I recently found my love for trophy/ achievement hunting once again after being out of the game for close to a decade. So I decided to platinum 30 games in 30 days. An idea that definitely took a toll on me mentally but after it was all said and done I was ready to pursue more and God of War: Ragnarok looked to be the perfect game to go after next. I got the platnium after 44 hours on the morning of the 5th day after release, I loved this game a ton and doing all the side stuff just meant I got to spend more time with these characters and hear awesome conversations, made the story hit harder

This year the side quest actually tied into the lore. Most of them didn’t feel meaningless like in the first game

Though they felt useless in the first one they were truly challenging where as this one I feel unstoppable lol but I love that the side missions that felt useless in the first actually tied into the story say like finding the story boards tht you eventually take tyr too in the new one that I wouldn’t have even known what they were talking about had I not done those side missions or the Valkyrie’s recalling our battles etc etc

This was definitely a nice platinum experience. Able to do it all on whatever difficulty you want to was a nice touch. Hoping they add NG+ trophies if they update the game.

After 100% I was pretty bummed there were no extra rewards for Gmgow. Tyrs and the spartan shield in the first one were awesome. This game should have the fur transmog from the beginning of the game as the reward. Hoping for something good in ng+.

I just finished gna on my give me god of war plat playthrough and the time commitment to the bosses is insane you get 1-2 shot nearly everytime. It took me 89 hours to get full play and it was a mechanically thrilling combat experience I love difficulty in games and gow had a lot of it

Getting two shot and having to spam the same moves over and over for 6 minutes straight isn't really fun difficult. It's just fuck you difficult. It's not hard because you aren't learning. It's hard because you aren't playing perfectly

Also platinumed this, although it took me 60 hours, and I had the same feelings as you, a brilliant game and 100% it was just a blast. Great video and I look forward to the full review, here's to hoping you tackle the Valkyries in the 2018 game, seriously my absolute favorites still.

I only played and got the platinum in this game recently, and it meant a lot to me. My brother recently passed away, and a lot of what this game deals with hit me a lot in a good way. "To mourn greatly, means to have loved deeply." I was bawling 😅

This game is a love letter to the GoW franchise. If they stopped here, I would be happy. 2018 and Ragnarök have been some of my most player games and also have garnered some of my fondest memories in gaming. I beat the game on the hardest difficulty in just shy of 60 hours, and am starting a new game of it to see the story once more. This game and franchise, from watching my dad play 1-Ascension, to me playing 2018 and Ragnarök on my own, have been wonderful. I love this franchise and the love each study puts into it.

I wouldn’t be happy I played every single one even ps2. The ending was just so boring. Weird how everything can be basically perfect and then the ending just ruin the experience :/ not a lot of badass moments these games have been so known and loved for in my opinion.

Within the first 20 minutes in the fight against Thor he says something along the lines of “show me who you REALLY are.” The narrative is Kratos is trying to be better for his son so he doesn’t see the god butcher he is. He fights because he must protect what is sacred to him. The new saga isn’t about revenge like it used to be. Sorry you didn’t enjoy it but I loved the fuck out of the game.

14:30 You actually can just do a warmup for the challenges then wait a second and press the sword again to leave the warmup and still get credit for doing that challenge in the combination for the bigger challenges.

Im currently on 34h on the give me god of war difficulty. I've already seen the whole story but have just gotten fenrir. It's insane how much fun I've had on the game even though i have at least 500 deaths, at least every single death was worth it for the reward.

I think it’d be pretty cool if you added platinum review segments after your initial reviews of games as an epilogue but I understand it’s probably better for you to release two shorter videos than one massive one. I thought the platinum in this was pretty good, I think if we are talking about purely fun platinums the collecting of artefacts could’ve been left out and I also agree about the musphelheim trials, wasted a lot of time simply because I couldn’t remember which sequences I’d already done. I also wish there was some kind of reward for 100% completion. Still feels odd when most games don’t acknowledge that. Still, pretty good platinum. I honestly think last of us 2 had a pretty good system where the main game platinum is purely good fun and then they add additional non required trophies later on for hard difficulties and challenge runs. Really hope they add new game plus soon as I’m kinda itching to play the story again, just hoping they add new armours and things like the first game. In summary, video was sick innit

I'll definitely talk about my experience with going for the platinum in my complete review because I experienced so much optional content that way but I'll make a note of that for the future! I made sure to get everything done before attending Brok's funeral. It just felt right to have that as the true ending of my journey and to say one last goodbye to him and even sindri too. Plus having another set of credits and sad music (after Brok's funeral) just made emotional for them all, all over again. Great game.

I kind of wish they had forced that as a last thing. I did it pretty early, which made finishing up feel inconclusive. Jotunheim seemed like a fitting place to go last, but there's not really anything to do there.

I never platinum anything, but I platinumed God of War Ragnarok. I think what makes going Platinum in this game so rewarding is that…you get rewarded. I’m not hunting Ravens because I can, I’m hunting them because I can get some sweet gear, unlock cool story, and get invested in saving the souls of Ravens. I’m hunting all the Dragons in the crater because it subtly changes the environment. I’m slogging through Musphilheim challenges for amazing gear and upgrades. It’s not like Assassin’s Creed where I collect flags and animus fragments so that if I want to, I can read more lore that doesn’t matter to the game, or eventually I can get a new weapon that’s not noticeably better or cooler than the one I get just by progressing through the story. I kicked my ass getting güd enough to beat the Berserker King because it mattered to Mimir and I unlock amazing gear by doing so. More games need to learn from God of War’s example and give us substantive collectables, not just random glowing boxes to chase.

