GMTK Game Jam 2021 Devlog

Hello ...My 13 year old son has participated in this jam with the name of pluto programmer. He alone made his game and that too without any professional coding classes. He was really inspired by your enthusiasm to participates in game jam. Thank you so much for that.

Just a wonderful project to work on. And I am so humbled I got to do this with a friend.

Great devlog. 48 hours are always so brutal for jams, I would love for GMTK to try out the 1 week format some day.

Should have put what monster you have to kill on the actual "order up" note, next to the food it makes that you need. Don't those freeze/cook/microwave symbols look like they are just begging to have a monster in the middle of them?

That's an impressive amount of content for a game jam! I followed the advice I heard in the last Yeah, I Make Games podcast and stopped working on features after the first couple hours and then only worked on polish and content. It made for a simpler game but much less stressful jam. Plus I think I have the honor of being the only one who added subtitles to their game jam game, haha.

This game is super fun to play, it makes me want a full version so badly. Great work!

Oh man I can relate so much to your comment about the pressure after winning that lead to stressing out. I was lucky enough to be featured in the first two GMTK Jams and afterward I put so much pressure on myself, working with bigger teams and it started to feel like a grind. It was still fun and the game were good but the experience was a bit tainted. Somehow this year I was much more relaxed, worked on a smaller idea with no particular pressure and I had a way better time. Take care of yourself!

I joined the jam but didn't manage to submit (first jam I failed to submit) 😪 the way you describe your work flow is identical to the way I work, it's so good to see others facing the same issues I run into. But a 24 hr day... that's dedicated. I couldn't stay up that long.

6 years back when I was in my High School, my Teacher told me that there will a Game Development program in our school. Course consisted of Scratch at begginer level. Construct at intermediate level. That's the time I learned What happens behind that game which I am Playing. I searched on You Tube About Construct and found you. That was the best decision of my life to subscribe you. Now when I have a part time job in graphic designing industry. I Thank You. Today My First Salary came which is not too much (650$) but enough for a University Student who is in his final year of Graphic Designing. Thanks to you. I hope this can give everyone an inspiration. I don't come from a rich family got into collage by getting a scholar ship. So HAVE NICE FUTURE.

Just checked out the results page for fun, looks like it did almost as well as the 2020 one. Not that it is too important, but it is nice to know that so many people appreciated how cool this project was!

I think a cool just little challenge is to make an arcade game with machines of Normal and upgraded versions of all of your game jam games so they are in one area for people to play.

Heh, I actually came up with a name for all of the foods for myself while playing. Meat, donuts, sushi, hotdogs, slime or jello, and wine. As for the stations, Heat up for the pots, freeze for rhe fridges, and zap for the microwaves.
