Thank you so much. Every time I want to use AD200 pro, then I come to learn again from you that is easy and fast. Learning from you is much better than reading Godox instruction was small with tiny words and instructions are so complicated.
Incredible the detail you have gone into to describe the utilisation of the AD200. I sitting with my AD200 following your explanation. Thank you for your help.
man, you cannot imagine how much time I've lost looking for a video that explained why my AD200 pro kept beeping out of nowhere and why it wouldn't auto dump the charge when I lowered the power! I'm very happy to know it's because of the color stability mode. Thank you so much for providing an actual in depth review of this flash that mentions important and more features and specificities and other people don't cover in their reviews!
Super awesome video. I wish more companies would run through all their features of a product and explain the scenario where you would use said setting like this guy did. Also liked how he said “99% of people won’t need it”
Thank you SIR!!! Extremely thorough review and absolutely well explained!!! I just dove into the Godox ecosystem as a semi pro hobbyist and I'm appreciative of the work Strobepro and Godox in elevating the technology in the off cam flash photo space!!!!
The PC terminal is an important backup. I use the radio transceiver of course but things happen. So having a PC cable ready just in case is super important. I hope Godox keeps building them this way in their future strobes.
Thank you for this video. Got my ad200PRO in the house yesterday and this video is very good and easy to follow. Gave me a good idea how it works and how to use it. Thank you again.
good video, but what you were talking about with the 'multi' mode, is simmilar to Nikon's repeating mode, it is used for strobascopic flash, ie: more than one flash per shutter exposure, say flurecent lights, to maintain WB in the shot, without interference from other lights, or to stop the motion of a machine ( lathe spinning metal, train wheels, ferris wheel, etc). much better to describe it this way, more clear understanding, as the traditional definition of "multi" is in multi-exposure mode, in film cameras to shoot two or more shots on the same frame of film, this is the first thing to mind when the word multi is used!!
That's a great educational video! Well presented and explained! Absolutely the must when most new manufacturers do not provide proper documentation to the products! Recommended! P.S. I bought two AD200 Pro units a few months before the video from @Strobepro Studio Lighting.
Jesse, Great tutorial, Very Helpful. I often have someone hand hold this flash. Is there a way to lock the buttons so they don't accidently change anything during a shoot.
My flash is sometimes blinking the stand by button continuously and beeping. There is no troubleshooting in the manual. It stops when I press the button but can start again after a while. Do you know what this is?
I have a question, I’m a newbie in photography and I bought the ad200pro. Is there like a limit how many flashes you can take ? And if so, do I have to buy like another bulb?
I am thinking of purchasing the AD 200 Pro. Can I mount it on a tripod by the mounting bush (where the supplied mount fits in). I have a spare tripod lying around and I am thinking of making use of it for mounting the AD 200 Pro instead of going in for a light stand. Please advise.

Thank you for this video. Very informative. Suggestion: when there's no flash head on it, it would be more informative to give a descriptive message like "No flash head" instead of what's currently shown.
Hello. Did your flash work quietly? Every 5 seconds I have such a micro-click inside the case on ad200pro. Barely audible. I found a similar problem on RU-vid, where the guy was told by the godox representative that this is how capacitors are refilled in some models and that this is completely normal. For the author of the video with the problem, the flash has been working for 3 years now and nothing. How would it be okay if so, but the sale may be difficult.
I can’t figure out how to make this a slave to a 3rd party radio transmitter using the 3.5mm jack? What settings will make this a slave to 3rd party receivers? Thank u
Just FYI: You talk about at the 9 minute mark about checking your firmware just to make sure you have the latest version, but nothing in this video, nor at the Godox website that I could find, nor anything in the "manual" tells you how to find the current version (very frustrating). I had to do a deep dive into the net and some forums to find the answer. For those reading this who would like to know: Step 1. TURN THE FLASH UNIT OFF! (yes, OFF). 2. Hold the MODE button down. 3. WHILE holding the MODE BUTTON DOWN, TURN the AD200 PRO on. The CURRENT FIRMWARE VERSION should appear near the center of the screen. I have to say, I don't get it - hidden both in the literature, and hidden from expected ways of viewing it on the device, the reasons for this are just baffling. A few other words of caution: My latest purchase came with V1.5 (also listed on the Godox site as the most current). If you have to update, as of the date on this comment, you now must use the G3 UPDATE LAUNCHER (check at the time you are updating). Also make sure your version of G3 is for your OS (i.e. Mac/Windows). Lastly, check the Godox website for what the update contains (and if you really need it). If not, and your flash works fine, you might think to bypass any potential subsequent problems or bugs with the new firmware version, and just keep using what you have until a firmware update speaks to your needs.
