Yes, I think a piezo buzzer buried so far up under the dash that you can’t find it would make a great low fuel alarm. And I’m guessing it’s only a matter of time before an access panel in the back of the cab gets made to access the solenoids without removing the cab. At some later date an engine mounted belt driven air compressor from a semi would be a good upgrade also. In the interim, using shop air to air up the wrecker would help. Fire trucks use a special breakaway fitting for that purpose so that when they are in the station they are connected to the air system in the garage and when they go on a run they just drive off and the connector just pops off with no damage.

When I first saw this wrecker I assumed it needed to be that big to handle recoveries. I was wrong; it needs to be that huge just to carry all the add-ons (wenches, lights, welder, air, on and on). This may be the “busiest” vehicle ever. And the most impressive part is the Chad Fab crew demonstrating rare skill and expertise to make it all function. True artwork.

You should put an air fitting on the truck like fire engines have so you can pressure the system with the shop compressor. It will save wear and tear on those small compressors and not so much noise every time you go on a call.
@kurtgain2978

@notsevenfeettall engine driven air brake compressor with electric clutch would be perfect. Also, climate there may not require a water drain on those tanks like here in the south, but I would still have a low point drain for condensation.
@chadsfab
@chadsfab Год назад
There is a fitting for connecting to shop air. Matt's time frame was so short that I didn't get time to fully leak test the whole air system. I'm sure there are a couple of small leaks. The 8.1 isn't easy to adapt brackets to for an engine driven compressor. There is a wire there for one if it ever happens. No air dryer on this, there isn't a safe spot for one and not much of need either. Hopefully they will drain the tanks regularly.

Perhaps some vibration isolators (rubber washers) might help with the noise of the compressors. Course up side to the box is it'll keep the weather off too which is always nice for stuff like that.

Plumbing the air tanks after mounting them & the compressors, Adding rubber boots to lugs & the list goes on & on. the amount of work you boys are doing to this wrecker is nuts. Getting this thing to this place from scratch has been a long road. You guys and Matts team has done an amazing job on this thing. I wish I had teams like you guys have.. My builds are super slow because its just one man team here.
