Milanote sounds awesome! I didn't know it existed before this but I do a lot of crafting and DIY projects and this seems like an amazing way for me to plan and organize.
Thank you for an AD for a product I actually need! As in, I described to my husband what I would need in perfect a note-taking/organising programme and Milanote is basically that to a T. Yay!
Have you already done the “snatched baddie “ look? Lol I want to see how it is to transform yourself and do those Bella hadid eyebrows and the faux lip filler look with liner and contour lol
I think the creepiest part of this video is how Karolina, who normally has a pretty distinctive look, somehow managed to turn herself into the most generic looking person imaginable. Like, put her in a line up with half a dozen other Fall girls and I wouldn't be able to tell which one was her.
The intro, the "you guys hated it so of course I have to do it again"-attitude, the horror turn at the end-- Karolina embodies the kind of chaotic genious energy I need in my life
Honestly that fake wide smile is really what pulls the whole outfit together. Like little Annie says, you're never fully dressed without an extremely forced smile! 😂😂😁
Between the makeup and hair it made her facial features melt away. Bronzer is normally used to create sharper cheekbones and jawlines but in this case they just softened them to make her unrecognisable. She still looked cute but like a completely different person. Impressive. I want to learn this stylistic wizardry.
@@helenahsson1697 I hope you're right bc if you're not then that would mean at least half of my sock would be vintage in a few years (if you wonder how did they survive that long, the answer is: I have a lot of socks so individual pairs aren't worn that often)
“I am Karolina of Borg. You will be assimilated. You will become one. You will drink pumpkin spice.” Really, that first fake smile when she wore the wig just cracked me up. So on point. Oh, and when she turned away and swung her arm out at an odd angle - so perfect for the style.
Some people disguise themselves as monsters like vampires, witches or decaying zombies for Halloween. Karolina disguises herself as a 2010s fall girl, and that's nearly as unsettling
1. You look fantastic, especially when you put on the wig, i'd believe you make seven figures a year and send your kids to a Swiss boarding school. 2. Seeing you in any clothes more modern than the '80s disrupts my space-time continuum. 3. The ending was legit terrifying 😂 Amazing video!
I have to admit, the ending gave me flashback to when I made lattes for the Fall Girls. They really do shape-shift that quickly. Shudder... - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi
The wig really makes the whole thing. Watching you do your make up with the vintage hair, I was like "Okay, still looks a bit odd and maybe vintage", and then you put that wig on and BAM! Instant sorority sister at a midwest college in 2012
What's so weird is I STILL see ladies dressed like this every fall! You know how in historical fashion books it will say "this style was still worn in the following decade"? I had no idea this is what they meant!
I love how aesthetically it's 10/10 on point but somehow your overall vibe peeks through and the end result reveal feels like the midpoint in a movie where some girl who got transported to the future gets a makeover because she's had trouble fitting in.
I have always felt like a failure because I didn’t successfully follow trends (although tbh I legit love this style, skinny jeans and sweater is so comfy and accessible! Also I’m obsessed with sweaters) but watching this and really all Karolinas videos make me thankful that I go my own way-fashion really is so fleeting and changes so much it can’t determine your worth and beauty. But it’s still crazy how much stock we put in the looks and images and how we still so easily judge by looks-like everyone saying how she’s looks like blah rich girl-like presumably there are women just following trends bc that’s what you do, who we judge as shallow but have a whole rich personality we’re discounting
Please make this into a full budget horror movie. I'm guessing it would start with a young college couple preparing for a weekend away. They decide to grab some Starbucks as an early pit stop. The girl looks normal, but every other girl in the line looks...."fall girly". When on their way out a crazed customer grabs her hand and whispers urgently "The leaves....it's in the leaves.. KAROLINA", before some staff pull her off you and apologise. Once at the cabin things go from bad to worse. By the end of the movie, the bf is in pieces, and fall girl Karolina is prancing across his bloody torso, throwing fall leaves into the air with a giggly smile.
