I thought ok we didn’t play great against Denmark and drew 1-1 t least we got a point, our last group game will be against Slovenia I’m sure we will win that one 😃 and what happens? We don’t even score and end up drawing 0-0. we have only scored 2 goals in this entire group stage which is shocking really when even Albania and Poland scored more goals than England in the group stage, we need to play waaaaaay better to have any chance of progressing past the last 16 - will be interesting how this euros will finish
So talented they lost to Iceland, scraped past Serbia and failed to beat Denmark 😂 Bang average more like. Watch the Germans and Spanish, they are proper teams.
How's about just pick the best players in the country in that position. Stones won a treble then a double at centre mid and he's saying we have not replaced phillips? Foden and walker are trusted down the right wing so bring saka on as an impact player in 2nd half when defence is tired. Give palmer some minutes as he's earned that right this season like when vardy won the prem and sat on the bench all tournament
You can see the players know the system is wrong. These are intelligent boys trained every day at their clubs by the best coaches in the world. And they look absolutely shattered.
When I heard this comment it made me furious... wtf you have not found a replacement to phillips in how long? FA should sack him in the morning and make a point that this is not acceptable... the nation being mugged off year on year and we all buy into it
Take Stones out, play Alexander-Arnold on the right wing, play Rice at centre back (he's playing like one already) supported by Konsa and Guéhi, play Saka on the left (he's done it before), play Wharton next to Bellingham with Foden behind Palmer and Kane or Watkins.
As an Englishman I am embarrassed how pathetic our team is ,the football they play is soooooooo boring and devoid of any well devoid of everything no inventive play
People will say oh but we had great success under Southgate and we went to semi finals and finals. I think these talented squads went deep in tournaments in spite of him. If it was a competent coach, they would have won a tournament or two already.
It's not delusional to recognize we have some of the best attacking talent in world football. Poor management and maybe a psychological thing within British football. @@sisulart
We lost a golden generation because we couldnt work out playing both gerrard and lampard was a terrible idea. All these years later we're making the exact same mistakes with another generation.
I'm loving this, as an older fella (60) who has seen this with England for over 40 years. It's ENGLAND, It's what they do, the nation gets It's hopes up and the team falters. Nothing ever changes .
@gustav709 they played 4 attackers and trent who can't defend. You could see they were trying to press the ball in the second half particularly. Just didn't do it well
@@scsutton1how can we show loyalty to manager who has destroyed our chances of winning anything? He's not fit to manage a championship side nevermind our country
So glad Goldbridge mentioned Alexander - Arnold and Foden and why they shouldn't be critiqued. I'm convinced SG is suing them as scapegoats for when England don't do well. Trent has never played a professional league game for Liverpool in the 6, 8 or 10 SO WHY TF IS SG PLAYING HIM THERE IN A MAJOR TOURNEY. Absolute joke its like SG don't even wanna win the Euros hes just like 'well we took part thats the main thing'
It wasn't the pitch that's baby talk. England were lounging on their arses everytime they got touched. Both teams were utter rubbish. Can't believe these guys are paid. No excuse for walking daisies half the match then not passing properly.
Im a german btw and I actually love some of your players like Foden so much. You got so many talented/top class players and your literally playing like second Bundesliga teams. It is actually insanely crazy how this is even possible. Even when England went far in recent tournaments I always said this coach has literally no idea what hes doing. He relies on individual performance by his top class players.. it always feels like your players have no idea what they are supposed to do on the pitch. Its actually exactly like Dechamps with france (hes atleast slightly better). I swear if England and France wouldnt have 18 top class players they wouldnt even make it out of groups.
I have to disagree, Mark. Right now, if England faces the Netherlands, England loses. Southgate has no plan and the team plays without cohesion: What a waste of talent. England will never win anything with Southgate in charge. Without a new manager this once in a century team will fall short. Sad.
once in a century team? dude you are overhyping the hell out of these guys. they are a decent talented team. but france, germany, portugal, spain, italy, netherlands, all have better squads than you guys.
@prestonjackson5656 Gomez was excellent for LFC while playing as a LB last season, granted he's not a LB, but still I feel would be better than Trippier there
Well, given that there wasn't a single MUFC player meaningfully involved in both games, it's astonishing to note that it's an almost perfect replication of Ten-Hag-ball. If the manager would just shave his head maybe? I mean, he also sounds the part in post match interviews. 🤣 Even down to the fans: pre-tournament/ pre-season "We're gonna win the league!!" /"It's coming home!" ... two games in: "What.is.he.doing? They're gonna destroy us!"😆
@@lukew6725 What's exactly the difference between winning the Caraboa or FA Cup in relation to getting silver and bronce medals in international tournaments? ... Just that one trophy is a cup, the other is a medal? Would you feel different if the second and third best in international tournaments got a cup instead of a medal?
I reckon he would just to save trent from this nightmare. All you need is a good DM, play him at right back. Play Gordon and saka on the wings and sit back and watch him ping 60 yard balls like he does for salah and diaz all day every day. But no Southgate plays him as a DM and plays foden on the wing. This is giving me a headache
I 100% agree. I’m not an English person but I support England because of Chelsea. They cannot keep scoring 1-0 and then stay tight at the back. It doesn’t make sense. They were lucky Serbia didn’t score to equalise and they were even more lucky Denmark didn’t seal the win. Please for the love of God with these talented players (use them correctly) and fight to 3-0. They have the capacity to score goals. They can but it’s up to Southgate and it would be a pity for them to exit early. If they keep playing like this I don’t see them going past the quarter finals…
We won't get to the knockout stages. We will lose next week because the opposition plays as a team and with passion and commitment. And Denmark will win. It's a sad state of affairs when Kyle Walker is our best attacking player
Everyone’s been telling you this for years, you’ve played the easiest games pre euros possible and looked mediocre, got the easiest group and still look mediocre. France/Spain/Italy/Germany/ Portugal v England would be a total bloodbath. I’d love to see Scotland v England first game out of the groups, think Scotland would cause a massive, massive upset.
