Gnanakatha Recipe I Sri Lankan Cookies I How to make Nanakatha
Ingredients
Butter - 1 Tablespoon
Icing Sugar - 1/4 Cup
Egg - 01
Vanilla - 1/2 Teaspoon
Flour - 1 Cup
Baking powder - 1 1/2 Teaspoons
Water
Sugar - 1/2 Cup
Method
Combine Butter, Icing Sugar, Vanilla, Flour, Baking powder and Egg in a bowl to make a hard dough. Divide into small equal balls. Using palm lightly flatten them to make disc shaped cookies. brush with water. Take each cookie disc(gnanakatha), place them on the sugar grains(1/2 cup) and gently press down so the sugar grains coat one side. Preheat oven at 170 C. Bake for 20 - 30 Minutes until golden brown.

Tips
You can add a bit of sugar together with icing sugar to make the dough
