I love how it illustrates that box is more about being smart, sharp and mentally prepared than just being physically gifted or trained. All that power, energy and speed that training builds is only as good as the mind of the boxer allows it to be.

On GGG using your head on the inside is something wrestler do because your body follows your head so you control where the body moves. something my wrestling coach taught me.

Started boxing 5 weeks ago. Absolutely love it , today was my first sparring session and I ate a lot more punches then I landed. It was great. @@ethanallen2233 keep at it my man ! I especially recommend starting sparring if you have other new guys to train with. It’s good to spar against everyone at all levels , the elites shouldn’t go too hard on you and you’ll learn a lot off sparring them especially foot work and feints I’ve found

@@way_of_water thanks heaps ! My usual schedule at the moment is 2 hours a day at the gym , Monday, Tuesday , Thursday. Wednesday 1 hour sparring. Some Fridays fitness and skill work. I’ve put my name down for a fight in March next year , a lot of hard work to put in to get ready for this fight and I can’t wait. Beautiful sport ! A lot of black eyes and blood noses to come 👊🏼 go well and keep at it too 👌🏼

Duran still got them Instincts, and reflexes.Obviously his physical abilities are gone but he still sees everything,Moves well for hixx as age.Xan still articulate himself. Legend.

Duran was a much more complete fighter than he sometimes gets credit for. His inside game was top-notch, but he could box at any range in order to get to his preferred range. He also had great defense which helps as to why he's still so sharp today.

Bernard is the king of subtle movements in boxing. Nobody did subtle moves better, you dont know they are happening. If you ever fought somebody like that it is almost impossible to figure out because its so subtle you cant tell what they are doing. Todays dudes are different. They dont the same sort of subtle moves like andre ward, bhop, henrry armstrong. New guys about doing mayweather flashy moves and nothing wrong with that but boxing has changed a lot in the last 10 years. The inside game also. People think of floyd as the shoulder roll guy but if you seem shoudler to shoulder on someone and inside he was so subtle and tricky. Just different now.

28:08 this bit with Andre ward really hit home as a martial artists my base is and forever will be boxing, I started doing Muay Thai and mma a year ago and everyone knows me as an awkward fighter I can do a traditional Thai stance but I always wanted to bring more boxing into my style since I’m comfortable with it and understand well but I did have to drop some mannerisms like having my front leg dug in since it’s now a venerability Bruce lee was way ahead of his time since his teachings are still relevant

Bruce basicallly created mma. Thats what JKD was. Jon jones is basically the purest example of JKD in a ring. He does whats needed to win and not bound to any style.

The biggest thing my father told me about fighting just in general not only boxing is the importance of inertia...The importance of making sure the punches that you want to knock out your opponents are thrown not only with your arm but your body moving with it too to shift your bodyweight into the force of the punch

I was living in Chicago in the 80’s and I remember seeing Tyson on TV and during the interview he said when you throw a punch you should always be moving your head or feet, I never forgot that.
