Exactly! He was the absolute king of what is still referred to as "observational humor." He would look at everyday events, occurrences, situations, etc., and merely point out to us in his ingenious fashion how absurd and ridiculous these things were, or at the very least-could be. R.I.P., Mr. Carlin-you are sorely missed!
😆😆! Maybe that's George's strategy all along: die, & when he comes back to do another show in N.Y.C., charge two or three times as much for tickets. Sounds exactly like something he'd do, right before surprising everyone again, the moment they come to pay for their tickets: "Gotcha! Actually my price for admission is the same. You didn't *reeely* think I'd charge hard working people $100 each, did ya?!"
I was lucky enough to see him live during his last tour (he was working out material for his final HBO special). He was obviously in poor physical health but the wit was as sharp as ever. A true legend. I'll always feel fortunate to have attended that show.
I saw him live about 20 years ago. I was laughing so hard and so loud, I had to put my jacket over my head so as not to cause a disturbance in the audience. He would be on joke 10 and I was still howling on joke 2. I thought I would pass out. He was an exquisitely talented entertainer. RIP.
Seriously I love and respect him so Much. Everything he said has happened to me at certain point the not knowing what time it is , taking Wednesday as Thursday....... Rest in peace . him and Norm
@@johntogher7356 i also regret that i seen him allot growing up but never gave his standup a chance, i remember seeing him in jay and silent bob strike back and thought he was pretty funny but little did i know i had no idea how funny and intelligent the man really was. so now he is gone and i find myself here watching his videos and not only laughing but also learning. his view on life and death are helping me through some of my own tough times right now and making me less afraid of dying. Rip to the legend
This is what makes Carlin the greatest of all time. He did this kind of everyday observational humor just as well as he did his usual incisive and scathing intellectual examinations
I have to agree with this. He was pure genius. All great comedians deliver a ranting monolog to the world which happens to be funny but are awkward to be around. Carlin is that brilliant, insane uncle that your parents don't want you hang around because he makes you smarter than then they are...
@@sharlahiggins5090 too bad he's gone. He would be having a field day with the happenings of today; Coronavirus, BLM, the presidential election, etc!!!
I am such a hated person for growing up watching him. I have taken on a lot of his political views and people hate me because of it. With how fucking childish society has become and petty. people are so fucking offended at any and everything you say the worlds a fucking mess today. The sad part is it has a lot to do with how most people today think the fucking world owes them something its sad. Fucking people fight whenever they think something is being taken away from them its a fucking mess. Like this whole coronavirus bullshit and the riots. I would be up all night writing about the issues today but to cut it short. He was way ahead of his time. He just spoke the fucking truth and it made us laugh because its so true.
I have not owned at TV for 13 years and do not miss it at all. Every time I watch it at someones house I realize how smart a decision I made. All it has is propaganda, lies and stupidity. One big reason America is becoming such a stupid country - that's how Trump got elected.
The Wraith george has explicitly talked about what comedy is; exaggerating certain parts of everyday life. of course he's not gonna be factual that's what comedy is, a joke
I grew up watching George Carlin he's the greatest standup comedian of all time. I bought all his records, saw all his shows and a school classmate of mine and I did dueling Carlins in class. Dueling Carlins was us taking turns repeating a Carlin routine in his voice without messing up, that was in 1971-1973 and I'll never forget it.
How is it scary? This is meant to be a wholesome bit to how similiar all of us actually are. Except if you're talking about the part where the rich divide us despite our similarities, then I agree
George Carlin you were and are still a genius of words and observations. You will be missed by any peopele, who actually listened to what you were saying and enjoyed it, as I always do !!!
I got to meet him at an old job I had in the 90's. Very cool guy. His stage presence and real world personality were pretty in sync. Glad I had the honor to meet him. He will be missed!
"You ever find yourself standing in one of the rooms in your house, and and you can't remember why you went in there? And two words float across your mind..." THE SIMS.
6:26 - I've never once heard him make a mistake and apologize for having to start over. I didnt even care... it actually didn't bother me, nor the audience. People just don't care about mistakes when you're this funny. Fuck I miss this guy. He was on my bucket list :(
@BadDriversOfTennessee I can’t figure out what he actually means by that... Like I’ve never experienced what he says happens if you look at a chain fence from a specific angle
I am taking the opportunity here to say "Chapeau" to the late George Carlin. A dazzling and insightful fellow who knew how to convey, while putting his ideas forth and make you laugh in the process. Mr. Carlin zealously delivered his controversial and spirited presentations without looking at notes which demonstrated a remarkable knowledge of history, cultures, and capability to memorize an enormous amount of information, facts, and stories old and recent. George Carlin was simply "one of a kind" Thanks to the Internet; we can today appreciate and value his work as he brightens up the globe with laughter. George; the world misses you and will never be the same without you!