Hello, Jesse! Thank you for this interesting video manual... I just would like to know what function activates when long pressing the set button in M mode. The flash screen displays a 330 number that can be changed with the GR/Ch button, and another number that can be changed from 0010 to more than 0100 by turning the dial. Do you know what is that for?. It doesn't change even after resetting the unit. Thank you!
Same trouble. Seem to be a "very" manual set for power, becouse if it set on 1 the flash emit a very loooow lamp. If I set on 44 is equally to 1/256. If I set on 135 it's equally to 1/1. But you can go over 135 value... So... I don't want to try because I think is a good way for burn all... But someone more crazy than me can try 😂 (sorry for bad English)
Thanks so much for the Vid, very appreciated. Got a question for ya: I’m using a 200ADPro & XproC. I’m often off camera, remotely hand holding 200ADPro & remote triggering the camera -using a remote-, however I’ve found the XproC will override any setting I have on the 200ADPro. Is there anyway to stop this so the Xpro will simply trigger the flash & not override it’s settings? (Currently the only workaround I’ve found is to put the Xpro in APP mode (and not use the app) - but this seems a bit backwards? Is there a better or proper way to do this?) Thanks heaps.
Hi Soundwave, Godox is the manufacturer. We are a Canadian distributor that provides support for the product in North America. If you buy from us, you'll get our 2-year in-house warranty.
Thanks When I trigger the flash using X2T trigger the Flash works but the light stays on, Any setting to turn this continuous light off (post triggering flash)
You will have to disable the modelling light on your controller. If you turn the modelling light off on the flash, you'll find that the controller's setting will override it. Hope that helps!
What no one seems to cover is how to put one flash on one group and another flash in another and have separate lighting controls for them both from the trigger. I might want one ad200 at 1/124 and another at 1/32 depending on modifier and distance from the subject. How do you set them separately like that?
Just bought 2 ! Ordered my godox and Xpro C trigger and the screen was oddly the screen to the trigger was just blue with nothing on it so kinda disappointing beginning
Hi Cody, Did you purchase these from us (Strobepro) or another retailer? If it was us, send an email to hello@strobepro.com and we'll get it sorted right away for you.
Hi Harry, Is there an ID set on either the light of the controller? The ID function can be found in the menus and it is a common troubleshooting point when a light and controller can't sync up. Just make sure the ID matches or is turned off of both devices. If that wasn't it, feel free to reach out to us at hello@strobepro.com and we'll try to see what else might be going on there.
Hi Siddheswari, We're not familiar with the Yongnuo product. From my limited search on the subject, it appears to be compatible with the YN560-TX II, RF603 and RF605 only. Be careful with the YN200. Reviews seem to suggest that it has some reliability issues. You know the old adage: buy cheap, buy twice. The Godox AD200 Pro is still at a relatively good price point, but it has been well tested in the field at this point.
Hi Narjes, The LED strip within the fresnel head is honestly not the best as a modelling light. With any kind of modifier in the way, you're not likely to see it. The AD300 Pro and up have much more usable modelling lights.
As you're a lighting expert think about improving the lighting on your product as you do your demos. Black product in front of a black T-shirt makes it hard to see the details!
The color of the fresnel head is such a different color temperature compared to to the barebulb and round heads. Unacceptable in my opinion for not color matching all the AD200/pro heads.
