In general, trigger points in gluteus medius hurt most during walking, slouching in a chair, and lying on the back (compression of the maximus compresses the medius), or when the muscle is directly compressed.
The pain can be intense enough to keep you awake, or wake you up if you roll over onto your side, compressing the trigger points.
This can make sleep difficult if you have these trigger points on both sides.
These trigger points could be mistaken for sacroiliac dysfunction, can be a reason for “failed surgical back,” and may contribute to sciatica-like pain.
Although trigger points in the gluteus medius tend to congregate near the tendon attachments, they can be found anywhere in the muscle.
When the gluteus medius and minimus are weakened by trigger points, trochanter pain (in the area of the hip ball-and-socket joint), sciatica-like pain and what some call “hip abductor pain syndrome” may result.

To treat gluteus medius trigger points, try using a foam roller or tennis ball to apply gentle pressure. Regular stretching and strengthening exercises for the glutes can also help. If the pain persists, consider consulting a therapist. Feel better! 💪

It's crazy because i started stretching a lot more this year and i was doing this stretch for my lower back and started noticing my gluteus medius started hurting bad to the point where my lower back started hurting..i must've over stretched that muscle since I've hardly stretch it.
@Nielasher
@Nielasher 24 дня назад
It sounds like you've been working hard on your stretches! Overstretching can indeed cause pain in the gluteus medius and lower back. It might help to ease up on the intensity and incorporate gentle stretching and strengthening exercises. Always listen to your body. Thanks for sharing your experience! 😊

How to release the trigger of this muscles and how to stretch it
@Nielasher
@Nielasher 4 месяца назад
To release trigger points in the gluteus medius, use techniques like self-massage with a foam roller or tennis ball, applying gentle pressure directly to the tender spots. For stretching, a simple way is to cross the leg of the affected side over the opposite knee while seated, then gently lean forward, holding the position to stretch the area. Regular practice can help ease tension. For detailed guidance, consider consulting a physiotherapist. 🙏

But why does it happen?
@heathermunoz6282
@heathermunoz6282 День назад
Mine happens because of my L4L5/L5S1 stenosis usually brought on because my core/pubic zone and GM has weakened.

I have trigger points 1.side of hip 2. Top middle of buttock. The joining line ends at thigh joining the torse. Is this glute medius?
@Nielasher
@Nielasher 5 месяцев назад
It sounds like those trigger points might be around the gluteus medius, located at the side of the hip and extending towards the buttock. For an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan, we recommend consulting with a healthcare professional. Good luck!

It's really difficult to determine if my pain is from the L5-S1 bulge, my glute med, or both.that and having a tight short psoas and illac and generally tight hip flexors just makes the glute med issue that much worse. Abbudctuon flares me up like crazy and my glute med gets all tight and knotted in those trigger points but only on the injured side. Which makes me think that my spine us not stable because my core stability is weak and my spine shifts because of the disc and muscle imbalance. It's challenging. I'm so close to seeing if I could get a nerve block or something similar that will work to get rid of the nerve pain so I can focus on working out these muscle imbalances.
@Nielasher
@Nielasher 2 месяца назад
It sounds like you're dealing with quite a complex situation. Balancing spine stability with muscle imbalances can indeed be challenging. Exploring options like a nerve block could provide temporary relief, allowing you to focus on addressing the root causes. Strengthening your core and working on hip flexor flexibility may help alleviate some of the issues. Remember, progress takes time and patience. You're on the right track! 💪

So what are you saying to do about the pain? Just saying it exists does nothing
@Nielasher
@Nielasher Месяц назад
We recommend hip abductor stretches, foam rolling the gluteus medius, and incorporating side-lying leg lifts to alleviate pain. Consistent practice can help reduce discomfort. 💪

Press the trigger points 30-60 sec until the pain is gone, locate painful spots and work them out. Use also foam roller.

Locate the painful spots (= tight muscles) with foam roller or by pressing with your finger tips. Work them until pain slowly disappears, it takes some time until pain reliefs.

@@gocukmuhendisi259 Merhaba arkadaş! Umarım kendinizi iyi hissediyorsunuzdur. Ne demek istiyorsun? Sorunlu bölgelere bastığınızda veya ağrı zamanla kayboluncaya kadar masaj yaptığınızda kas gerginliği serbest bırakılır. Hi my friend. Hope you are doing well. What do you mean? Muscle tension is released when you press on problem areas or massage them until the pain disappears over time.
