“Death can have me when it earns me” is still a line I keep in my mind since I played that part. Raw ass line

the line that really got me was “you’re not the god you once were” “return my son or you’ll meet the god i once was”

The voice actor for Thor is literally imaculate. The voice I feel is the most perfect one for Thor.

"Loki will go. Atreus remains." That simultaneously broke me and made me whole at the same time.

I liked how Kratos was more open about his past, more willing to answer questions about his previous life.

Kratos kneeling & asking for broks blessing for the spear got me. It was such an unexpectedly wholesome moment I just instantly cried

One bit of dialogue that sticks in my head was when Kratos said to Freya "I do not regret saving your life, and never will. But the choice between life and death was yours to make. I should not have robbed you of that choice". That moment, followed by the small smile of acceptance from Freya, then the deep breath of relief of tension from Kratos after she walks away. It was masterfully directed and acted scene.

The way the writers came up with all the clever dialogues. The vocabulary used in those sentences, man. So good. The dialogues are just insanely good.

That scene where Kratos says he's sorry and Atreus tells him to be better made me almost shed massive tears, what a game. What an experience.

The growth is honestly incomparable. They didn’t revert back to a cold shouldered Kratos who just yells “Boy” all the time, he’s always there for his son and shows it on his sleeve this time around and it’s beautiful to see.

Spoilers When Brok was trying to get the blessing from the Lady of the forge and couldn't, but then Kratos said that it needed the blessing of a master blacksmith, I about cried at how sweet that was. This game brought me to tears multiple times and no other game I have ever played has done that. 100/100 for me

"Death can have me when it earns me" is the hardest line I've ever heard.

That ending of kratos being happy/relieved seeing that image of people worshiping him made me cry. That part itself deserves GOTY. His growth throughout his whole journey is amazing

Being able to 100% this game was probably the most rewarding experience largely due to it being so well made, and exploring post game opening up paths that weren’t previously available. It’s a comfort game along with its predecessor that Id happily play again start to finish

Favorite part was where Kratos told Atreus he was doing side quests to spend more time with him. Enjoying what could have been their last moments doing something good together with Mimir. Reminding themselves of simpler times.

I think Odins performance was my favorite of all but kratos. Odin seems like such a real character, you even almost find yourself thinking he’s not so bad sometimes even though you know he’s a scumbag. The way he acts so human and caring one second and then turns into a complete psychopath the next is incredible

God of War 2018 and Ragnarok are some of the only games that make me truly want to hear all the dialogue and really pay attention to it. It's like a little treat anytime the characters are just talking to each other while exploring.

Sindri was MVP. Seriously incredible VA performance. The future of this franchise is bright.

I don't know if other people noticed or cared as much as I did, but I loved all the little creatures they sprinkled around in every realm. They were so detailed for how small they were and I would basically play Where's Waldo in every new area looking for the cute little critters.

That part when Kratos, Atreus, and Freya held their hands together, with Kratos saying “You said it yourself, Bitch. We’re the God of War” to Odin before killing him with an energy blast really solidified this game for me as the best of 2022

My favourite quote was when Kratos and Atreus came across a huge skeleton and Atreus asked "what is that?", in which Kratos responded with "dead"

When Sindri destroyed the cannons near the end, turned around and said: "more or less what you expected?" with his red, teary eyes... Nearly cried as well there

The battle with Heimdall was the most badass boss fight. Seeing Kratos catch up to his moves was amazing

The fact that my girlfriend, who usually couldn't care less about the games i play , actively asked me to wait for her to play because she's genuinely interested in the story, to me just attest to how good the writing is. It's the first time she's asked me if she can try the game after I'm finished . That's how you know a game is good, when it pulls in people outside of gaming.

My favorite lines from this game is when Atreus said he wish to sail away because of the massive guilt he’s feeling . Then Kratos said “You can’t sail away from your problems…if you are to sail, do it toward somewhere.” It's funny that when Mimir asked if Kratos had ever written any poems, Kratos just smirked at the idea. Little does he realize he already speaks in poetic and succinct ways.

The sidequests make it a lot better, especially if you realize that they have voicelines for every quest for both atreus and freya.

The funniest part of the game is the squirrel ability you get with Loki. That gives you health stones. When he first said “I pulled these outa my ass enjoy! I died lmao

The music brought this game to another level as I expected. I nearly cried every single time the music got huge

The part where kratos says that, “Loki goes, but Atreus remains.” Was so emotional to me

Man I wish Charlie did a spoiler section. I would love to hear him talk about some of the best moments and emotional highs this game has.

The thing i love the most about this game is the ammount of side content after u beat the game. It feels like a literal dlc with the ammount of extra hidden secrets and epic encounters there are scattered aound the world. 10/10 for me and am definitely casting my vote for game of the year.

When kratos said “it’s kratos time” I literally couldn’t stop shaking.

