I think a lot of people misunderstand this scene. When Quinn was talking about the future she was talking TO Rachel since her advice about Finn's proposal to Rachel was that Rachel should think about her future and should not drag the past (aka Finn) into it. And since Quinn was talking to Rachel and for Rachel this is a dificult decision the camera zoomed into her. Because it was suppose to show her battling with herself. She is not jealous of Quinn, she is confused about her future with NY and Finn.
That's what I thought it's supposed to be as well. I was looking at other comments aboit jealousy and was wondering, "What....what does this have anything to do with jealousy..." Besides, Rachel's aim has always been New York and study music or something in university. So why would she ever wanna go to Yale? And therefore, she wouldn't get jealous because Quinn got into Yale.
This could have easily been a cheesy, sappy feel-good speech but Quinn's (Diana Agron's) delivery and emotion nailed it - because this ISN'T a just a feel-good speech - she's actually achieved these accomplishments by having to endure and push through lot of pain, uncomfortable truths, and hardship. The moment that gets me she says "You can't change your past" - the somber way she said it, the pained and misty look, the steely voice really made you feel the pain in her voice that she must still feel in some way in that moment - but then brightens when she says "but you can start your future." Excellent writing and of course a very talented actress to pull that off.
Jealousy is Rachel's biggest flaw. Quinn's flaw used to be jealousy but she got over it. Rachel didn't get over it and she still hasn't. We saw that in Funny Girl when Santana became her understudy.
BuddahFlower you’re wrong on the funny girl one. Santana was so mean to Rachel and didn’t think she would actually achieve her goal and then when Rachel finally achieves it Santana did all of that
quinn grew so much im so proud of her. she went from being obsessed with perfection, caring only about status and relationships and hating herself for her past mistakes to realizing what's important in her life -- her future and her own happiness
So nice that Mercedes was the one to tell her they were proud! They had such a great friendship in season 1 and they always seemed close in the background.
She even lived with Mercedes while she was pregnant, and Mercedes was there at the birth. Their friendship was amazing and I’ll never forgive the writers for just forgetting about it like it never happened
PerriesKiwi First off the scene at the beginning was about Rachel telling Quinn about marrying Finn and it was a way to get Rachel to reconsider so yeah... and it's not like Quinn is little miss perfect...🙄
Everybody who's commenting about Rachel, here's a story kids. In the scene before, Rachel asked Quinn for advice, because Finn had proposed to her. And Quinn was a little bit to harsh to her. AND Rachel already knew about Quinn getting in to Yale, Quinn told Rachel first, and then she told everyone else about it this scene.
0:38 Can we just acknowledge how proud Will was of Quinn? He was harsh to her in 3x02 and while I do think it was a hard delivery, if you pay attention to that scene, Will's eyes were misty when he scolded Quinn. It showed that he didn't want to yell at her but he was so hurt by Quinn's words and by her downward spiral that he felt he had no other choice but to tell Quinn to "grow up". And the nail hit the head. Quinn rose above everything she had been through and in that moment 0:38, she made Will so proud. Despite his immature acts at times, Will is truly devoted teacher who cares deeply for his students and so seeing a student who was in so much pain rise above it made him so proud.
Amazing through all they’d been through and as much as they seemed like enemies, deep down Quinn and Rachel were really friends. I think Quinn *got* Rachel more than anyone. Santana, Mercedes, and Tina always seemed to have this petty jealousy of Rachel, but Quinn never really did, at least not when it came to performing. They only really fought over Finn, but that only really lasted on and off for a couple of seasons. Maybe because she had non-music aspirations, Quinn had a more open mind about things.
well of course they get jealous!! I mean who wouldn't be if you sat in glee club and wanted to sing! But this one person always gets the spotlight!!! How would you feel?
People saying rachel is ungrateful and jealous but the scene before this quinn told rachel not to marry finn. Quinn also stated that its important to let go and begin your future which she said staring at Rachel. Rachel is allowed to be upset rn, and its not because shes jealous
Orla Thorburn yeah but it was unavoidable here because of the before scene. Plus Quinn was directing her speech at Rachel. They should have done it all different if they wanted Quinn to have her own scene
I want to know if in real life somebody went through teenage pregnancy and still got into a college like Yale. Probable because she gave the child up so she didn't have to spend time out of study to take care of her. She still is an inspiration
And here I am the only one that thought this was a Faberry scene. The way Finn looked suspiciously at Rachel and back at Quinn. And Quinn used to "hate" Rachel. She obviously regretted and then they started to build a beautiful friendship, I love that Rachel went right to her to tell about Finn proposing her to marry him. And that Quinn first told Rachel about Yale before telling everyone else. So these scenes are confusing and I think they did it in purpose. The close ups on Rachel's face and all. When she hugged Quinn to congratulate her there was a close up of her face as well. And then Quinn says "you can't change your past", like everything that happened between us can't be changed, "but you can let go, and start your future", like now we can make it right. The way Rachel smiles and holds her arm and stares back at her. When the camera goes on her it shows her thinking about what Quinn just said, more like how things changed between them. And yeah, Quinn told her not to marry Finn. Wouldn't this make you consider the person's intentios? How Quinn later was still so against their marriage. That's why I think the writers were just playing with the Faberry fandom. If Quinn was a boy (no matter his sexuality), everyone would think that these scenes were leading into a new romance. Truthfully, it's so depressing that everyone here was thinking that Rachel was being jealous. You need to watch the whole thing before saying anything. She did congratulate Quinn, hell, she was the first to know (and nobody nor even Finn knew that she already knew). And it surprises me that people think it's about Finn. Quinn wasn't interested in him anymore. And she looks at Rachel right when she says "I was the only one standing in the way of myself ". How is it not about them? I really think she was talking about the way she was with Rachel before. That smile from the brunette tells a lot. Here I am once again not forgiving Glee for making me a fool 🤣🤣🤣🤣 when Rachel said "we are kind of friends huh" and Quinn in a flirtatious way replies "kind of" WTF are you kidding me dude, and other one was when Quinn asked Rachel "when you were singing that song (Here's To Us), you were singing it to Finn and only Finn right?", AND RACHEL JUST STANDS THERE AND DOESN'T ANSWER. Rachel hugs her and Quinn shows a "in love/sad" face. Not to mention when Finn announced they were really getting married. Quinn looked miserable. How people didn't question all this is beyond me. If they were boy/girl or especially boy/boy, I'm absolutely sure that people would think Faberry is real and makes sense.
