Are you interested to learn more about ceramic coatings for your boat? In the video, we walk through the application steps and share the before and after photos on a number of boats with Glidecoat ceramic coating.
After doing the correction compound and polish, you use the talents to remove the oils. I did see another video where they said you could use Dawn dish soap. What is your thoughts on that prior to laying the ceramic on?
Oh, last question, you said to repeat the process. Do you do the same section right away twice or do you do the entire boat once then go back over the entire boat again
Hi, will be applying your coating tomorrow evening or Thursday once the buffing is done. I use the new Turtle Wax graphene flex and or 303's version as a sacrificial layer for my car's graphene coating. Can I use the TW graphene flex spray on the boat for a sacrificial layer? If not, what can I use? Just looking to help the coating last longer like on my car. Thanks!
Hi Rich, yes you can use Turtle Wax graphene flex spray as a maintenance topper after our Marine Ceramic Coating has fully cured. We also have a similar maintenance product called Marine Shine and Shield, as well as a polymer infused soap called Ceraglo, which are both great products to help get the most out of your ceramic coating.
@@Glidecoat ....Thanks for the reply and information. If I missed it, I apologize, but I didn't see on the box, bottle or website that stated what the cure time is? I applied two coats to the exterior today, so when could it be put in the water? Wish I had before and after photos--my bad. Loved the ease of put on and wipe off.
Sorry the Alpha has a 5 year and the standard is only 18 months. Which one should I go with. I called Glidecoat and I really didn't get a satisfactory answer. They just said its better but, is it formulated for fiberglass and is it meant for boats?
The ALPHA is different than the marine as it was designed as a marine grade coating, but can be applied to multiple vehicle types - boats, cars, RV's, etc. The 5 year protection is for automotive applications. In lab testing, we found it would give 24 months protection in the marine environment, compared to our original marine coating which gives 18 months protection. Both coatings are safe for us on fiberglass and meant for use on boats. It really comes down to cost and preference. The ALPHA is slightly more expensive, but you get an additional 6 months protection.
My question is, which is a better ceramic for the boat, the standard glidecoat or the Alpha? It seems like the glidecoat has a 5 year warranty and the standard it 18 months?
Hey @rahouston - I answered your question over on our ALPHA video, but wanted to give a quick answer here... The ALPHA has been shown in lab testing to outlast the marine ceramic coating. The lab testing shows the equivalent of 24 months protection, whereas marine shows 18 months. The 5 year protection we state on the website is based on automotive applications.
We don't have a video that shows that specifically, but we do have a customer testimonial video in which he explains his experience ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-H5kr7SZHZqE.html. Also, in this video, we are talking to Dean after 30 months exposed to salt water and UV - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QG43hJKhsDk.html I know seeing is believing so we will certainly add that video idea to our list.
@@Glidecoat Thanks for replying! I have been doing detailing for 20 years I'm familiar with ceramic coating the reason I asked it's because regarding gel coat I'm not so experienced with ceramics and I have some customers with TV's and some boats.
The glossmeter reading after averaged 86GU. We saw some areas read as high as 93.9GU. For more background check out the video Nautical Ventures did where they interviewed Christian while he was detailing this boat. It shows the gloss readings before and after as well: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-54D0p_Ahsp8.html
Our Marine Ceramic Coating is designed for use on boats to address the specific challenges of the marine environment and gel coat. But we do have an Auto Ceramic Coating available on our website at www.glidecoat.com.
