When I first watched this scene my mind couldn’t comprehend it, just like batou being lured into the laced sequential illusion by Kim and also with philosophical take on the life of a doll. GITS was masterpiece.
This scene over the years took some time to really breakdown for me. Batou should be really commended for the fact that he was able to resist and remain in control. We always praised the major for her ability as a cyber warfare specialist. Batou definitely shines with his abilities as well.
I admit that this movie, among many other films, has won the lead deep inside my heart over the years. I can't describe with words my enthusiasm for this majestic mixture of dark drama, deep philosophy, crime and intelligence. This odd music from that scene keeps knocking my mind randomly sometimes
This reminded me of Constantine's mansion from the first Thief game when i first saw it, although it's actually a reference to the mansion from the book "Locus Solus" by Raymond Roussel, a major inspiration for the movie as a whole as well.
Oh man, time dilation is a bitch. That illusion lasted clearly a few minutes for Batou while the real world ticked only a few seconds. Had I have been Batou, and the illusion showed crows with a blue rose somewhere instead, I would be having shivers go down my spine for experiencing my most bizarre dream in my life in actual reality.
FWIW At 00:34 I think it is showing the music is meant to be like an old disc music box like this ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SUMakTB1FeA.html
