RU-vid messed with it sometimes because they think Remembering WW2 is equal to “ we love the Nazis” when in fact, it’s not the same. My father was in the Navy during WW2 and he tested atom bombs at Bikini and so I know a lot about this particular time period. Old Smokey is wonderful!

A Kayfabe thank you for commenting and I couldn’t agree more! Thank you for supporting the channel and thank you for your fathers service as it’s important to remember their stories so that they can be preserved for the future generations.

History Savior 1941 Awesome! I love German personal items. And I am somewhat confused and cannot find any videos on RU-vid about how to properly fill out a Soldbuch, would you be able to make a video about that? (If you cannot, that is not a problem).

“If it may fly off” haha, oh the amount of times I’ve had to sew on buttons after a tactical battle. With Schokakola, I pound out the indent, and we had a decal company rip up labels for us to make it a little more correct. I assume you are a follower of some of Chris Pittman’s groups. He’s a fantastic resource. Wehrmacht-Schreibstube, a group on FB, has excellent resources for paperwork.

Smitty I am a follower of Chris. I actually purchased the 1939 tornister in the video from Chris. He is a great guy and very knowledgeable. I actually purchased a repro cardboard Schokakola box from Warsendshop. They are by far the best at replicating original items. Thank you so much for the comment and your support my friend. It’s always challenging doing a video like this because people pick impressions apart. Most of this is original however or direct reproach. The toothpaste is actually From Italy but has remained unchanged since the war. I usually carry repro Solidox tubes but was out at the time of filming this.

WOW, I LOVE HISTORY and especially things like this. I just got started (yes a rookie/newbie) in collecting old military items and old MRE’s. Oldsmokey hooked me up with Vince of saltycroccollectibles, he is a great guy. He has really been helping me and I bought a few things from him. He is so kind he just threw some extra items in my package because he knew I’m new and just getting started. I would love to buy or win something if you do that👍 I was trying to find the website warzoneshop and the other one you mentioned but I could not find them. Could you give me the exact link or name so I can check them out. I can already tell I’m going to love your channel. This was an AMAZING video, thank you for sharing.👍👍👍

The Van der Hagen Razor is not period correct. acorect razor would be a "Rotbart Mond Extra". It existed since the 1920s and became a 100% company daughter of Gillette in 1930/31. Pre 1931 Razors have two blade guide posts on the inside of the headshield. Post 1931 razors have a "stabilizingbar" instad of the pins. The blade design changed in 1931 to the bladedesign, we have until today. The Esbitstove is not one from ww2, it is a modern one from the Bundeswehr. It has the itemnumber stamped on it.

Very cool friend. Great collection of items. Dad was in WWII, 97th infantry, 386-387th. H Company. He went through Normandy, saw, France, Czech, Poland, and more, before getting to Germany. This collection, is very interesting to me. The Kaffee - Konserve, I had never heard of? Good looking tea, however, I am glad you decided to change the water out, LOL. I agree with you on biscuits sir, LOL. Nice demonstration, on use of stove , fuel tabs and tea. I was hoping, the fuel tab, was not one that smelled like old fish, LOL. Not that I ever used one inside, accidently, but, my wife tells me, go to the deck, if I am going to use one now, LOL. She insists ! Great review, of German personal items. I enjoyed greatly. Peace, John.

MultiMagnum62 thank you John!!! I would have loved to hear your dad’s story. Men like him is why I do this. The koffee konserve can be found on warsendshop.com for $6 a tube and it’s well worth it. The rebut tablet was luckily an ok smelling one lol and my wife didn’t kill me. Thank you for the support that you have given me from day one. Words can’t say how much I appreciate your support!!!

@HistorySavior1941
@HistorySavior1941 5 лет назад
Thank you for the comment Kahlest! Unfortunately they would have more than likely seen some of the worst parts of the war in Holland. I couldn’t imagine being a child in Holland hearing and fearing the bombs and German troops as they moved through. Unfortunately due to what they witnessed, it is probably too painful to talk about because they more than likely lost family and friends and witnessed the horrors that war brings. At the same time however their experience with the war is very important. They are a living testament to one of the darkest times in history.

@@HistorySavior1941 I know and one story that my Mom did tell me was that her and her sisters were sent to another city to be kept safe in a church. They were lucky in that they had the protection and food. My Grandfather knew in advance that they were coming into the small town so he made up a lot of pots of sauerkraut and buried them in the fields, when the soldiers came and raided every house and took every crumb of food that they could because they were starving after they left my grandfather dug up the kraut and keep the entire village fed. My Uncle and his friends would go out after curfew and they would hide in the dark and throw rocks at the german soldiers, they did get caught and one of his friends was executed as an example for the rest. A family friend who was also in Holland during the war was living in Friesland and everyone was starving her dad volunteered to the german soldiers for medical experiments in exchange for safe passage for his family. He later died from TB.

That is a hard question Japan and. China were already at war and were before WW2. the Spanish Civil war started right before WW2 also. Actually Italy and Ethiopia were also fighting, and Italy took over. I’m Italian so I know abt that.