The motion capture alone in this game is crazy, seeing the emotions on character's faces so clearly really adds to the immersion in the game. A masterpiece of a game.

The side quest point is so unbelievably right. The hafgufas come to mind especially and I love how a lot of the side quest leaned in on mimirs backstory

The fact that this got a 95% without him finishing the game just says alot about how good this masterpiece is

I love that you specifically shouted out Odin in the performances. Of course Christopher Judge and Sunny Suljic are perfect in their roles, but for me Richard Schiff's Odin just stole every scene he was in

I like how Kratos shows character development that most movies can’t even get. The way he opens up to his son and expresses his fears is incredible when you know how he acted in past GoW.

You're right about the writing being the best. I've played Red Dead 2, and all the big RPG's, nothing paints characters as lively as Ragnarok. You laugh, you cry, and you get impressed by just how the script commands your emotions. I can't wait for time to past so I can play it all over again.

“What gets bigger the more you take away from it?” The game literally ends with Mimir figuring it out. The riddle has added so much meaning and significance, and perfectly encapsulates how I felt at the very end. The game is a masterpiece for the ages.

I like how even 10 years after this video will be made people will still be able to hear the flu Charlie had that day in his voice lol

I'm such a sucker for family-bonding stories and this series does that so beautifully. Kratos realizing he has to be softer, not harder to make his son stronger is such a wonderful lesson for him to learn.

Game is a 10/10. Idgaf what anybody says. 10/10 masterpiece classic. Greatest game of the 21st century. 2022 was a better year because of this game.

The moment where Kratos said "its warring time" had me in tears.

I cried during the father-son moments with Kratos and Atreus during the last hour or so of the story. I’ve never actually watched or played a previous God of War title, but I know a lot of background knowledge. This game alone establishes so much connection to the cast of characters despite being a sequel, and technically the 5th installment in the series, it’s incredible.

I am not ashamed whatsoever to say that I shed some tears over the story. This game is a masterpiece and is up there and exceeds some of the legends I love this game in every sense of the word

The scene where Kratos is fighting Jesus and he says “it’s Kratosin time” really solidified this game as the game of the year

The way they did the side quests was perfect. It felt seamless from the main story and it gave so much character development and backstory about the world.

This game was an absolute roller coaster from beginning to end. When it came to a close I was just blown away of how everything was executed so flawlessly.

The way they were able to convey so much emotion through Kratos’ stoic face was incredible. You can tell when he’s fighting tears or happy, without sacrificing the hardened warrior look we’ve come to love. It’s a great game, but the attention to detail is what makes it legendary.

The fact that we got Elden Ring and GOW Ragnarok so close together is astonishing. Two phenomenal games that are actually fully finished on release and not being updated to add the "features" in over time. Makes me think of the good old days of gaming where you could expect a finished game on release, props to FromSoftware and Sony Santa Monica, actually props to most of the Sony exclusive developers for giving us good, fully finished games on release

God I love this game it has such detail in its characters I feel they were really and I actually almost cried at many scenes also playing as atreus was such a nice change from brute strength to speed also the armors and accessories with different effects and stats and the new spear has such a good feel probably my game of the year honestly

I think I cried at least 4 times in my playthrough. To me it was perfect

I've never cried during a game before, this game had me in tears at least 3 times. It goes to show that you don't need to rush games.

The fights with thor in this game went so hard. Thor was probably one of my favorite characters in this game. Music was somehow better in this game than the last. When you go to the Dwarven realm with Brok, and get the new spear, the music hit just as hard as a track from doom eternal. Plus, Kratos bring more human and honestly being kind of friendly and addressing other characters by their names was such a nice touch to the game. Absolute masterpiece.

I finished it yesterday and it was by far the best game I've played this year. The story, the world, the gameplay, the art, everything put a smile on my face. And the final 2 hours were jaw dropping to me. This game and the studio deserve all the praise they're getting.

2018 and ragnarok are the games I looked forward to and they delivered masterpieces. The twist in the story that really gets you in two places he’s one of my favorite characters.

My favorite quote: "Atreus, you've become much a better fighter" "Maybe better than you some day?" "If you are not, then I have failed"

I was absolutely blown away with this game just like you said it exceeded my expectations. And im also super impressed with how long the main story is I'm someone who likes to bust out the main story and then do all the side quest after 100/10 my favorite game of all time

Bear Mceary did something really special with the soundtrack. When you compare such a beautiful score with writing of this game's caliber it just elevates scenes to the next level. This game will go on to win score of the year, you heard it here first.

I love this game. Everything about it: the score, the combat, the story, the acting, pretty much perfect. You know it's a really good game when the 50 hours it took me to get the platinum felt like nothing. There really weren't many tedious work and side quests post story, and the extra main bosses (like Gna and the berserkers) were super fun to learn and master.

