I just received my production unit the other day, and I've barely gotten acquainted with it yet, but I can happily report that most of your concerns have been adressed since your review. So thank you for your input! For instance, the machine asks if you want to pre-boil the water right away, so it can putter away in the background while you tinker with the recipe, do your grinding, etc. It's also possible to set pour temperatures all the way up to 99C. You can control flow rate and rotation rate of the pours, and these can be varied at every step of your recipes. The scale is still integrated in the workflow of grinding, but it tares quickly and the resolution is in 0.1 g rather than 0.5 g. So most of your reservations have been adressed. The only thing lacking is a USB port, but I think that's understandable. I'm personally quite impressed with the build quality, and I'm looking forward to getting to know the machine better going forward! I definitely see myself using it on a daily basis. I probably wouldn't have paid full retail price for it either, but the Indie GoGo campaign offer was very reasonable, I think.

oh, and the logo is apparently still the same size, but its embossed in metal rather than printed in black, so it's slightly less of an eye-sore. :)

@@LifestyleLab_ Just got mine today and I can also report that the scale is a lot nippier than it was on the preprod model you had. I'm still very much an amateur home coffee maker, so I've not tinkered with a lot of the manual settings yet, so am not sure re: the rotation speed issue. The graphics on the control panel have not changed.

Really appreciate the thorough and honest review! Feel like a lot of the reviews so far on this machine have failed to mention potential downsides, so as a consumer I really appreciate seeing the full picture.

Best review of the product ever. Could not agree more with each one of your arguments. (Specially the one about the huge logo on the front. Come one Gevi, be patient, first grow sales, then grow logos :) Would still love to try it, specially if they will ship to Europe customs-free. Thanks for yet another useful video.

Thanks man. I’ve always enjoyed your videos and I was pretty excited when I saw this item. If you hadn’t been so thorough I probably wouldn’t plopped my money down on it and found myself quite frustrated with the items you highlighted. I’ll keep my eye on the channel to see if they address your concerns.

I’m on the same side, I would prefer it as 2 or 3 individual parts, some how may be interconnected. But lot of us may don’t need the scale or the grinder! I think as a pour over stand alone I would more attracted to get it. It is, in my eyes, bulky as one piece altogether. Hope some of your suggestions including also from other reviewers to be listened by Gavi team. Software sounds good and advanced but can get better. Software upgrading option is imperative to exist to this kind of brewer.

i love the idea of the auto pour over! i dont think leaving the grinder is a good idea thou, but if they developed the dosing and the setting it'll be a good machine

Not sure if you are still using the Gevi 4 in 1 but I've been using mine for about a year and I'm having an issue with the brew stopping and giving me a low water error even though its still full. I mescal it often and this seems to help but still occurs intermittently. I also have issues when trying to saturate my filter using empty water with rotation where it stops after only a few seconds. Any suggestions you can provide would be appreciated. When its working its great....but I'm concerned as the issues seem to be happening more frequently..

For some it may be redundant but for others that lets say have an espresso machine and want to upgrade their grinder and get the added benefit of a very functional pourover at the same time for a very good price. 120USD if the grinder is good is very reasonable. You should test the grinder with espresso machines. Could also be used as a single dose grinder, there may bellows that fit.

In been seeing this machine a lot now that they are building them. Seems like the big down side is that you have to move the carafe over to begin brewing. It would be incredible if they would have made it so that you can set it to brew in the morning that way you have fresh coffee ready to go when you are leaving for work n stuff.

I agree that the hardware is only as versatile as the software that controls it. If you can't control all aspects of your coffee-making experience, maybe the machine is not the right one but, I am guessing that Gevi has a specific target audience in mind.

I just wish it would come without the grinder, or at least give you the option without grinder and scale. I like the control for the brew options a lot, but already have a commandante and a premium scale. So just all the features and controls of the brewer for a reduced price would be amazing

Excellent video! I can see why Gevi asked for your involvement! I can guess the target market, which would include me if I was interested in returning to the pourover process I only used for travel. Can you guess as to a price point, or are you allowed to say?

Tip: there's too much reverb on your voice. Maybe close-micing, different mic or room treatment will resolve this isue. Hope this helps.

The grinder is still an odd inclusion to me, considering that vast majority of people willing to spend this money on a coffee maker will likely have one or more high quality grinders already. I would be interested in a stand alone pour over unit that didn't have the scale or grinder and brought the cost down a bit.

Thanks for the great review! I hate the name and the logo on the machine also. I don't think they have earned the respect to put the name on the machine at this point and such a jerky name at that Actually, believe it or not, it was one of the reasons I did not buy it. No need to think about the name "Gevi" every single morning and have that going through my unwoken mind. But will come back at a later point possibly and reconsider it.
