I know, right? Seeing the RU-vid layout from back then was a weird nostalgia/"that wasn't a very good layout" moment for me. It also made me feel old, as many things on the Internet these days are wont to do. Being someone who just used "wont" in a sentence without it just being a typo... twice now, I guess.
Nathan The old RU-vid layout was amazing. More options (you can't even dislike comments anymore) and didn't load 100 MB of useless JavaScript. It just gave people the video, comments and recommendations. Just what it should be doing, instead of serving ads and analyzing users to show them more ads.
BroudbrunMusicMerge I think there should be a limit. Like, you can still have ads without making your website a clusterfuck. I mean, websites have used ads since forever, except in the past five years or so developers stopped caring and now everything is slow and unusable without JS.
If I have a shitty internet connection, I won't realize this video is almost 9 years old until I see the old layout. That is how consistent his videos in quality for years.
See he is consistent but that might just mean he hasn't improved how he presents his videos (he obviously has this is just a example) consistency doesn't mean something is good

@@nnikitov57 This video is a reupload, RU-vid had a feature back then to be able to replace an uploaded video with a new file and keep the same url and upload date. Basically, keeping the original post and information but with a higher quality version in this example.
A petition to have "Trollface Girl" an actual song. This has been put on the announcements of the official Captain Disillusion discord and has been sent to the captain himself. He responded with a lol. We need more signatures if we're gonna have the captain take this seriously.

Scrolling down and seeing different people from different eras of youtube talking about how old youtube was so different is the best part of this video. RU-vid will continue to change on and on. As of now the most important thing on youtube is the most important thing in the outside world, the pandemic and the protests. Comment below with the current state of youtube future viewers :)
June 2021, here. Biden won, Tr*mp and his cronies are still feeling the after effects, but the world is still a capitalistic mess. But at least there's a vaccine. I just got my first shot, and I get the booster in a couple of weeks. So that's nice.

CD your videos are incredible, even from early on (aside from YT compression from 2007). Usually you can see a growth or change in content over the years from RU-vidrs "figuring themselves out," but you've always had such amazing talent and dedication to your content. Few content creators have claim to that. Love your videos man.

@@zk1273382 not to mention you used parodying wrong. Parodying can't be replicated over text because text doesn't offer enough visualization to be funny. Not to mention, "parodying" is repeating something in a funny way which isn't possible if you say it the exact same way. It would have been funnier if you're was used instead because that's actually grammatically incorrect.
Next time any of you see a video like this on one of those paranormal shows, pay close attention to the background music. In music theory there's something called dissonance. Unresolved dissonance can and WILL screw with your mind. The flatted fifth is usually the tool of choice. It's also known as The Devils Key because it sounds friggen evil. It has some unusual properties. If you play the notes in a certain way you get a paradox called a Shepard Scale. I'm not going to try to explain it here, but if your interested Google it or do a RU-vid search. You also hear something called The Locrean Mode ALLOT on these paranormal shows which cranks the weirdness up to 11!
The music, the sound effects and also just the lighting they choose to use and the fact that (like this dog video) they fill you up with context beforehand. They tell you, 'Today we're going to the most haunted hotel in all of Ghostville to find the ghost of the crying baby that's been scaring guests and employees alike for 75 years,' and then they wander around the hotel saying things like, 'I'm so cold! The temperature dropped 5 degrees just now!' and then do some shaky handicam bull and show a 'medium' clutching his head while mumbling things like, 'I just can't...the spirit. This place is so haunted.' Mood and setting is the only reason why the shows are 'spooky'. Same reason why a new church in a strip mall isn't scary at all, even at night, but an old, stone cathedral creeps people out, even in daylight. Setting, mood and the audience's expectations.
I've been binging recently my favorite videos, and now youtube has just recommended me this one that I had never seen! I think I have to dig deeper in the past, there may be more hidden treasures!

He's been using the same backdrop and costume for over 15 years. That's dedication there. Literally the only difference is the lighting, which has improved greatly
so have I, long before I had heard of EVP I used to play with tape recorders and you do pic up all sorts of "ghostly" noises, but its like seeing faces in clouds, your brain just makes up whatever you want to hear.

Well, I love Captain Disillusion and I love that he debunks things. Even though they're usually super obvious hoaxes. But I dislike that he implies that religion is a hoax. Everyone can have their own opinions and beliefs.

Holy shit I got on an effects and animation explaination binge again, found this channel, and watched so manny videos I'm now a full decade in the past when I should be doing my fucking homework or actually writing a script and beating out thumbnail drawings and story boarding for animation. What is wrong with me.