I finished this game at exactly the same time as you last night. Truly an unforgettable experience and a game I am glad to have played. Every single objective has me actively excited to see where the story would go and they delivered on their story beats in a magnificent way.

I got this game on Friday and couldn't stop playing it all weekend and finished the main story today (Monday) I am sad that it's over, but happy they I can now watch reviews to hear other people's experience. I loved it.

God of War Ragnarok absolutely deserved all the hype it was getting pre release

This isn't just a game at this point, It's historical art

God of War is a God Tier video game considering how much could have gone wrong with it being made during the pandemic.

Just incredible. This may be my favourite franchise in gaming now and the one I look forward to most for the next iteration. They really developed Kratos so much.

There is no understating how amazing Sindri is through the whole game.

There are numerous moments in this game where there’s just brilliant writing, some made me swell up some big man tears, even the subtlest things like moments with Atreus and kratos that show the two have truly grown and are still growing from their relationship in the previous game is done so so perfectly, and god damnit that end scene (I will not spoil) made me tear up with joy

Christopher Judge's performance is spectacular in this game. He legit made me cry so many times in the last few chapters. Fantastic acting and writing.

This is a game worth showing to our grandchildren one day. My major issue is that it feels like they cut a few hours from the end of the story. I completely support that there wasn't enough story to make it work out for three games as originally planned, but I still would've loved more buildup for Ragnarok and its major events. What's insane is the story and game are still insanely long even after the condensed feel of the final act. Replay value of this game also seems like it's worth giving a few completionist runs for before putting down. I hope they can at least give us some type of expansion pack or new story to fill in the gaps before they move onto whatever they're *clearly* setting up for Atreus.

Took me 44 hours to beat the game because I did almost all of side quests and found around 80% of the collectables from just exploring and enjoying the worlds, I took my time with this game and enjoyed every minute, I played on Give me no mercy and it felt perfect, every side quest feels like it could be part of the main story, it never felt like a chore to do any of the side quests with how well the stories are told and the awesome fights that can be found within. 95% is a well deserved score and I hope all of you get to play this game soon :)

The voice acting and character development for all of them especially Odins Aesir clique (thor, heimdal etc..) was phenomenal

I just finished the game, I’ve never played a game that made me feel so many different emotions. This game is a masterpiece.

So, this series means a lot to me. I remember back in 2005 my dad taking me to circuit city (don’t judge lol) to play the demo on the TVs in the electronics section… 2 weeks later he bought me my very first PS2 with God of War to go with it. A small memory but I remember me and my dad bonding over that and I’ve never forgotten it. Needless to say, the story in these last two games regarding father/son life and issues has been such a full circle for me with growing up with kratos and seeing him and his son go through so much really does hit the feels. Bravo, Santa Monica

Definitely one of the best games I've played in a long time. I've been a fan of the GOW series ever since i was 13, now 21 & experiencing Ragnarok from beginning to end was amazing

speaking of dialogue, while "death can have me when it earns me" was a favorite of mine, freya's "send odin my regards" was so powerfully delivered

I like how they added many of the previous games runic attacks into this games combat skill tree and then allow you to further augment those attacks with more stun, damage, element etc

It really has the perfect balance of character personalities such as characters that make you feel goosebumps and characters that make you laugh

What made the writing so compelling for me was the quality that extended to the side quests. Every side quest felt like it had meaningful character progression and gave you huge insight to these characters that you've spent 50+ hours with between the two games. A narrative masterpiece front to back.

Odin was a great actor in the TV series "West Wing" and I was very happy to see him in this game. Just from that alone, I imagined the rest of the actors would perform well and the story would be done very well. This was the first God of War for me and it left a great impression on me, so much so that I plan on going back through the series chronologically asap. Kudos to the team involved, you can see the passion, hard work and time dedicated to this project.

what wins me over with this game from the old one is that the enemy doesn't fell copy pasted recolor of themselves like the old one did

To be vague, there is a part in the game where you realized everything made sense after this event happen. Such a good game to be played and I enjoyed watching Charlie experience that event too

The sidequests were fantastic, especially the one that was a tribute to a Santa Monica developer who passed away.

Whats ironic is the original God of War was also critiqued for lack of boss battles. And afterwards every single game had an insane number of bosses.

One thing I didn't like was Freya being so open to the idea of partnering with Kratos. She was absolutely livid with him. Desperate for his death. And then became best pals.

The only 2 issues I had with this game was sometimes the difficulty spikes at random places for seemingly no reason, and the NPC's screaming out the solution to a puzzle after 10 seconds. But other than those the game is amazing in almost every way. These 2 games really are what many single player games should look to for inspiration going forward.

VA and Character development was on some next level man; and the story man, the STORY!

Growing up on god of wars and having every person I ask “do you know GOW” always saying no 100% of the time killed me as a kid. Now everyone loves it and I’m so happy :)
