His ability to make perfect, comprehensive, solid, and yet simply straight forward analogies just right off the top of his head at absolutely any given time is an inspiration to me.
He literally wrote comedic observations this way. If you are merely partially capable of drawing arguments created by your own idioms it's not that hard to quantify them to lesser intellects like the likes of people he rubbed elbows with in the entertainment industry.

Carlin had a few good points, but I'd say the black guy destroyed everyone. There was so much bullshit and moral busybodying going on from everyone else. Whining about people not conserving when these fuckers all ride on private jets is always hilarious to me. And they're ALWAYS wrong when it comes to environmental positions. That's the thing I love about watching these old shows and reading old articles, you get to see all these doom and gloom predictions fall flat on their faces. When your agenda is built upon lies and stupidity, it should instantly be disregarded.
So sad there are so many people who think that people in power will give them what they need if they vote the right way. Don't worry that rich asshole will do what he says. It's like how many generations of people getting screwed by the government on the regular, it's really upsetting that there isn't more people who can see. I don't expect everyone to be as brilliant as George Carlin but he called everything for its BS even before they happened, look at that Covid BS. Ya Know. The stupid people can't pull there pants down fast enough to get the government to slide their filthy cocks in there asses to tell em what to do and how long to hide, and when it's safe and when we can do things.
The bigger illusion is the expectation that the average person, when faced with many choices, will do the smart thing and not buy an SUV. George points to the illusion of choice, while indirectly agreeing that choice should be reduced by government.
I KNOW he doesn't miss us! And that's one of the reasons I've always loved him; his honesty. I think that expedited his downward spiral. His life and comedy magnified the loneliness and anguish of being an honest person in a dishonest world.

@@Infinitebrandon I’m willing to bet you have an absolute misunderstanding of how old millennials are. God is not “love”. Love is love, God is something humans invented to try and understand the parts of the world that they didn’t understand. When they didn’t understand what thunder was, they named it Thor and worshipped it. Now, after understanding the science behind it, we realize Thor is nonsense. Your God is the same. The story of Jesus Christ actually predates Jesus Christ himself lol that story about a man born from a virgin, walking on water, healing people, performing miracles, turning water into wine, etc, was all being used in other religions before Jesus Christ was even born. Love is not damning someone to eternal torture, for any reason. If someone were to treat humans with the same sorts of “punishment” that your God does, you would be absolutely appalled by them. You’ve been brainwashed and I feel very sorry for you. Hopefully you grow out of this someday.
What amazes me about George's political beliefs, is when I first heard him I thought he was exaggerating for sake of humor in standup shows, but as time goes on and the older I get, the more it becomes so blatantly obvious how right on the money he was about everything.
2:30 out in the open 3:00 they're not even trying to conceal it anymore 5:08 went to the same universities, they know what's good for them , reduced in choice
What people never understood about George Carlin is that he’s actually a Philosopher who makes good points about certain world problems... he just took on the “comedian” persona and disguised it as comedy.
Or maybe people are so used to thier everyday lives they dint realise things are actually the way they are until certain points are put across in a particular way from a man such as george.
Do you think he is a follower of Russell’s logic or more Continental? I myself think that Carlin’s philosophy comes from the linguistic observations of Wittgenstein as expounded in the Tractatus… but who knows maybe he’s just a really smart comedian who doesn’t know anything about philosophy
He wasn't a philosopher. He was a comedian who loved what he did with a little twist of reality. People who say he's a philosopher are just that, people who say that. If he was one he wouldn't be a god damn comedian
$3 a gallon for gas? You'd have lines for miles now and it surprisingly has little to do with government. Carlin though was 100% on point and everything he said aged perfectly.
He’s less ideologically loyal to the far left while still rejecting ring wing perspectives - objectivity is the goal is it not? He went hard left for a while there, I will give you that. I didn’t watch for a few years during Trump mania. He’s back, though - objectivity seemingly intact.
I came for George, but i have to say i mostly agree with Horace cooper! Even though i hate big fat SUV's i feel that the choice should remain to the individual. I think 12 years later, we can agree that the best we can do to help the climate, is to work together, and not by restricting each others freedoms.
6:35 Idiot: “It’s his RIGHT to drive an SUV!” George: “There are no rights” Wow a throwback to one of his brilliant bits about how we made up rights. I love him.
I miss both Maurs. Given so little coverage that confirms he even exists, all we have is a comparison. No citation, no birth record, not even a friend who remembers him. Rest in peace Maur, we never knew ye
Agreed. And people don’t want to hear it which is dumbfounding to me. Until the popular vote is what decides who becomes President, these “elections” will remain entirely meaningless.