Not gonna lie, I was expecting to be underwhelmed by this idea, but it's crazy how entirely different you look in this outfit and wig and makeup! If you ever want to go out and not be recognised, all you have to do is put this back on, because wow. Also the ending 😂
When I went to school, this was the style of grown-up women. So I always thought that eventually, I was going to look like this, this was what I strived for, I always bought those large sweaters, put my hair up in a messy bun and tried to wear my blanket scarves like they didnt bother me, but never really could achieve the look. I thought I was not cool enough to pull it off, but now I know that all that fashion is not only a matter of your very own personal taste, but also changes faster than youd think. Man, I think I got a cooler grown-up woman than them fall girlies ever were😂
Was anyone else waiting for Karolina to say something deep-autumn, like “FALL-lelujah!!” “Leaves, leggings, and lattes!!” or “Leaves are just Nature’s confetti!!” The effect of the wig was unsettling. 🍂🥤🎃
Wow, I am actually horrified because you did it so perfectly! I can’t believe it, you literally transformed into THE classic Christian fall girl. Great job 🎉
This is so funny, somehow the wig was the key factor that made the look and transformed us all to 2010s lol. I still think the fall girl aesthetic is cute as hell and would unironically wear giant sweaters with skinny jeans. And I have a cardigan almost identical to the one you wore haha!
Idk what was more iconic : the pumpkin spice latte, the pumpkin as an accessory, the horror when she puts on the wig or the wide smile that will probably be following me in my nightmares for the rest of my life Autumn girl is now a halloween costume, the law was ruled by Meme Mom 😭
When Karolina first walked out in the outfit I was like "aww no she just looks like a really sweet teacher", but then the wig came and it changed everything.
The creepiest part for me was the weird circle hat! I never knew an IRL woman who actually wore one, but it was ubiquitous among influencers. It was like a secret handshake for people who sold their soul to the devil for followers.
Honestly though, great historical reference for fashion history students, but also it’s so good that we have so much access to historical resources through Instagram etc now
If you ever want to go incognito, that is the look for you!! The transformation was terrific. I do still see women wearing that same exact outfit, so I guess the 2010's are back or never went away in America.
They're all really simple pieces that are only marginally different from items that are still widely-used under a different name today, and most of them existed with relative popularity before the 2010s, so yeah, kind of by default that's going to be the case.
Just because some people are still wearing outfits like this doesn't mean it's back. If anything, this kinda outfit has become a mom-fit, because millennials from the early 2010s are now at that age and stuck in that style.
Well, it's a comfortable, easy to put together look, you don't need to buy new pieces for. I'm not surprised, people stick with it. I don't think, there's anything wrong with sticking with the styles of your youth, necessarily, either. Aren't we kinda against having to chase after 'current fashion' and continuely having to 'update,' our wardrobe with new pieces on this channel?
Much like everyone else, I'm kind of terrified by the results - you look like yourself in every other era you've done, but suddenly in this one you are unrecognizable. So, like, really well done! But also uncanny af.
I was not really expecting to be shook by this but once it all came together it suddenly all felt so odd. Like, this is flawless. It looks exactly like I remember people looking. It makes me wonder if someone who had been alive for your other historical looks would feel the same way seeing the result. That is, impressed, amused and strangely unsettled
now THIS is historical costuming! I love how you choose not only more usual eras for making outfits, like last century or Victorian, but also graciously incorporate modern iconic styles. this is so fun to watch! also, I've never worn Fall girl aesthetic myself, but like I've always thought that this look is a slay.
That feeling when I still dress like this 💀 for real I've been dressing in that style since high school (I am near 30 now) and have no intention to change anything. Oversized clothes don't suit me, so i guess i am stuck as 2010 girl for the rest of my life
When she came into frame in the hair piece, I was immediately transported to a PTA meeting from 2016, and I've been wearing slightly racy things to drop off my kids in the mornings (like a tank top) , and she just wants to know if I need to talk about what's happening at home (to make the tank tops stop)
I think my favorite thing about this is the dead eye stare and run towards camera at the end omg!! But wild how it's like the horror of you don't look like yourself in this type of fashion trend but also you're gorgeous in anything you wear so I'm like "ahhhhhh how do i react!!"
It turned out so well. You look like a totally different person. The wig looked so natural on you, which really makes you think about the women in the 2010s with ombre hair color...did their hair look like wigs?
Yes, and a lot of times it is (partially) fake hair. I was amazed at how many girls/women I worked with at the time that wore weaves, halos, or hairpieces of some type. They still do. I can't stand the thought of having another person's hair on my head, unless temporarily for a costume, but even now, the salon I go to has hairpieces in stock (or they can order it). It's something!
