UM, ACTUALLY. You forgot to pronounce the two invisible q's so it's REALLY pronounce ibbqqin. lmao next time do your research before you try pronouncing words on the internet.
"On the first day of Christmas, Carmack gave to me: a Berserk punch, a player rocket, a BFG ball, a Cyberdemon rocket, a telefrag. And an explosive barrel explosion."
🎵on the 12th day of christmas, my true love gave to me... 12 exploding barrels 11 mancubus fireballs 10 arch-flame attacks 9 telefrags 8 cyberdemon rockets 7 baron of hell claw attacks 6 hell night claw attacks 5 revenant missles 4 bfg tracers 3 bfg balls 2 player rockets And a berserked player punch! 🎵
what I really love in doom2016 is how when you gib, the helmet falls down after everything else, which I THINK is a reference to how the helmet lands last in the original gib animation
Fun fact: while not directly related to Gibbing, you can squish corpses in doors. The Sprite will change out to a mushy pile in a manner similar to crushers.
@@xyz39808 nah cuz im curious on the black magic of old games even little things decino does what MarphitimusBlackimus do for half-life both of them look at the game code and explain stuff and how they mechanically work which is interesting on their own. they re examining black magic
Gibs are actually inspired on a mechanic from D&D, which when someone or something deals damage to a player more than or equal to the double of that player's health points plus 1, that player dies instantly, without having a chance to roll saving throws, which can have the player recovered from being killed and get back on game with only 1 HP. Judging DOOM has strong inspirations from D&D, as their developers used to have a session every time, they decided to implement it on the game they were making.
The change of music is a really nice touch. Just a few scripted videos ago you were concerned about the way you present those kind of videos but I think you're nailing it pretty well now!
Personally everyone around me pronounces both gib _and_ giblets with a hard 'g', but that may just be a local thing. I've never heard anyone outside of this state pronounce it that way.
I immediately assumed it was pronounced gib with a g, and I'd usually change the way I pronounce it after learning how it's pronounced, but it's just become a habit.
Thanks to this video, I need a new heart. Mine exploded into giblets at the cuteness displayed at 5:22. Please provide me with a new heart or else I'll have to sue. Thanks.
BlazingShadowSword heart has 200 health and deals 10-30 damage with a attack called “blood pump” Dog is a weapon that deals very weak damage which is 1-4 damage but will gib a heart if the heart is attacked by dog
Cacodemons are actually pretty vicious in melee, they bite hard, and very fast, so it's surprising that they don't actually have a sound assigned to it. I guess they thought the pinkie chomping noise felt too specific to share, and the regular clawing noise didn't fit, and they just didn't have any other sound which fit.
Some of the noobs that are messing around after playing 2016 might not of known. L learned on that one level full of em you have to run through or your swarmed and die. Jumped right on top of one lol
How to make SSG able to gib enemies? By codes, let's say. Set SSG "damagetype" with SSG, and set all gibbable enemies with "death.ssg", that checks range. If close enough, skip to "xdeath", else just skip to "death".
decino didn't mention Zandronum, but ok, it's fun to mess around with Zandronum. Technically, let's do the math with pistol damage boosted by runes: 5*random(1,3)(bullet damage)*2(strength rune)*4(Doomsphere)=40*random(1,3) 66% chance to gib zombieman with full health. But if his health will be below 20 HP, then he always will be gibbed with one bullet,
@@deanyktru9944 how to make SSG able to gib enemies, the normal way? for every tick in the game, process gunfire as normal, but only gunfire. all pellets will deal damage to the enemy, and the enemy will drop to the proper health after all shots or pellets get registered, go through every entity and check if their health is below 0. play their respective death animation based on their health
>Year: 2020 >Thing people are talking about: DOOM Eternal >Thing decino's talking about: The og DOOM "This is great" (DOOM Eternal) "But I like this" (Original DOOM)
In Quake, gibbing actually does something in gameplay: Gibbed enemies do not drop ammo, assuming that non-gibbed enemies give ammo. So, this changes the Grunt, the Enforcer, and the Ogre. Zombies in Quake NEEDs to be gibbed, otherwise they get back up at full health. I think they also get to full health if you leave him just a tiny bit injured for 4 seconds?(this might not be true) Shotgun and the Double-Barrelled Shotgun can gib with Quad Damage alongside all weapons in the game. Enemies have their gibbing health threshold set specifically(0 for Zombies, -35 for some enemies etc.)
Interesting as always. A somewhat unrelated question; since you list them as two different attacks, is there a difference between the Cyberdeamon's missile and the player's? Isn't it the same damage/hit ratio/etc?
A shame the melee attacks weren't reduced damage, as it would add an interesting dynamic encouraging close combat with player-sized characters, while you keep your distance from demons who are very damaging up close.
"I have no idea what you're planning to do with this information since gibbing doesn't affect the game in any way." You already said it. The satisfaction of how gibbin' enemies is glorious.
I like to use GZDooM with all the settings as vanilla as possible then add Smooth Doom, Bolognese mod with coloured blood for cacos and bruisers, hi-res sfx, spritefixing mods and either Doom Metal or Hulshults excellent IDKFA (still waiting for his Doom 2 wad! ). I feel it is a good Doom experience without sacrificing too much of that glorious vanilla. And I like to see the floor and walls painted with different coloured demon blood and ludicrous gibs.
"No demons were harmed..." That's not what I come here for. I want demons to... (Demon gets gibbed) I shall ignore this sleight against me and enjoy the violence.
4:46 i thought that a Zombieman or a Shotgunner would take revenge there from the previous telefrags xD (seems like you spent a lot of time trying to get the Gib animation with each enemy, so...)
To be honest, this is my most favorite thing to do when I was a kid. I even mess with a lightsaber custom WAD to amplify its damage so I can just gib everything with it.
Decino, your Doom analysis videos are really good. My friends and I adore watching them. What I personally really hope for is a video analysis of some gameplay mechanics in Quake, as I'm sure that game is a whole can of very interesting worms!
On the eleventh day of Christmas my true love gave to me- Eleven berserked punches, Ten player rockets, nine BFG balls, Eight BFG Tracers, seven Revenant missles, Six Hell Knight claws, five Baron claws Four Cyberdemon rockets, three Telefrags Two explosive barrels and a partridge in a pear tree
