One thing I didn't mention in this video is the price of quest 3, which is indeed $500. Which is way too much money for something people aren't even certain they want to put their time in. I bring this up because there is supposed to be a Quest 3 s that comes later this year. Which is just as powerful as quest 3, but some of its features are gone. It's supposedly going to be in the price range of 200-300 dollars. Which is still a lot 💀. But hey, I just wanted to put that out there.
Go figure WB makes another bad decision as if shutting down the potential Batman Beyond film idea by some of the folks who worked on the Spider Verse films was bad enough….
VR exclusive game Walking Dead Saints and Sinners recently reported to have made 100 million $ in revenue with 80% of that beeing on quest. If this game is good it will be successful. Maybe not as successful as a AAAA multiplattform 2D game but it doesnt need to to be successful I mean 2D games like Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad both failed so making a game none vr doesnt guarantee success either. This can be their biggest hit in the DC universe in years
@@tmgghost9895 yeah but they failed 2 times in a row on older technology (gotham Knights, Suicde Squad). Time to try something new and become successful again
Well you can get a Quest 3s for $300 this fall if it a money issue. Or you can do a payment plan for $25 a month on it. Also VR is growing cause as of last year it was on par with the xbox series consoles. So VR is doing well
Meta is releasing the Quest 3S with a target price of $299 so if most people wanted access to this game and the entire Meta VR catalog they could have access. It’s not that they don’t have access it’s a decision whether to buy it or not. As of right now meta has sold over 1 million quest 3 headsets and they have sold over 20 million quest2 headsets which isn’t PS5 numbers, but to say, barely anyone isn’t correct. If they can repeat the success of the quest2 then that’s a lot of people.
@@catclaw3931 Exactly. Camouflaj did really well making that game and now they’re getting even better hardware to develop with so hopefully they outdo themselves with Arkham Shadow
Listen I get it, but out of all the platforms for VR, Meta is the best and most successful. That's just where the market is right now. Quest is the best selling VR headsets and make the most sales on games so yeah it's going to be exclusive. Also Meta owns the studio so there's that too
When the trailer came out I was excited to get it when it releases until I saw the Meta Quest logo but I didn't hate it I just didn't have one but I bought the Meta Quest 3 and am excited for it
As someone who has been into vr for almost a decade, I can certainly say that I completely understand why people are flaming this game. I mean our last official arkham game was released almost 10 years ago, and when the trailer was revealed for the first time I was hyped af cause I thought it was gonna be a new flat screen arkham game. And I'll admit, when it was revealed to be a vr game a part of me was super stoked because apart from the ps4vr arkham game and mods for other vr games, we had never gotten anything remotely close to a true arkham game in vr. But after a little bit, it struck me that most arkham fans have barely, if not, ever experienced vr, and that the fact that this game was gonna be exclusive on a $500 headset was pretty ballsy by Warner bros to decide. While the vr industry is growing substantially, it is still a low blow to arkham fans to say that the next game in this beloved franchise essentially has the price tag of ~$540. Nevertheless I will still probably play the shit out of it and love it, but I do recognize why most people are unhappy
I’m mostly curious to what the MR mode is, cause it sais it will have MR on the store. Guessing it’s just another ”tech demo MR mode” but one can hope that the game is actually playable in MR and thag it’s not just a 10 minute demo of like ”Scanning your home for clues”.
I have to agree. It sucks that this is a VR exclusive. But it still has the potential to have a great story and introduce exciting lore. The developers have some interviews on RU-vid where they talk about how passionate they are about respecting the Arkham franchise. They even said it was mandatory for every team member to play the games. So I have hopes that it’ll be interesting.
sadly as i will have stated earlier, theres a chance alot of arkham fans wont be able to play it at all, and that sucks and hurts the trust a bit, they really HAVE to make a real arkham game after shadow if the arkham games want to continue because if the next arkham games are vr only, people are gonna riot and not like it.
0:14 We weren't upset because it was releasing for VR, we were upset that it is exclusive to the Quest 3 headset. I have a Quest 2 but I can't play Batman: Arkham Shadow even if I wanted to. There's no way I'd spend around $800 AUD just to play this game, it's egregious.
The Quest Vr consoles are pretty open (they are based on android). Previous Quest 2 exclusives like resident evil 4 Vr ran fine on a quest 1, just sideload the APK and run it. You will probl play with ASW all the time but thats the quest 2s hardware limitation
FINALLY, someone with an actual brain is discussing this game. I swear man, the Arkham fanbase is one of the most rabid fanbases I've encountered on the internet.
Super excited for Arkham Shadow... I have had the Quest 3 since it came out and I find it much better than Quest 2 - not only the color passthrough, but I actually watch media with it... It does still have things it needs to improve, but if there is one thing I do like about Meta - they release hardware that has overhead and then keep launching updates that improves it over its life cycle. As for the game - I have loved the Arkham games (except Origins...) but to listen to every Ryan Payton interview I could find - I have really high hopes based on his personal passion and the fact the studio hired people from the original Rocksteady team. I can't wait to see the game play footage!
In my case the problem would be that it is exclusive to Quest 3, I understand that Quest 2 can't run the game, but in that case they should also release it for PCVR, if that were the case I think the backlash would have been less. On the other hand, the VR haters (who are many) will never accept that VR is already a viable platform and one in which it is worth investing time and money if you want unique experiences. What is needed is to convince that public that is upset by the announcement of Arkham Shadow in VR due to ignorance of the incredible potential that the medium has.
