+Nico Tena quirks? lol... "Quirks" does not even come close to explaining why people build "Quene Anne" style wood/plaster/shingle homes... little pig houses of sticks... in Tornado zones... aren't they sacrificing their children to impress a dead Queen's descendants into giving them an extra dollar? ... and sacrificing their own children to die in a Tornado in order to do so? Why not just build Tornado Proof Houses? ... because i doubt the people in Europe are very Impressed by people who sacrifice their children to try to impress strange people on another Continent who give not one flying fuck whether or not they are even alive.
+Mark Spies Really? I'm so sorry you had to wait so long. I grew up with him, starting way back with the Hippy-Dippy Weatherman. The way he could just skewer some of our invented terms was nothing short of genius. Loved him. ENJOY :)
+57Strudel ya i looked up the 7 dirty words after watching that sponge bob Clip on them for the hell of it searched that up found his routine on them and been hooked since.
The 336 people that disliked this video are on non-stop flights. Rumor has it, they've been up there for 10 years and didn't appreciate George's mocking of their plane situation.
In my opinion this is the single most legendary standup routine in human history. I've watched it probably 100 times and it *never* fails to make me laugh.
jesus, your pilot must have had quite the sense of humor, or was so damn confident in himself that he couldn't crash in the ocean. either way, it's dangerous thinking when you're in charge of the lives of strangers.
DAMIEN MILLS you're right! Pilots shouldn't be so confident as to think they can fly a plane without crashing it into the ocean. It's dangerous thinking to make a joke like that, he may forget that landing on water is bad! Just because he flies a plane all day, every day, doesn't mean he won't forget not to land on the water.
@Christina Reynolds I agree that he was trying to be funny. But some people are so uptight that he might have scared the shit out of someone who was nervous about flying and actually asked to get off before the take off
Michael c only some of them are true just because some flight attendants say things and some of the people who work at the boarding desk say we will now start the boarding process, I've heard tons of them say we will begin boarding or we will start boarding or basically any version that couldn't be shorter or more simple.
Oh yes, he’s still my favorite! The 10 commandments & soft language still crack me up. Then I think about what he’s saying & I agree with him. And what he said about abortion 25yrs ago, it’s hard to believe that he’s still in the news with that
+Matthew Calabresse My brother and i had a flight last year. when they began the safety lecture we laughed the whole time, barely paying attention cuz we were thinking about this skit.
That'd short for that would meaning past tense I know he's been dead hence that would if he was alive I would've said how fun it must be to fly with Carlin like get a life
He is now screaming up at us, or more likely, part of The Big Electron, WOW! If he was, wrong, he is watching the off the charts example of entropy, the current election has wrought, WITH GLEE!!
This is why he was the greatest that ever did it. He could make anything funny through his keen wit and expert analytical skills. Not only that, his act aged like fine wine, simply getting better and better as the decades passed. He regularly turned nothing into something like it was a cakewalk throughout his whole career. Except often, like moments here, there was something and we were that much more... enlightened, if you will, for having him point it out. I don't throw this word around very often but he was absolutely genius.
+Mattydigs Exactly as you said, turning nothing into something. He would have a LOT of material to work on nowadays, with all the bullshit happening around the world.
In global news today. in a meeting with North Korea's leader Kim jong-in President George Carlin was recorded saying EATSHITMOTHERFUCKER! EATSHITMOTHERFUCKER!! EATSHITMOTHERFUCKER!!!
@118193103885851617021 Thats the genius of Carlin. He offends them because they take it the wrong way and his brutal honesty exposes them for what they are
He sure had the best command of the English language of any comic. I never once heard him stumble or trip over words. He was a great speaker, especially with really awkward phrases or long lists of words.
Christina Reynolds The only one stupid here is apparently you, he said that no one is going to tell if it really was crash into ocean, and anyways most of the landing can be considered crashes.
@Christina Reynolds Many others do find him funny. It had already become clear to me, from reading your various comments, that you do not. You are assuming that he personally has "narcissism, hatred and disgust" in all aspects of his being, when all you are seeing here is what he puts forth publicly on stage which sometimes involves portraying a character, like how most of the lyrics of Randy Newman's song "Short People" were portraying a character. It's become clear to me from George's interviews that although parts of what George said in comedy routines reflected his real feelings, others were wordplay about English language oddities and exaggerated satires of prejudice for comedy effect, not meant to be taken entirely literally as you seem to assume. I did already write to you elsewhere that I saw your point about "near miss." You just took quite a broad swipe at many of George's fans you do not even know, by implying they are not intelligent, mature, thinking adults and that they are so ego driven they only use watching George's routines to try to feel like one. I am sorry about whatever seemingly went wrong in your life that contributed to your bitterness. Have a nice day.
@Christina Reynolds You ain't judging him fairly, cause you calling him all of these fancy terms without even knowing who he is really like. Worse of all, you judge him based on a character he is playing as a comedian, which is his job. You can judge him, sure, but when people respond negatively because they believe that your judgement is unfair, don't get angry.
George Carlin had been doing comedy for so long....and I still think this is the funniest 12 minutes he ever put together. If I am ever down or in the dumps, it's this piece that brings me back.