Do you have any idea of why checks and balances are important? Popular vote? First off, it is exceptionally rare for a President to win the electoral, and not also the popular vote, so I dont see what you expect to change there. Second, without the electoral, you would hand over elections to basically the 3 most populated states, and completely forsake the other 47. California alone would basically decide who wins, which would then lead to policies geared heavily towards favoring those states, and leaving everybody else behind. Nothing is perfect, but our democratic republic is honestly as good as it gets. Let me get ahead before somebody points out corrupt officials, you’ll find that everywhere, so irrelevant. The system itself works. Bad people do bad things because they can, and they always will. With that, they will always find ways to corrupt good things.
@@lukeshepard9535 I don’t expect to change anything. As long as a nation is run by an international banking cartel it won’t matter if the president is mother Theresa or a ham sandwich
22 Years later and we are still having the same conversations. This time, Democrats are in office and it's the same as it was in 2001. So frustrating.......
Interestingly, Horace Cooper doesn't ask Carlin to 'prove it' or investigate the validity of Carlin's claim for himself, no, he used a familiar tactic by first trying to insult George making him sound like a crazy person by saying "back to earth for you now" and when that didn't work he immediately turned to denial.
I think people just assume because comedians make people laugh they're stupid. Until you realise the kings most trusted confidant was his jester for a reason. Some comics are super intelgent. There has to be soemthing in being able to make entire auditorium of people laugh on que and having a real high IQ reasoning.
This episode is a revenant as ever. The great George Carlin reminded us that American predator capitalist economy, by definition, lives by growth: For Capitalism to desist from its mindless expansion would be for it to commit social suicide. We are in the beginning of a mass extinction, and all the plutocrats gang of oligarch billionaires and their political employees in congress can talk about is money and the fairy tales of eternal economic growth on a planet with finite resources. We have, essentially, chosen terminal cancer as the model of our social system. Capitalism’s grow-or-die imperative stands radically at odds with ecology’s imperative of interdependence and limit. The two imperatives can no longer coexist with each other; nor can any society founded on the myth that they can be reconciled hope to survive.
The fallacy they all fall for is expecting government to ultimately be the one to solve these problems. The teams change every few years but the motives remain the same. Relying on government is and always will be the first mistake.
First off Carlin made a great point, but the guy sitting next to him was making great points also. Every other person on this pannel even Bill was arguing for more government coercion, and I garuntee they are eating their words today. What a flip we've had
As far as intelligence is concerned, George is light years ahead of the others .... If only the majority of Americans had listened to George when he was still alive ....
George Carlin…. Several years ago, I watched a video on the 100 greatest comedians of all time, and Carline came in second to prior, which I guess I can understand that for that time, but he was, and still is in my opinion, one of the most intelligent comedians that ever lived. Highly intelligent comedian, with the analytical breakdown and mindset of a philosopher. I always loved that. He had a natural nack with the way he worded and explained his stuff, that he could point out real life scenarios that are both nuisances and irritations to him, but also real world problems in a way that made the audience laugh even if there is a part of the audience that didn’t realize they were being targeted by his joke which made it all even more sweeter, because they could laugh at a humorous way. He was making fun of what they liked, did, believed, in, thought, or what not. I’m going to miss him, and may he continue to rest in peace.
"you don't need a formal conspiracy when you have common interests" the rest of the panel: "ok conspiracy theorist" *goes back to circle jerking each other about their common interests*
Interesting... they are fighting for the freedom to choose from predetermined choices... If the choices are chosen for you... then do you really get to choose?
The corporate jester sitting next to Carlin is probably one of the most irritating humans I've ever had the misfortune of witnessing. I love at the start he's just like "you can cut that nonsense with me pal, I see your little corporate shtick you have going on", Carlin had enough attitude to send little minions like that whimpering back to the devils ballsack with a glance Lol.
Talk about illusion of choice. Gas prices, blackouts, monopolies, we're still talking about the same shit they were talking about in the 90's because we're allowed to talk about them all we want. We're just not allowed to fix them.
The new illusion of choice is Gender politics. It’s another distraction/diversion that most people have fallen for. They are more bothered about people’s pronouns than the Elites continually screwing us all over. The world has gone insane 😬
All this seems like a Pre-K "Sandbox of Innocence" nativity scene of America and the world, compared to how much both have metastasized into the plurality of systemic malignancies and/or functional dystopias we're living in today. Almost a picture-frame moment...
Many Comdians do their due diligence research on their material they going to use on the stage and George Carlin did his on Politics in America and how Lobbyist are running American Policies and in layman terms. 😆❤️😆
When people that are not in the political sphere make ALWAYs the most sense about politics ! Is where you know we have a problem, you gotta wake up people, nothing gonna ever change with politicians