There are MANY THINGS the GOW games do amazingly. If you've played through all of the GOW games, you know that the beginning of said games has ALWAYS BEEN EPIC!! Yea, the bear fight had me remember how much of the controller configuration, I forgot 😄

The only two trophies I never earned in GoW 2018 were the ones for finding every artifact and destroying all of Odin's ravens. I want to go back and wrap up that game's plat but after plat'ing Ragnarok idk how I could ever get used to playing 2018 again.

You should all the artifacts is worth to find because they are displayed on brok’s shop and the ravens are a bit annoying especially finding them in the mountain because I wish there was an extra gateway there in the middle but it is worth it because Odin was watching Kratos and Atreus for the entire game. Don't be a tool lol, I went back after plat-ing ragnarok to 2018 to finish the valks on my new game + run and some of the valks which I thought were easy were actually really hard on ng+. I spent like almost an hour on one alone before I beat them. It's definitely doable though, you just have to get used to the small adjustments. And I mean small lmao

I had more issue with the berserker king rather than gna. Gna is much easier if you use the bersereker set and relic. Use your runics to keep her stunned while abusing the damage bonus from souless warrior and the relic. Also the fact that doing anything in the battle has a chance to restore cooldown on the relic also helped alot.

When I did this Platinum I made the mistake of ignoring side quests and focusing on the main story so the grind to get the platinum was so hard to do, and I stopped playing for MONTHS before I bit the bullet and finished it

14:55 You can just start a training session at the stones you want to activate with triangle and immediatly cancel it with circle. No need to do one of the first nine challenges twice.

The Platinum took me about 39 hours, but I followed PowerPyx’s guide and whenever I went back to a location for the story I would get the collectibles I couldn’t before. Honestly the only hard part was the double berserker fight, the triple one was a cake walk, and the berserker king and gna were first try kills. Was overpowered by the end.

Although I think it would've been cool if like the king hrolfr and gna trophy required you fight them on at least balanced lol. I remember for gow4 I got sigrun almost dead but I got frustrated because of how close I kept getting so I just put it on story mode and beat her that way. I could've done it on no mercy like I was trying, I just didn't want to keep committing the time. I got plat in ragnarok the whole time on no mercy though this time so I proved to myself I really could.

It took me 2 weeks to plat all the Greek GoW games. I did a platinum marathon before Ragnarok as prior to this I only platted 2018. Except GoW1 they’re all 1 playthrough plats as long as you pick hard difficulty. They honestly weren’t that hard the hardest part is doing the Arena challenges.

I platted this but I would say the King was way harder than the Valkyrie fight for me. I did the gantlets as soon as I unlocked them which made it not as bad because it felt like I was getting way way more out of doing them

You're definitely not alone in that view, just for me personally I tried to tackle Gna before I was ready for a while and the King I was more than prepared for

I just got the platinum for this game and it is the first platinum I’ve ever gotten it took me a while though and give me balance it’s still took here 88 hours I know that’s higher than normal but I love to take my time with these games I also spent a lot of time in the crucible because I love this game is combat so much

Tbh Berserker king was much harder for me than Gna which was basically Sigrid fight all over again with Bifrost as a new consept.

Yeah they were a grind, I just picked the quickest challenges to progress so it only took me a couple of hours but definitely understand why you'd stop. Unnecessarily tedious

...I thought Gna was ONLY possible to fight after finishing all muspelheim trials....Well I would probably skip them on GMGOW. But i think they were worth it. I enjoyed the final 6 challenges. They were needed to have the "arena challenges". But I wish they didnt pointlessly force us to do the same mini challenges over and over again. So pointless and tedius.i also wished there was a proper Niflheim level in the main story. Not the dinky atreus section. Something similar to gow 2018 niflheim would also work. Having a stupid "practice arena" was so dumb. A waste of an interesting realm. Im glad to have played it. It is my 2nd favourote game of the year right behind elden ring. Such a beast of an experience :D easy 9.5 out of 10 from me. Elden ring is 9.6 for me. Both of them are top tier!!

Been playing on the hardest default difficulty and trying to get the platinum on the first play through. Currently at 80 hours but almost done. Just have a few collectibles left and Gna. Hopefully she isn't as bad as the Sister of Illska fight. FUCK THAT FIGHT!!!!

the thing you said hunting trophies feels gamey is why people dont like checklist in games, like ubisoft did in their games, they sometimes (or most of the time) are collectibles and chores having fun with it is very subjective and its alright tho i also get why people dont like it

They're not apart of the main story but they cause the storms in Alfheim so it's well worth freeing them if you want to explore freely

I wish I could play with subtitles mate but the video looks cleaner without and it also distracts from the closed captions since I subtitle the videos! Great platinum though, would love to go back and get the whole series done

Got my platinum at 83 hours on gmgow and now that I think of it, I do not remember a single quest or a quest that didn't gave me at least some extra lore or story. Also the game really made me explore every nook and cranny and I can't belive that I even liked the muspelheim challenges. I remember how much I liked hfw, but, I spent so much time doing some stupid quests which gave me nothing and the overall game literally gave me nothing special, only some junk to sell at the trader. Gow and stray are for sure goty games for me. All about experience without bloat or fat.

If you platinum any game nowadays is something to be considered a worthy achievement. I've never platinum any game and least not since my younger day's way back in the first NES day's. But back then there were no awards for beating a game you just got an ending cut scenes.