My favorite comedian of all times. Everyone who watches him gets a great laugh and an education at the same time. R.I.P. George thank you for everything love ya Bro
I'd seen this show when a friend of mine got the video when we were in college. Later in 1998, I took my first trip on a commercial plane. I was a little nervous since I'd never flown before, but then the safety lecture started. George Carlin was in my head the whole time doing this skit, and it really helped take the edge off my nervousness.
Carlin is wonderfully funny on airlines and language. A comedian from the past (1960s) you'd all enjoy on the same topic is SHELLEY BERMAN. His "Inside Shelley Berman" (on RU-vid) blew the top off the charts in his day. Have a look. . . .
What made him so hilarious is the absolute truth of his descriptions. All of them so true that we wonder WHY we could not have written his jokes.....we felt the same way......but HE decided to use it as part of his humor. ....and it is was and is priceless. A comedic genius !
To this day, whenever I'm on an airplane, at the very least I have to crack a smile when the flight attendants are going through this whole spiel, because I'm thinking of Carlin the entire time.
Love Carlin. Currently reading "Doublespeak" by William Lutz, and realizing from where some of the inspiration to this bit was taken. George delivered so much common sense and truth he is desperately missed today.
***** Yes he did drugs..Yet he learned from his mistakes and quit cocaine. He had his demons. But if you pay attention to some of his interviews he had the balls to stop the drugs before the substances stopped him.And he did it by himself without any help,so the strength of his character was amazing, when most men fail to discipline themselves. And no the drugs weren't responsible for his talent nor his death.
***** You know what? You are absolutely right.I will support the legalization of drugs with all my heart. So that more people will kick the bucket, hop the twig, bit the dust, shuffle off their mortal coil, run down the curtain and join the bleedin' choir invisibile. To ceased to be.Bereft of life,to rest in peace..more room and resources for the rest of us!
I had chemo and had to sit on chair for 3 hours and found his humour the best, had my earphones on and must have been laughing my head off. Best medicine when your sick. Told friends who have cancer to do the same. Time goes by so fast with this great man
Man, George Carlin's shows are going to age so well with time. Many decades later, his comedy will be studied to understand our times better. One of these days, I will buy all George Carlin DVDs and keep it with me for when I am old I can watch it on my old DVD player while everyone is using hologram or some shit.
+VersipellistherogueChangeling And Ringo Star. George did Seasons 1-4 and Alec did 5-6. Ringo did the original narration for Seasons 1-2 when it first aired, George did 3-4 even on the original airings, same with Alec :3
It doesn't matter how many times I watch videos of him, George Carlin makes me literally cry with laughter whenever I watch him. The man had a real gift for turning seemingly trivial things into absolute comedy gold. As well as for seeing through the bullshit in everyday society and telling it like it is. We need people like him in the world. Unfortunately nowadays they are few and far between.
"In the unlikely event of a water landing... Well what exactly is a water landing? Am I mistaken, or does this sound somewhat similar to CRASHING INTO THE OCEAN?! Your seat cushion can be used as a floatation device. Well imagine that, my seat cushion, just what I need. To float around the North Atlantic for several days...clinging to a pillow full of beer farts."
+Vivian Rebstock "On January 15, 2009, US Airways Flight 1549 (AWE1549), an Airbus A320 piloted by Captain Chesley B. "Sully" Sullenberger and First Officer Jeffrey Skiles, made an unpowered emergency water landing in the Hudson River after multiple bird strikes caused both jet engines to fail." -Wikipedia
+Big Dookie I was quoting my favorite part :). What he said is the same thing that runs through my mind when they go over the safety brief. I've always been a nervous flyer.
+Big Dookie that is funny lol. So you're the only one out of the family that is bothered by flying? I think I've just watched too many mayday tv shows and air crash investigation. I can't stand the feeling of take off and the climbing of the air plane...I always feel like the bottom is going to fall out from under me...I just don't like planes. Unfortunately, because of my job I'm always flying...scares me every time no matter how often I fly.
+Big Dookie I agree. You are more likely to survive a car crash than an airplane crash. Once an airplane starts falling out of the sky death is imminent.
Lol, I remember "discovering" Carlin and downloading bits on audiogalaxy (well, no utube back then...). This piece was amazing. "gettin' on the plane":)))))
How bout predetermined? "this had a predetermined result". No, it had a determined result. If it was predetermined, it didn't happen yet. Or pre-algebra. THAT'S ALGEBRA! You're already learning the basics of algebra that still counts as algebra! Pre-algebra is whatever you're doing before you get to algebra
"Place the oxygen mask over your face and breathe normally. Well, I ALWAYS breathe normally when I'm in a 600 MPH uncontrolled vertical dive! I also shit normally... right in my pants!!!"
Can you imagine if George was alive with, smart phones, selfies, Justin Bieber, Miley Cirus & Donald Trump running for President? His acts would be off the chart. RIP George, so honored I got to see him live about 10 time. He was and will always be the BEST!!
LOL I'm watching him now. "Put your seat back forward, Well I don't bend that way if I did I'd be in Porno movies" One time I was in the 2nd row & his facial expressions up close. Hysterical!!
George Carlin had some really really good comedy. My dad had me listen to his best one about STUFF and I still think it's his best one. God bless you Mr Carlin, may you rest in peace.