Personally, I have always had an aversion to hair like that. Because it inevitably does looks 'fake' to me. Even if it's real hair without extensions or stuff. If I can tell at first glance, it's the work of a colorist, I'm out, even if it's well done. It's like visible foundation or contouring, it just looks 'off' to me. And in case this sounds 'judgy'...consider how most of us react to visibly fake breasts or overly 'done' lips. Most people have a 'line', where they say: 'Eewww...that looks so 'fake''. I can't help, that these trends simply don't appeal to me. But to get back to your point...yeah. I'd say that you could make a case for this type of hair 'looking like a wig', because you can tell at first glance, it's not fully natural.
I still have my chunky knit sweaters and oversized scarves from 2010s. I still wear this stuff relaxing at home- the coziness is top tier. Do i feel like a millenial stereotype wearing these things while drinking tea from a huge novelty mug? Yes. But it love it. 🍂☕
this is a huge encouragement for me to use makeup to highlight unique features of mine instead of using it to water myself down you look so different it's crazy like who is that local
If you use a slightly bigger fluffier eyeshadow brush it will make applying it much easier. It won't deposit too much powder in a small area, and it will be able to blend the powder out more easily!
The WIG! Oh my goodness I was NOT ready! I saw one of these ladies leaving the grocery store the other day, bleached extensions and all. It was still in the 90s (fahrenheit) here!
I don't recall ever feeling this conflicted about a transformation video. The look is so accurately executed, and flies in the face of my previous perception of the person. Well done. xD
My god, the hair. That look is so much the hair! To me, that suuuper WASP look is distinctive in having SO MUCH makeup on. Like, Karolina wasn't exactly bare faced, but she didn't look as incredibly airbrushed as those women tend to - I say this as a non-American who wears zero makeup, so every era of Perfect Amerian Woman is a lot to my eyeballs. She really could absolutely knock it out of the park though, if she needed to hide her identity for some reason.
Unironically I would wear any and all of these sweaters because they are heckin' COSY and my anaemia demands I stay warm. I genuinely own like a dozen sweaters because I will just layer them with cardigans in a desperate attempt to not freeze to death.
If you like the sweaters, wear them. If you like them with skinny jeans, pair them. You do you. What i would like to ask of you if you happen to be a rich WASP from the US, is to check your privilege. If you don't understand what i mean, Fundie Fridays just has a new video out about Pearl which shows exactly what unchecked means. Also, i personally dislike the fake hair & the fake smiles, but that's just me, don't let that stop you.
@@LeafHuntress uh I’m Irish and I have no idea what a WASP is aside from the insect so this comment has me slightly confused so I’ll go check out that video, but I’m not sure how me needing to stay warm is privileged
As a white, Christian girl who was about 9 or 10 years old when this style was all the rage, I’m STILL recovering from the impact of this trend 😂 I never really liked this style, but everyone in my circle was wearing it so I though it was normal?? Thank goodness I can find bootcut jeans again. Skinny jeans were and are and always will be the bane of my existence! 😂 This video is too accurate! 💛🧡♥️🤎
@@AlexaFaie Oh, I guess I was referring to 2014 and 2015 when this style was extremely popular. It’s kind of faded away (at least a bit) since then. I’m 18 now, to answer your question 😂
I attend a church where the demographic in 2017 was mostly white, middle class. This video reminded me of how the women all dressed the same and did their hair the same. I'm glad the last 5 years brought a variety of styles to that demographic because they don't all look the same anymore. The style still looks good on some women, but it's too bland to be popular. While, I'm in the demographic it was most popular with (except for my ethnicity) I never had the body shape, hair type, or the desire to dress like that so my wardrobe has nothing to go with the style expect for a pair of skinny jeans and ankle boots.
One of my favourite things about your videos are the dead-pan psychotically sudden endings. Although this one was psychotic in a more obvious way, it still tickled me pick. Very good.
Ha! Loved this! Your face when you put the wig on! It reminded me how fun it was to play around with styles and "looks" and not even recognize yourself in the mirror. It's probably the only time you can objectively look at yourself and realize, "Hey! Not Bad!"