Hi Daniel, There are some little LED strips in the fresnel head that are meant to act as a modelling lamp, but I think you'd be disappointed with them! The AD200 Pro was really designed to be a flash only.
Hi Matthew, Rear curtain sync is entirely camera dependent, with exception to Canon where it can be set either through the internal menu or via the sync button on your controller. The AD200 heads do not zoom (the fresnel head is a fixed 35mm).
Hi Tim, The AD200 Pro does not have adjustable brightness unfortunately. Best to set your group before you go into bright sunlight and then you can just focus on using the controller.
I am using The AD 200 Pro's in the B-2? twin flash bracket with the Flashpoint R2 Pro II controller and cannot figure out how to control the modeling lights from the controller. Any ideas?
Hi Jody, The barndoors are tricky to remove, but at least you don't have to worry about them falling off. Try to peel one side of the barndoors off the head rather than pulling directly outward. Adding a bit of a twisting motion also seems to help. As for the head, with the release switch engaged, it is removed perpendicular to the body (see 6:02)
Hi Carlos, On the X1T, you'll have to enable the multi mode from the custom functions menu. Long-press the channel button to access the menu, and find the function with three lightning bolts (it was function 04 on my X1T-N). Hit Gr to change this function, move the scroll wheel, and hit Gr again once it is set to "On". Now your groups will work a little differently. The mode button will just turn the group on or off. Your multi settings need to be controlled from the back of the strobe. You should be able to set your strobe to 1/256 and 10 Hz, assuming it's an AD200 Pro and not the original AD200 (which had a minimum power of 1/128).
now try the proper trigger with a canon R6 and try using HSS Mode what happens ? no matter what you set the ad200 to it fires at 1/1 power Godox refuses to address and or fix this issue for us I had 2 ad200 PRO set up, one at 1/1 power the other at 1/64 power as soon as I went into shutter speed of say 1/4000 or 1/8000 both flashes fired full power
Hi Dave, Is your controller, AD200 Pro units, and your R6 each running the latest firmware? We were aware of issues on the R5 and R6 with earlier firmware builds.
@@Strobepro R6 yes latest firmware the lights and transmitter? Nope can not update firmware on windows 10 wont install the drivers properly even after disabling the option 7 in windows 10 reboot
Hi Dave, If you've disabled driver signature enforcement, that was the typical workaround for the issue you're describing. However, we're receiving some reports of Godox's software not functioning on later builds of Windows 10 and 11. We hope we'll know more about the issue soon, and that Godox will have a fix for us. In the meantime, perhaps you know of an old computer somewhere that wouldn't have had an opportunity to run a Windows update in the past few months. If you are in Canada, you could send your flashes and controller to us, and we can update the firmware for you as a free service. If you are outside of Canada, we still might be able to help you, but there would be some customs paperwork involved. Please feel free to get in touch with us at hello@strobepro.com if you are interested.
@@Strobepro Figure this out? the trigger has ver 2.0 firmware nobody even has later then 1.8 for download? but it seems to be a known issue canon ignores and nobody has a fix for yet.
HELP!! i'm new to off camera flash and my x-pro trigger only goes to 1/128 but AD200 Pro goes to 1/256 can someone please SLOWLY walk me through this?? thanks in advance!!
Hi Joey, The newest controllers (XPro and X2T) can be set to use the 0.1 stop adjustments. The controller always overrides what you have set on the flash. If you have an X1T, which only does 1/3 stop adjustments, you can enable the "APP" mode from the custom function menu. This will make your controller into a dummy trigger that simply triggers everything on the channel (meaning it won't override what you have set on the strobe). If you prefer to adjust your lights this way, the APP mode is available on the XPro and X2T as well.
Hi Reynaldo. Sounds like you might have a bad battery. If you contact the retailer that sold it to you, they might be able to do something. If you bought it from us, or If you end up needing a new battery, we offer an in house 1 year warranty on any battery we sell. Here is the link to the product on our site: strobepro.com/products/strobepro-xb29-godox-vb29-battery-for-x200-godox-ad200-ad200-pro