Observational comedy at it's absolute best. The brilliance of this man is so sadly missed. Thank goodness for video tape and RU-vid...long may they both endure...
That bit about lying on a pillow and it seeming higher or lower depending on which eye is open... *_Never, ever thought about anybody else doing that!_*
I think what made George Carlin so funny was the fact that he related so well to everyone. White, Black didn't matter. He was so brilliant that race or any other bullshit didn't matter. He was one of us & we loved him for it.
6:25 It seems as though he actually mixes up his joke set up here! I found that really interesting especially since he still politely corrects and then still pulls off the punchline flawlessly. What a legendary comic.
This man was simply sharing his Awokeness with us all. I’m so Grateful for this man; truly a voice for us “Crazy Human Beings”...Love and Light Big G!!!
My all time favorite Carlin bit. The second favorite being "7 Words You Can't Say on TV". Really miss Carlin. Sadly never knew about him until after he died. Really would have loved to see his reaction to the world now.
Here it is roughly 20 or more years later and all of his statements could not ring more true than they do today. This man so far ahead of his time. Genius!
I can't say enough how much I miss this Man. Guaranteed to make you think and laugh at the same time pure Guinness!!! God can we have George back? We need him more than ever 😥
A true genius of the human condition, society, and a master of language. A philosopher with perfect comedic timing, who broke things down to show the idiocy and madness behind the workings of politics, consumerism, capitalism, propaganda, greed, corruption and the mob mentality that has slowly decayed this country since it's founding. Entropy. He saw where it was all going long before it happened. I think he had a deep understanding of humans and society that comes around once in a century if people are lucky. He was a prophet for lack of a better term. That's why I think no matter when you watch it, it's all still true in every way. His observations were always DEAD ON. The only person I can think of comparable to Carlin is Mark Twain. And Carlin was even better in many ways. I doubt we will see anyone like him again in our lifetimes.
WOW... Just amazing at what he does. Pure genius and a master at work. Made me forget about all the drama and problems I have to deal with for a while. Thanks for sharing this
I have seen everything Carlin has ever done and never tire of watching it again. Good comedians just observe our every day habits and dumb shit we do and point them out. George went above and beyond in a way that anyone could understand. R.I.P. George. He would say. Rot In Peace. Because he saw religion as just another stupid thing we do.
Oh my God..ive heard this routine before. It still feels like the first time. Im laughing so hard im crying. I miss him..nobody can make me snort when I laugh like our George.❤
He had an incredible way with words, but the way he used his body and face to generate laughter was amazing. If you're just listening to the audio of his concerts, it's funny enough. But to see him perform had you falling all over yourself. You know how a natural phenomenon like an earthquake or tornado can cause fear, awe, humility, or a recognition of your own humanity and mortality? Well, George was a natural phenomenon that caused relatability and laughter.
I was fortunate enough to see him live where he repeated most of the material I had heared earlier but it didn't really matter. It was just as if I was hearing them for the first time. The greatest comedian ever.
Sad that he died in June 2008 - before the days of Presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump. So much material for him to totally go after with his unique sense of observation and humor.
This man is just an enclyopedia of life and explains every thing so well He educates me but I could never remember how it's done to even try to explain to others
I'm in England and discovered George on RU-vid a couple of years ago. I've watched everything and laughed my brains out. Such a clever man, so funny and entertaining and spot on with his observations.
This is complete Cometic Genius! I'm over here 🤣. Was happy to have had chance to Seen George Carlin Live. He had a gift to make us Laugh, Speak Honesty, Tell it like it is. Thankyou!
This man was so amazing he made everyday things seem funny and he made real points about life that are to true and made us laugh about it . R.I.P. you left to soon .
We need a Georgle Carlin 2.0, no one has Carlins Morals nowadays, they're all dead, including Carlin himself. RIP, I miss real people saying real things that people lie to themselves about.
At every person they just mentioned... They don't compare to the level of George Carlin's Routine. They may have those moments, but nothing like George Carlin. Bill Hicks is the closest in my opinion, but unfortunately he's dead too!
Hello to you all from Eìre 🇮🇪, I'm sitting here, few beers and I need a change of pants.... I'm crying and wetting myself at the same time.... I love this man, he is an absolute legend. I really wish he was still with us
