Some footage that I had just prior to Hurricane Jose. It was extremely foggy down at the Ditch this particular morning, with visibility around 100-200 feet max. Despite the poor visibility, the sound of cow stripers tail slapping the surface echo’d across the waterway.
I was hesitant to post this, because after looking at the footage I realized I went full googan level 9000....but at the same time I felt like it could be a learning experience for some people....and worst case you could at least laugh at my expense.
I wish that I caught the take of the plug on camera because it was truly awesome. The delay on the hook set came from the fact that I first had a very average size, 20 pound bass take a swipe at it and miss. Before that first fish disappeared back beneath the surface the plug was immediately SMASHED by a fish that was easily twice the size. Beyond the visual, the sheer weight I felt and the dramatic rod pumps that are only achieved by a huge tail strokes let me know this was a very big fish
Either way, it was definitely a fun experience to feel a striper pull me damn near off my feet! Thanks for watching guys!
