The wilderness varies a lot and sometimes you want to hang your hammock and find the tree distances don’t work well, ie too far apart or too large trunk diameter. Often times this tip I show here will do the trick. In this video I’m using one of our ponchos set up in it’s hammock mode, I’ve equipped it with the optional Amsteel Blue cord built in with eyes on both ends, and also using the daisy chain webbing.

For anyone that is interested in getting a poncho from Perry at Wilderness Innovation I’m going give my personal endorsement and say the following if you are looking to purchase what I consider the very best and most versatile poncho available anywhere. First of all, I’ve been dealing with Perry at Wilderness Innovations for several years now and I think so highly of him as well as his product’s that I actually waited for over a year to get my poncho when his wife was dealing with carpal tunnel surgery and healing from the surgery ( she is the master seamstress) and this was a “deliberate choice by me “ because, knowing and dealing with the owner directly and knowing the high quality of workmanship that Perry and his wife put into all of their gear, this was a decision in my mind was definitely worth the wait! So, moving on to what I have to say about my custom made Poncho from Wilderness Innovations after 3 years of field use? It’s a absolutely wonderful and highly versatile piece of kit and it’s exceptionally well made for rugged field use and it performs flawlessly as not only a Poncho but also as a Tarp and … YES…. It really is pretty awesome Hammock and believe it or not, it’s very comfortable in a hammock configuration and I’m almost 6’ 5” tall ! When I say that I had Perry and his wife make me a custom Poncho I truly mean that because, when you are 6’ 5” tall, the struggle is very real trying to obtain ANYTHING that is sized properly for you. I got mine done in the Dark Olive Extra Wide and a custom length of 100 inches long configured with the built in dyneema hammock cords and I got a set of the Dark Olive Daisy Chains. Thank you Perry for being such a great guy and keeping quality craftsmanship alive in America. Love you brother! Cam

You can get the daily chains in I believe 5’ , 7’ and 10’ lengths. And to answer your question about if the Daisy Chains are FREE with the Poncho purchase? Ummm… no dude, they are not! I am only commenting on this because I myself am also a business owner and, I’m going to politely say the following…. Perry only sources and makes the highest quality products obtainable on the market period. With that said… like with any business owner, you can’t give your products or services away for free. But, know this, if you deal with Perry at Wilderness Innovations, you are getting the highest quality gear period. The extreme difference with Perry and Wilderness Innovations is that, Perry DOES NOT sell ANYTHING that he has not field tested extensively. You can spend your money and buy with absolute confidence when you are dealing with Perry at Wilderness Innovations! Enough said!

Pretty much an ass response. Also a business owner to. An I agree you don’t give your services ect away. But with the price some of them are. An that’s actually paid for bulk dash chain web. A short length to get one gone could easily be thrown in. But he did it the right way an added different options to the purchase. An made different variations from the paracord to dyneema with eye and the quick connect an quick connect with daisy chain. So in that aspect it’s a little more consumer friendly to get someone going. That option is better for the business to to offer options from cheaper to mid an the first class option. But I do agree with the quality of gear. Not so much the materials due to that’s depending where you look. Off the shelf standard materials. Perry’s quality is from what he has come up with. An the quality at which his products are made. Made in the USA. NO CHEAP CHINESE CRAP. That people throw together an idea. An source everything off shore. Ild rather pay a premium for quality gear made here of a good design than anything else. As of now I have me a Beast torso A shelter base with poles A ultralight poncho A slider bug net One of the grey dyneema ponchos One of the Ultra 200 ponchos A few of his gear bags The ultralight tarp An tarp kit The osni underquilt/poncho liner The osni top quit. I’m definitely invested into wilderness innovations by a few thousand dollars. An no regrets. The people he has sewing all Of his gear is 100% top level. All the stockings are perfect. All reinforced perfectly. All of my ponchos have the quick connects an daisy chain. The sleeve extensions. There awesome by the way. All of his gear works flawlessly as it was intended. Will definitely have to be all passed on. Because it’s sure to outlive me. Atleast the heavy duty dyneema ponchos. Anything that wouldn’t is just due to the nature of light weight fabrics. But even than. If you take care of ya gear. It’ll be around forever. But the daisy chain is 1” by a few different lengths like he said. An is way more than strong enough. I believe he said it’s 2500 pounds. An it’s not stitched. But woven. If they had it in 3/4 would still be way more than enough. But make ya a purchase. I’m looking to make another pretty soon. I’m just not 100% sure on what I’m wanting just yet. You won’t have any regrets. An if you do. You may as well go all the way an do the quick connects with the daisy chain.
