This is awesome. Nearly zero documentaries out there but tons of highlight reels from Genki!

this guy is awesome. I loved watching his fights as the flashiness didnt stop, yet he managed to stay focused and do his business.. there will never be another one like him lol.

That's what so great about him - he realized that this was entertainment, so his goal was not only to win but to make sure the audience saw something they remembered. You're not going to become ruler of the free world competing in MMA fights, but you can become legendary in fan's eyes by entertaining. Sakuraba knew that as well...

MMA needs more guys like this

Even in fighting he was a passionate entertainer. Though he lacked in striking, he was great with submissions. I love his Machine Civilization stuff.

He looks just like a kid! but with muscles lol. i freakin love genki. He's such a honorable and benevolent person and fighter. Plus he's very funny. Such a great showman. May his legacy and Spirit live on forever!

I can imagine when Genki was fighting, he trained in MMA a few hours a day, and then cut his gym time a little short to go to dance practice....But seriously, this guy is a really good fighter. It's rare to see a fighter who is very theatrical AND very talented. The theatrical fighters (a la Phil Baroni, Bob Sapp, etc.) are not that good. This guy is the exception. He has a ton of charisma and intelligence.

You only get one lifetime, can't do much better than living it like this

While ill agree his chances against penn are slim at best, i honestly think he was an extremely talented fighter. I think the biggest problem in the hypothetical fight is Sudo would go to put on a show and entertain the fans while penn would go in and try to rip his head off. And i do get tired of people putting penn on pedestal, he isnt unbeatable, as we saw against GSP.

Sudo was never really a fighter, while Penn is. Penn always wants to fight the best fighters in the world, whereas Sudo didn't.

thats a good matchup. genki's striking is much better in my opinion and he is much more unorthodox, and more athletic than penn but bj is the fuckin prodigy much better on the ground. i'd pick genki cause i respect him much more as a person and in my opinion a much more rounded fighter.

With Sudo vs Penn, there is NO 50/50 punchers chance for Genki. Genki has no power in his hands and Penn has a fuckin strong chin and rough skin. The only fighter that will get KOed will be Sudo.

no true. why do you assume it would be a punch that would do him in. Genki is a ninja with his legs and grapples. Penn isnt used to fighting unorthodox styles. but i feel its about even with advantages adn disadvantages fro both.

I couldn't tolerate the soundtrack after a couple of minutes. Terrible noise. But cool fighter!

Penn would not give a shit about Sudo's unorthodox style. The only time Sudo did unorthodox shit and was effective was against weaker opponents and when he fought under K-1 rules. I said it before and I'll say it again, Sudo will get destroyed if he ever fought Penn.