Because checkbook or no checkbook, no one disputes the fact that Pep has the nous and the tactical awareness to get the best out of his team. Southgate can have both Messi and Mbappe in his team, even they will struggle.
@@JoSan3yeah i agree dont get me wrong i think pep is overrated af but he atill knows more ahout football management than southgate, heck why not bring roy hodgson back? At least hes got experience on his side what has gareth got? Well nothing...
Southgate should've gone after we sat back after 15 minutes and played for penalties against an ageing Italian side full of pensioners in a home final at wembley. Gutless. Not to mention bringing players on to take penalties that hadn't kicked a ball all tournament
@@sammybeck4855 The latter is the worst. The entire history of penalties tells you not to bring on players cold to take penalties in a penalty shootout. Absolutely utterly criminal and completely threw them under the bus
I cannot believe we have Kane, Saka, Jude, Foden and Co and we sit back and defend for the rest of the game right after you score. And they're being told to do this?! It's absolutely unbelievable. I just don't understand.
The other issue with the Trent problem is that why the hell is Southgate experimenting like this at a tournament? He's had numerous friendlies and the qualification campaign to hone his tactics/squad selection.
Here’s an idea: the first team that gets knocked out of the euros should let their manager manage England just to show that even the manager of the worse team at the euros could do a better job than Southgate.
Eh? He complained about the tactics everyone mocks United for..... He knows it, but wont do anything about it. United fans in for another anti-football bore fest this season under ETH.
Not even an England fan but Southgate has lost it. I literally fell asleep during that second half. He's got the nerve to come out afterwards and talk about Kalvin Phillips when he's got Mainoo on the bench. Palmer also not involved again. Unreal.
It was such a frustrating watch, I wasn't optimistic at the beginning of the tournament and getting less if that's possible. I don't think Southgate has the ability to change his tactics
It’s hard for me not to look at Southgate and see the similarities between he and the US coach, just two under qualified old men with zero ball knowledge or tactics managing rosters that are LEAGUES above their quality as coaches.
You’ve perfectly said pretty much everything I see as a problem with England. Kane needs to relax with the dropping into midfield because the system he’s in doesn’t suit it. Even if he does it, he can realistically only play it to Saka because Foden (even if he is selected to play as a winger) will always look to drift inwards rather than stretch the pitch. It’s just too disorganized and Southgate doesn’t seem bothered about the lack of offensive structure because England has become a team of: “Vibes FC”. It’s not serious.
Thomas Frank the only English Manager i can think of who is tactically sound. Wish they'd get him as manager. He would understand all of our rage. OFC i'd kill for Klopp or Pep... but that'd never happen sadly.
You English tend to get carried away your top of your group. Last WC I heard the same arguments after group stage and you missed out on the final to France to a missed pen kick. Complete overreaction
I put money on now that Southgate is black mailing someone in a high position in the FA. He's deffo got some dirt on someone, and it's going to get exposed within the next 5 years.
The England team is actually good enough to win this tournament. However, if they do it will be in spite of Southgate not because of him. I think it was in Italia 90, when Bobby Robson’s was the England manager, after some mediocre performances, the players persuaded Robson to change tactics. As a result the team were extremely unlucky to go out in the semi’s. Thing is this England team are too young, generally, to challenge Southgate’s tactics.
Southgate is a defender and he can only think about defending. He even said in the press conference that England can’t press further up the pitch, but they need to press further back in their own half and be compact. He puts on Trent, who is known for his long balls forward, but we didn’t have any players running forward. Then he puts on forward running players and takes Trent off😂. He has taken the freedom away from players who are normally used to a fast pace pressing game in PL. At least we didn’t have any offsides, as none of our players ran forward.
Naah, england defending last night is horrendous, if Guehi not playing I think England will lose😂. Heck i'd even think Southgate should call and play Maguire, that back 4 last night is so bad except Guehi, but Rice also play badly. The attack is a mess, foden and bellingham keep being in the same space, kane need to track back so far, trent shouldn't even play.
As a neutral, I noticed that after scoring that first goal Denmark came on hard and the pressure was just stacking on England , and eventually the pressure overwhelmed the team and they conceded. You only really need one goal to win a game, but Gareth Southgate makes the same mistake of allowing his team to get complacent after scoring a single goal, believing that will be enough to get them the points. England needs to adapt to a new style of football that can compliment their attacking talent. The best way they can defend their lead is by scoring more because England doesn’t have the quality of players to defend a one goal lead.
Southgate loves rainbow flags and ticking boxes and says the right things that's why the FA and press love him and why Redknapp and clough never got the chance, they spoke out to much.
Can’t see us getting any further than the quarters. Kane highlighted in the post match interview afterwards that the team instructions aren’t clear. I also think a major factor is he doesn’t inspire the attacking talent we have to perform
Let’s be clear, we can’t blame Southgate. Nobody is going to turn down the England job. The FA that kept him on despite the evidence that he’s not good enough are the ones that need to take responsibility, let’s not let them quietly sit by and let Gareth take the heat.
If you accept a job and don't do that job well, you can be blamed. In this case, it's both Southgate and the FA who aren't doing their jobs up to standards. I'm not English, but have been wondering why oh why do they keep this guy as the manager. He must be well connected.
@@Kivikesku The problem you got is that he s got the results. He reached a final. So, no. It s not that easy. Even though we can all see he s not good enough. He certainly could argue with you.