I totally understand Rachel. It has nothing to do with jealousy she couldn’t be more proud of her. It’s just hard to watch all of your classmates making plans, got into collège and all. And you’re still hesitating. It’s just confusing and can make you feel bad but it has nothing to do with wanting to go to Yale. It’s sometimes the same in relationship. You’re watching your friends having good healthy relationship. And then you go home and say : why can’t someone love me for who I am? And it doesn’t mean that you want to steal your friends boyfriend. You’re looking at yourself in both of this situations and asking yourself : what about me? Because helping your friends but you have to think about yourself and what you want. So NO Rachel isn’t selfish, jealous or anything
Sharon Williams no it's just the scene before Quinn told Rachel she shouldn't Mary Finn and tell her to say goodbye, and Rachel doesn't want it to happen, long story short, Rachel didn't like the advice Quinn gave her
Tbh you’re right she isn’t happy for Quinn if she was she would forget about her for a minute and congratulate Quinn on her acceptance into Yale but she thought of herself this is Quinn’s time come at me but I’ll ignore you so yeah this is my opinion
All these hate on Rachel makes her the most compelling character. You all can't leave her alone. She was really happy when Quinn told her she got into Yale from the previous scene. Quinn is actually making Rachel realize that you have to achieve her dream first before she marry Finn. She might be a bit jealous but that is not all it.
everyone can say whatever the want but we all know that rachel is uppset bcs shes finnally realizing that high school is ending and shes not gonna see quinn anymore🙄 Faberry❤️❤️
I hate how everything good that came out of Quinn was involved with Rachel like when Quinn said she was applying, she was talking to Rachel and Quinn's message at the end of this video is focused on Rachel like DAMN can she not feel good about herself for one moment without Rachel stealing the attention?
Guys Rachel isn’t jealous of quinn for getting into Yale. Quinn was giving advice to Rachel in that speech because quinn told her to not marry finn and stay in Ohio
the way in reality YALE's drama program (quinn's program) actually only accepts high school graduates who are 5 years out of high school or someone who already has an undergraduate degree.... so there is no way quinn got into YALE drama that early???
Quinn had a beautiful performance and shared some amazing news but did she got the spotlight in this scene? No, it was poor sad Rachel and her failed audition
Sometimes when Rachel can't achieve and others can, she wants to cry about it and it pissed me off even more when later in the series she decides to DROPOUT of NYADA, like, what the hell?
Danylynn DustyRose this moment wasn’t suppose to be about Rachel thinking of Nyada she was thinking of her decision to marry Finn. Quinn’s words were directed at her
It isn't about college for Rachel in that scene, it's about Finn asking her to marry him. Rachel and Quinn talked about Quinn getting into Yale and Finn asking Rachel to marry her, before Quinn said all this. Quinn told Rachel not to marry him for multiple reasons that I don't care to explain, if you want more details, watch the scene. Some of that speech was about Rachel as well as her.
Omg what is with this Rachel stole Quinn's moment clearly you didn't watch the beginning before this god acting like Rachel always the bad guy and how is Rachel not happy for Quinn she is happy Quinn was the one staring at Rachel giving her speech dang...🙄 annoying asf hearing that crap...
That's not what's happening here, Rachel already knew Quinn was going to Yale. Quinn had told Rachel about it before telling anyone else. After she told her, Rachel told her about Finn asking to marry her, and Quinn said she can't marry him. A lot of that speech was directed to Rachel. Have you even actually watched the show? That's literally the scene right before this one.
She already knew because Quinn already told her, and when she found out, she got extremely happy and congratulated Quinn. That is literally the scene before this. I'm convinced you people haven't actually watched the fucking show.
Okay Rachel has a way of making anything in that choir room about her or selfishly focused. Here’s a girl who has had probably one of the most traumatic times in her later teenage years with a pregnancy and being kicked out, plz be nice Rachel Berry xx
Read the comments explaining the scene properly, which will mostly include talking about Finn asking to marry Rachel and all that. Or actually watch the fucking show. The scene before this one literally explains why she is like that. She isn't jealous.
Quinn go to Yale to be a lawyer or business owner and come back from college get married to puck and try to have a relaship with Beth and is pregant with puck baby their own start their family soon
She isn't fucking jealous. Lord have mercy have you even seen the damn show? Her and Quinn already talked about Yale, and Rachel told her about Finn asking to marry her. Some of Quinn's speech was literally directed towards Rachel.
