Interview with Game of Thrones author, George R.R. Martin. Discussing his life, influences and process. --Re-Upload due to copyright issues. Scenes from the show are cut, but the interview with GRRM remains intact --
Christopher Lawson I’d love to sit down with him and pick his brain and find out what he thinks about the classics such as Lord of the Rings and Chronicles of Narnia
@@horrorfan96 You would go through the trouble of doing that for trying to find out about things which are actually common knowledge? He loves Lord of the Rings.
My favorite story by George R.R. Martin is "Sandkings". I'll never forget it. It might be my favorite short story of all the authors. Although, "Of Mist, Grass and Sand" is up there too, along with "A Boy and His Dog". So, so many of them!! I bless all the authors, the book makers and those who taught me how to read. They've made my life so much more interesting than it would have been without them.
Watching game of thrones after reading the books is hard because a song of ice and fire is such a well thought out masterpiece. He will finish it perfectly I believe
Yeah if he manages to finish it before he dies. Let's hope so but not be too mad at him if he doesn't because he's still a human being after all who might want to enjoy the golden years of his life however he sees fit, even if that means not finishing the books. I suspect that ironically the popularity of his books may have been exactly the thing that killed his passion for them and put so much pressure and exhaustion on him helping with the writing of the TV show that writing the books just felt like more drudgery to him at some point and his passion for the world he created fizzled out under all that pressure. Like he himself said in this interview, he wouldn't want to be king, because being king would actually be a really tough job, and well...he did become King and it looks like it exhausted him into a major writer's block. No matter how it plays out, remember we will still always have fanfiction. :) In any case he's still a genius, and I hope he gets to find that spark again, finish the books, and live a happy life forever after.
@7:28 friend o'mine, while ago, said to me "[I think] overall, A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE is really a pacifist treatise." (Then breaking down how all the aggressions and betrayals pile up, fueling war.)
"Im poor but im come from greatness" For me not only does this present his perspectivr of writing Danny but her Brother Viserys as well There was likely a level of resentment he has to overcome that he represents
Im not a fan of fantasy. I dont watch Game Of Thrones either. Its just personal taste. But i realy enjoyed this interview. Its was great finding out that Mr. Martin is a very intelligent, very likable person with a good heart. Not at all how would have imagined him to be. I may just check out Game Of Thrones just based on the creators likabillity
@@raypreseau2047 My personal suggestion is to watch through Season 5 and then go get the A Song of Ice and Fire books. They are incredible. But he's only written 5 out of 7 of the books and there's speculation as to whether or not he'll actually finish. I gave up hope back in 2017 or so. But the books are amazing and the kind you can reread multiple times. Very well done.
People who criticize George RR Martins stories regarding conflicts of Sex, Race, Slavery, ect. most likely don’t have basic knowledge of world history. Did they really expect a fantasy story in a land where everyone’s the same without conflict? How these “critics” are taken seriously is beyond me.
This was good until the Benioff and Weis came on 🤢 I give them a little credit. But screw them for ruining what could have been 12 seasons of game of thrones for thier personal ambitions
Exactly. They could have (and should have!) graciously bowed out after Season 4 or 5 and let someone else take the helm. Instead they butchered the greatest TV show ever made.
He touches on exactly why I hate Marvel movies. Marvel Heroes & Villains are mostly strictly good, or bad, and I've always found that to be incredibly boring, and add to that the fact that superhero movies these days are all cookie-cutter stories with basically the same structure and hitting the same story beats, just leaves me incredibly bored. Morally ambiguous characters are always far more interesting and intriguing than simple black hat and white hat characters.
I saw an interview with Martin made here in the states and didn't come away liking the guy much. I watch this one made in the UK and I love him, and have a whole new insight into his work ethic, and integrity. I wish we had the same standards here, instead of just being fed whatever "sells" to the masses by the shills in "Hollywood".
I started reading the series my senior year of HS 05/06 and i personally HATE GOT they completely destroyed the series after season 5 had D&D not gotten the series from grrm i believe Wind's of Winter would be published along with everything else from 2011 til now plus 2-3 dunk and egg novellas and maybe even fire and blood part 2 and we'd only be waiting for Dream of Spring and the lat 3 or 4 dunk and egg and maybe fire and blood part 2
After watching the last show it killed the whole lot in one go...…. lets just kill the one person who was loved by everyone….oh well I will never watch the reruns never ever.... disappointment YES !!!
The biggest waste of money and time ever ... the story unfinished via the books. HBO takes it and has to make up their own story as it passes the books by so the ending is whatever ?? SUCKS
