God's Not Dead 3: A Light in Darkness - The Cinema Snob 

wait a minute. This movie has actual antagonists who are shown to be complex and has legitimate reasons on why they are atheists and in a way sympathetic with actual conservations with both sides have a valid points on religions. Is this even a pureflix movie?

"Cash grab?" "Doesn't promote a Christian message anymore?" Wow! That demographic showed a new level of hypocrisy and delusion. What movies were they watching when they saw the first two?!

“Out of all three movies, this is the only one that bombed.” Because people don’t want to have a discussion. They just want the sense of validation that comes with having their pre-existing opinions confirmed. People went to the first two GND movies because they wanted to have their beliefs and prejudices parroted back to them. But when this one dared to actually CHALLENGE the Christian faith just a little bit, people got offended. To the PureFlix audience, a “Christian message” means saying that only conservative Christians are good people, and everyone else is just wrong.

I'm impressed. With the third movie, the God's Not Dead trilogy was able to pull off a reverse Godfather.

I would watch a sitcom about a devout good guy Christian preacher and his snarky sarcastic atheist lawyer best friend. It wouldn't even have to be a sitcom. It could be a show where they solve mysteries.

Man that scene with black preacher Greg Williams is something else. It's kind of cathartic to see a series so hateful and one sided slap itself upside the head and tell itself to "shut the hell up already, you're making us look bad"

"Maybe you'd understand if you were the one being attacked." "I'm a black preacher in the deep south, I could build you a church with all the brick that have been thrown though my windows." Oh damn the movie suddenly got real for a moment. This writer should be doing better movies with that kind of biting insight in a movie like this.

It's ironic that the only good God's Not Dead bombed. I liked that they humanized the characters and had plots that made sense.

When you said that the audience for these movies declared that this movie wasn't spreading a Christian message anymore I literally said "WHAT?" out loud. This is the only one, from what I can tell, that actually does spread a Christian message. If all the other God's Not Dead movies were like this one I probably wouldn't have to hit my head against hard objects.

The fact that this movie is deemed "the cash grab" and "it doesnt preach a christian message" says a helova lot about the audience of these movies. It shows that the audience actually completely believed what those movies were saying.

The fact that this movie performed worse than the first 2 really speaks volumes about the state of Christianity in America

I'm a devout Christian, but these movies aren't necessary. I don't need a film company to justify my faith and I don't need propaganda to feel safe. I will give GND3 credit in that it at least had a likeable atheist that wasn't some mustache twirling bad guy. This guy just wanted to connect with his brother despite they're different beliefs. That actually happens. No persecution complex, no atheists hit by cars or trying to take Christianity from Sabrina the Teenage Christian. Just 2 brothers with different beliefs reconnecting. Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing more of them together. It would benefit Christians and atheists both to see each others sides of things and still come to loving and respecting each other. Movies like GND don't want that. They want us to fight and bicker. I have no desire to convert others and most atheists want us to be allowed to worship in peace. We all want the freedom to be who we are. I don't need Josh Whedon and the Pure Flix cinematic universe to be a good Christian. Anyone who paints all beliefs may they be Muslims or atheists as evil just want to build walls to divide and cause fear and honestly, I'm not interested. I'm not interested in hating or fearing those that believe differently. I love my Muslim, Pagan and atheist friends and they love me and that's good enough.

17:54 - I can't believe I'm saying this, but that was an incredibly relatable joke. Seriously, I'm pretty sure everyone with relatives more religious than them has accidentally started eating before grace, then awkwardly glanced around and tried to be inconspicuous, at least a couple of times.

That’s really pitiful that the most humanizing of these movies did poorly. Then again I personally know people who love the first two who probably despise the idea of humanizing non far right Christians. They want to see mean atheists get run over by cars.

John Corbett is just so naturally likable. He deserves better.

So this movie simultaneously managed to be a good movie, preach an actual Christian message, and kill the God's Not Dead franchise? I guess that miracles really do happen

God’s not dead 4: oh hell no!

Wait, so a pissed kid throws a brick through a window, which accidentally knocks out the world's flimsiest gas pipe which then causes an accidental explosion. This has God's will written all over it, Onyango just got an express call to the boss, nothing else.

I love John Corbett, his character in Northern Exposure was one of the best on television. "One man's savior is another man's pair of lead boots " - Chris Stevens

Take solace that this trilogy is one of the few exceptions to the rule as its third installment is good/even better than the previous installments

Y’know what would’ve been really, REALLY interesting? If we follow the main pastor dude, and the kid who started the fire. The kid believes he can’t be forgiven and falls into a deeper and darker hole, then the pastor dude finds him and befriends him. The two spend time and talk about life, turns out the kid has a decent family, he only started the fire because a.) It was a dare or b.) his dad died and he blames God for not saving him. The two grow closer and they begin to share their doubts and fears about life, in the end, they decide that this happened for a reason, they aren’t sure why, but the pastor dude leaves to travel the country, helping those in need much like the kid, and the kid begins talking with his friends and family. Bringing a ‘Light’ into the darkness. Sure, it’s not perfect, but it’s LEAGUES BETTER THAN THESE FILMS!

