Our good buddy Jared harvested this beautiful Rocky Mountain Elk In Canada this past season. It was a long, slow stalk, and Jared made a perfect shot and the elk expired in seconds. Full freezer and great memories!
Wow, so glad you got the shot off, when I saw it flinch, I thought it was gone… notice when it does flinch it does not move its head, eyes still focus on you, that was a test to see if you would react to movement.
I'm guessing, not judging, that they are hunting elk in an area where they are acclimated to people. He was moving an awful lot at point black range. A typical elk would turn inside out
Keep guessing. You see the surroundings? Does that look like it's plum packed with people? They are huge, they are wild and they are dangerous when you get that close to them. Stalking is just as much about your will as it is being sneaky. You have to push in on them knowing they could jack you up. The wind and your scent will bust you long before their eyes will. Play the wind right, move with it for covering your sound. They don't see they way we do or in the same colors. Easier to blend in standing near anything else to break up your silhouette. They will spot movement but it won't spook them if you are slow and steady and still broken up silhouette. They will be confused just long enough to do what he did here.
I would even bet these guys were smelling that elk while moving up to it from a pretty good distance out. If you smell him and he's in front of you.. go for it.
Well the wind could be blowing his scent away from the elk. And elk don’t necessarily have good eyesight either and the sound of the rain could mask the sound of his footsteps.
@@CacciaOutdoors ive hunted elk all my life. Im 70 now. Never seen a wild elk jump up stop and stare at a hunter giving him a perfect shot, especially at 30 yards.
Do you not know anything about elk hunting? This isn’t your mom you can’t just throw ruby Tuesdays and a black cock on the table and have a 700 pound elk come running to you.
Yeah these private hunts are pretty easy hunt a bear and see how you do,hopefully have the balls to do it in the wild and not on some good ole boys ranch
