Pigs are highly intelligent and moving them to new locations will keep them from not getting bored as they do in small pens.

When and i repeat WHEN you get the tractor buried again, use planks under the bucket as you lift, bucket wont sink in and you'll get more lift. Better tires would help enormously. Thanks again for sharing, warts and all..

From time to time i get flu and need 2 weeks off work(more as i get older). What happens if you cant work for a while, is there some kind of backup or help you can call on?

Thankfully between neighbours and family I think we would have it covered. 4 out of the 5 of us could probably do all the daily tasks solo if it really came to it but we are aiming to make things as minimal effort/efficient as possible.

Oil seed rape has gone form £200-300 to £1000 a tonne, maybe you could get a quick cash crop in???!!! Will it be purely animals or do you keep an open mind on it all???

It’s a good point, got to be open minded. The livestock will only break even at best and are mainly to help with the land than anything at the moment. No intention for arable as only one field that would be possible, that said we have left quite a bit to hay which like most crops will be at a premium too. I imagine the same increase in fertiliser will be a huge issue for many.