As much as I love the tone of the Cinema Snob character, I believe Brad’s frustration towards the end of the video to be genuine. It has it’s silly moments but it’s far and away better than what they were cranking out before. As a Christian I feel like it’s an insult to my intelligence to paint a person with a different belief system than me in to a villain. The way that this film handled the college kid and the brother was the best part. The lawyer was very likable and I admit I shed some tears when the pastor forgave the kid and gave him the Bible. Not a great movie but a significant improvement over the first 2. The only one worth checking out imo.

To be honest, I was expecting this to be a lot worst. But did I just see a "God's Not Dead" movie, the third in this series, that didn't totally demonize atheists, have a story that was more well written, and try to promote Christianity in a more positive light? Pure Flix...what are you now? Welcome back Brad, great episode.

Well damn, this review got my hopes up for this movie series going into better direction and maybe taking the rest of pureflix movies to the same path but of course it bombed at the box office.

This God's Not Dead 3 represents a major shift in Pureflix movies, this is when they started to suck out all the entertainment value that internet reviewers can get out of them. It's like David A.R White realized how much of a laughing stock they've become online and hired some specialists to clean up. It's truly an end of en era.

Honestly if they dropped the whole persecution plot and focused on the burning of the church and the relationship between the two brothers this would have been a good movie. That's more then I can say for the first two movies.

David A.R. White is so damn likable that he absolutely carried the first two garbage movies on his back, and he really stretches his acting ability well here. Really well. It's great to see what he can do with material from a good writer, that's endearing to his base, but challenging to it as well. So of course, the movie bombed. Of course. C-cash grab?! I-it's the ONLY ONE that's NOT a cash grab!

So, who's ready for God's Next Dead 4: In Space Nobody Can Hear You Pray?

Brad, how do you do that? Building a fanbase by tearing movies apart and yet... you... allow yourself to say it when you like something in a movie that would be so easy to blindly mock? And without breaking Snob's character? You even risk a bit annoyance from people who only go to the RU-vid for naggings. I'm not used to this much legitimacy from my RU-vid reviewers. Kudos.

The message of the movie is basically: liberulz have become so powerful that they started recruiting people who aren't mustache twirling sociopaths and they managed to make 'Murica incompatible with our beliefs. Woe is us.

I went into this film SO expecting to hate it. But I completely agree, I was legit shocked at how much of a course-correct this was. God's Not Dead: A Light In Darkness, dare I say it, I actually feel is UNDERRATED.

God's Not Dead: Friedrich Nietzsche Got Fingered

I’ve been waiting forever for this!

John Corbett is the best thing to happen in the history of these religious movies and all of cinema PERIOD. He was the only one that got me through this film. lol

I am both a devout Christian and worked at a Christian bookstore for many years I can say that I have seen more Christian movies than most (though not more than Brad, it seems! He's much more devoted to punishing himself with terrible movies than I am). I can confirm that basically 99.9% of all Christian movies are absolutely dreadful. Really, F-, 0/10, 'Birdemic 2' dreadful. I would always cringe with embarrassment whenever the next big movie came out that we were promoting (like God's Not Dead, for example), and we had to play the trailers, put up posters in store etc. I also felt sad for all the people buying them and saying how wonderful they were. The problem I had with them (on top of the usual terrible acting, awful script, bad direction, non-existent budget etc) is they're just so fake. The non-Christian bad guy character (coz you know, that's totally how Christians are supposed to view non-Christians) is always a caricature who either converts at the end or suffers some shame or humiliation as the Christian character emerges victorious. The main character's problems always magically resolve through prayer (their marriage gets better, their rebellious children return, their cancer goes away, or whatever). Life just doesn't work like that (and you'll never reach people with the message of Christianity if you're constantly misrepresenting them in film! Incidentally, the best/only good religious-themed movie I've seen is 'Amazing Grace', about the story of William Wilberforce, the member of parliament who campaigned for decades to outlaw slavery in the British Empire. But then, the movie itself was not intended to be religious, it's just that Wilberforce himself was devoutly religious so it inevitably comes through in the movie, so it's not quite the same category as something like God's Not Dead.

So... When is that David A. R. White action movie's review coming?

The movie about repentance, forgiveness, and reconciliation is the one that doesn't promote a Christian message? I think we are confusing "Christianity" for "American Christendom."

This is the only GND movie available on Netflix, so I assume Netflix didn't want to house the other two for its hateful messages against atheism. Thanks Brad! By the way, I dislike Josh for his stupidity because he gave up romance for his belief in God. Wait, why hasn't Josh been punished?! Your reviews of the GND movies gave me inspiration to write my own inspirational love stories.
