GIK ACOUSTICS, was the best investment I have ever made for my HT setup! It took around 8 months to get, but well worth the 3k and time! Yeah, it was a big order and the customer service was spot on, great group of knowledgeable professionals! Keep up the great work of content Brother!!!👍
That you so much. That is exactly the direction I am going in. Not sure about $3,000 but maybe about $1,000 I can spend. I will keep you posted. I am going to send a video of my Treater Room (wife calls it a Living Room). I wanted to wait til I got my acoustic panels but going to video it this weekend (when laundry is out) and send it to you then again after my panels. Who knows, you may have some suggestions of what I need and where they should go. As always my friend, I appreciate you and your videos.. JL
Thank you. Another well thought out and informative review. I always enjoy watching your stuff! I'm not using diffusers in my home theater space as it is carpeted and has plenty of soft features in the room, but I may have to look into it. 😉
Jeff Wertz Carpet & soft furnishings will reduce a lot of echoes in a room. But it won't do anything for the sound from the multiple speakers bouncing off all of the flat walls! Absorption panels or absorption panels with a front scattering plate. On the side & back walls (4 inch thick or higher) will make the sound acoustics of the room much better. Ie better overall sound performance. The difference from me adding absorption panels with front scattering plates to my side walls and back wall was night and day. Plus I added a couple of GIK PolyFusors which are proper diffusers plus a hybrid also absorbing.
Informative video,I recently moved in to new house 3 months ago and trying to furnish it myself is expensive .In my living room i just have heavy black curtains and 3 seater black coach and a full klipsch surround speakers and double 12 inch klipsch subwoofers which does have a bit of a echo sound i did ask you about where to get acoustics panels in a previous video and yes i do intend to get these type of panels at some stage i just have to priortise other things first.
Hello Kpaceguy, I stumbled onto your site by surfing the net. I have enjoyed your videos because you speak on a level that I understand. Some of these guys are so technical, it sounds as though they are speaking in a foreign language. Anyway, I watched one video which you were buying new speakers and Definitive Technology, BP9080 was one of your choices. Did you purchase them? I love DT speakers, and this is my second set of them. I now have BP9040, CS9060, SR90940 and a Powerfield15 subwoofer. I also have 4 in ceiling Yamaha NSIC800. This is powered by a Yamaha RXA2080. The reason I am telling you all this is because I am having an issue that I was hoping you could or would help me with. I am having trouble with getting the high end of the sound such as glass breaking, hitting a chime, etc. Watching videos on the net has just completely confused me. In your opinion, what would you do to get the sound I am wanting? Install panels, (if so which type) purchase a new receiver, place my speakers closer/further from the wall, toe them in, etc. Any advice you can offer, I would greatly appreciate it. Take Care my friend..... Jeff
Being from the UK, I paid £140 ($190) for the Pro Series gik acoustic panel and it only took 5 days to build and be delivered but mind you it doesn't do the mid-range bass, I think it's only 2" thick! It's actually got the exact same finish as yours, you gonna think I'm copying you! Lol
I ordered the alpha series 1D panels, they wont be coming til Feb so a long wait. I do like the look of the impression series but went with the alpha since GIK claimed they would offer a better diffusion compared to the impression series.
Neil K did you get the regular GIK Alpha panels or the much better Alpha Pro panels? The regular ones are inferior foam and very thin only 2 inches depth. They will do little for the mid frequencies. Whereas the better Alpha Pro panels use superior mineral wool. Plus come in the higher thickness 4 inches & 6 inches enabling broadband absorption.
Bro 68in tall... ? I started with a big area rug... but I definitely need some acoustic treatments... in you future video maybe touch on how to know what frequency treatment to get
Use at least 4 inch thick absorbers. As the 2 inch thick or lower ones will just absorb too much high frequencies. And use mineral wool ones as they're better than foam. Some people prefer absorption panels with front scattering plates as it gives a balanced sound. Some people prefer just absorption panels, you will have to try both to see what you prefer. Then there's actual proper diffusers that can make a room more immersive. Most well done rooms use a mixture of both absorption and diffusion.
All right my friend, you now have both me and my wife (she has no idea) subscribed. I need some help with my setup as I described below. Anything from anyone would be greatly appreciated. I have my old set of DT for sale: 2-BP10 (front), 1-C1 (center) and 2-BP2x (surround).
@f10italia naturally they reduce echo but more importantly they reduce the overly chesty sound of mid bass and tighten up the sound around the frequencies they treat.