Well the last Arkham vr game wasn't much to write home about. What fans want is another Arkham game like knight and city and they say we hear you heer have a vr game
As a very long time Arkham fan. I think this game will be quite legit, but I'm just bummed it's only coming to meta. Even if it did come to ps5, I don't have that either so I'd just be you tubing it anyways lol
If it was on quest 2, id consider it. I just bought my quest 2 as the 3 dropped so the price of the 2 went down. I don't have batmans money to role play as batman haha. But hey, if you enjoy the game and have a way to play it, im happy for you. I hope it lives up to your expectations :)
How about they just use the engine and formula that’s worked well for them so far? That way you don’t exclude most of your audience and you also give the fans what they actually want Fans would buy the shit out of a full fledged new Arkham game Honestly it’s like WB are allergic to money
That’s a fair point, but WB hasn’t invested a dime into this, it’s all metas money, and I doubt any capable studios have approached WB with the same capabilities and enthusiasm as camoflaj. So really it’s like farming free money!
I'll give it a chance when they release it on PCVR as well. Same deal with Asgard's Wrath 2. I have a Quest 2 and a good gaming pc that can certainly run these games better than standalone can or will be able to for probably the next decade. Making it a Meta exclusive I understand, making people have to spend $500 on an entirely new headset I do not.
Listen, just as Sony and Nintendo makes exclusives for their consoles. Meta does the same thing. You want the next best thing, buy the new thing. While I love PCVR I also know that Quest is just where the market is at. So a lot of games are going to be exclusive to it since it's the leading hardware for VR and it's what the markets wants. I understand being disappointed that it's exclusive to the Q3, but it has to come sooner or later. As much as I love the Quest 2 everyone was saying that we needed an upgrade and we got one with the Q3. Someday in the next 2 to 3 years people will say the same thing about the Q3 and then they'll release a Q4. It's how business work when it comes to tech and VR tech is moving very fast
@Sully_murphy21 Give me a list of popular VR games and I’ll tell you whether I would likely play it or not. Besides, I’m not spending $500 on a, “Maybe I’ll play it.” When I could just get an Xbox series X for the same price
@@Wild-Card07Being in the game yourself on a Quest 3 is WAY more fun just watching it on your TV though so I dont see the point to not just play games like Assassins Creed Nexus, Medal of Honor A&B, Walking Dead S&S, Resident Evil 4, Metro Awakening, Asgards Wrath 2 etc. on Quest 3 as well. You could probl even sell your xbox, my PlayStation gets barely any use scince I got the quest 3
Before Suicide Squad was out I preordered it for $100 when Arkham Shadow was announced I bought a meta quest 3 for $700 if this game is as trash as Suicide Squad I’m never preordering a game ever again. Now I have faith in these developers and the Q and A they’ve done have been pretty good so I hope I’m not disappointed.
Well… if they didn’t make me drop hundreds of dollars on a dumb*ss machine I’mma use like 10 times I’d be happy I spent all that money on a ps5 for fkin what?
Because this game is made by Meta and Meta doesn't care about the other VR platforms. Sony doesn't care about PSVR2 too, and Valve also doesn't care about PCVR.
@@ClashRoyale-yy9sm watch any of the interviews and you will hear quite the opposite. It will have an Arkham Asylum length story with freeflow combat and you won’t teleport like in arkham VR
@webbyoyster I woulda loved a pc/rift version too, but apparently, by the data, less than 10% of quest users ever connect to a pc, so I can't see that being seen a good use of resources. Plus I'm sure they wanna try to sell quest 3's RE4 twisted my arm to update from Quest 1 to 2 as well, lol
@@sandwichicalresident evil 4 vr did actually run on the quest 1 lol, just needed to sideload the APK files. Batman might be same but I would much rather play it through pancake lenses either way
its not that we dont think the game will be fine, its just that this was a terrible way to put batman in the spotlight again, such a terrible way, do you know how many arkham fans wont be able to play this game at all due to sicknesses with vr that are pretty common? do you know how many people dont wanna own a vr headset for one single game? its ridiculous that the decision for it to be vr exclusive was made even if the game turns out good. they just really have to make up to the fans if the game sells well, cuz this isnt good.
What’s worse is that it seems like the folks making this care about the Batman series but not as many will be able to appreciate since I’d imagine the console is a bit expensive
i honestly dont understand people, why are you all so mad that its exclusive to quest 3, i mean think about it playstation does the same strategy they also put exclusive games on ps5 and not ps4 like Marvel's Spider-Man 2 so why are people mad when its about vr?? and some people say "im not gonna pay 500$ to play a game" a ps5 is also 500$ are you going to buy it because of a game like Marvel's Spider-Man 2? no, maybe its one of the reasons but not the only reason, you buy it to play a lot of other games not for just one game, to play it smoother, with better graphics, thats why people prefer ps5 rather than ps4 and so is it with quest 3, you buy it for other games to play it smoother with better graphics with much higher resolution and watch movies, and if you dont think thats valuable then dont buy it but a lot of other people think it is valuable. so stop hating when it doesnt make any sense
@callmevodka8318 Good explanation, but a lot of people don't know enough about VR or the games on a Quest 3 to consider putting their money into owning a headset. Playstation and X box have been mainstream for much longer than VR and have gained a lot of gamers trust over the years. Some people aren't looking to put their money into something they don't know much about or care much about.
Because its exclusive on a platform barely anyone uses and because there aren't many decent VR games overall apart from the same three everyone talks about lol
@@TGP482First I can definitely name more than 3 great VR games in general, and just on Quest. Second Quest has sold on par with the Xbox series consoles so no a lot of people pay VR games my guy and more will come over time
@blindpsychopath4368 Quest 2 sold on par not Quest 3, the platform Batman is releasing on, which already had poor player retention with less than 10% of buyers using it monthly, unlike Xbox. Making Batman exclusive to Quest 3 when no one owns one and cutting off all the Quest 2 users is senseless.
