Lost my nephew exactly 1 year ago next month in a 1 vehicle rollover with ejection out in west Texas. He'd still be with us if he'd been wearing his seat belt. I'm glad it's just vehicle debris you guys are having to sweep up.

That long black bar is called a Torsion bar. It's used instead of leaf or coil springs on heavier trucks. It's locked into the suspension and actually twists when the vehicle suspension goes up and down. Prayers for both parties involved!

It runs along frame. We rolled one in the field a few months back playing around 😂 its the torsion bar between front and rear seats along the frame.

Torsion bars go between the control arms. So from front wheel to front wheel. Not along the frame from front seats to the back seats.

@@thejakefromstatefarm6768 That is incorrect; the torsion bar slides into a slot on the back/rear facing side of the lower control arms, and extends back to a cross member where a torsion bar key is attached and can be adjusted. They are on both sides of the vehicle. You’re thinking of a sway bar.

I drove a tow truck 2 years! Seen some horrible stuff! On call 24 straight with all police departments in our area. Will never do it again! Much respect for these guy's! ( and ladies) Road clean up goes with that job!

That bar you picked up was a frame torsion bar. They are a bioche to get in and out so if it's out you know the frame is bent 🤣

As soon as I saw the front wheels were turned, I thought, that's why I always carried a 4' pipe to use to pry the wheels straight. It's good you could use what was available on site.

That was a torsion bar from the front suspension of the Yukon. It's all about angles, people. A front corner blow from the whole front end of anything at speed is going to be hard to win.

Nice work man.. Witnessed a head on fatal last summer happend right in front of me had to slow way down to avoid the cars an debris.. Teenager crossed center line killed another young man late 20s teenagers Speedo was locked at 95 mph worst thing i have ever experienced horrific

That item is a torsion bar I remember replacing them in Chrysler products during the 60s and 70s they replace springs in the front end.

What a huge spread of pieces that ended up being. The other tow driver seemed like a nice person. Always gut-renching when you know a vehicle you pull up to. Cross bar that goes to the front suspension on the Yukon. That Chrysler held up shockingly well against that big Yukon. Thankful they are alive. Many don't make it out alive, especially the innocent

Considering if both were doing as little as 45mph each the combined speeds is 90mph on impact. Doesn't take that much speed to cause life threatening injuries.

@@bernardowens1648the combined speed is not 90. In your example impact will be 45. Both vehicles will come to a relative stop, and then the more massive vehicle will push through the less massive one. The vectors are opposite, they don't add.

You should look up Midwest truck Ron hooks up another chain to the main line and uses that to steer the vehicle up it's a pretty nifty setup

They're supposed to get mangled, it's called a crumple zone. That Yukon is from between 01-06, they don't crumple even close to as much as newer ones do.

I think you need one of those lapel microphones if you're going to be talking a lot while driving .... there's a lot of road and engine noise, so getting the microphone nearer your mount will only improve things. I love watching your videos but sometimes it's really hard to follow what you're saying :D

@@Towtruck_Dustin That should be fine! The people in the Gatlinburg towing videos (Everything Autos) use a little ?bluetooth? microphone that they keep pinned to the shirt. I don't know whether that gets added back to the videos in editing or is recorded alongside the video on the GoPro or phone. I'm sure if you reached out, you could compare set ups :)

That is a Torsion bar from the vehicle front suspension. Every walk back, pick up debris and toss it in the wreck Get one of those collapsible stands to hold the trash bag open for you. So all those broken pieces dribble out on the road? Did you strap down the Drivers door?

In my experience, no. Which is why I keep my blocks handy. Skates go under the tire, so you can’t remove them quickly if needed. Very rarely do I use skates unless it’s on new/high end vehicles.
