You know sometimes when your audio sounds tinny and something doesn’t sound normal? Well, that’s because your audio is out of phase! And It gets worse! If the sound waves on your timeline are exactly lined up as OPPOSITE, you won’ even hear anything AT ALL, (EVEN If there is audio data) until you “flip” the phase of one of the channels!

Hey Luis how are you. This is a great review and a better workshop and demonstration of the product, I really like it. I got the same setup as you Sony professional wireless along with the road go I might switch over to the GoDocs looking at Howard performs and the distance without dropping out. Thank you for a Great review! I actually bought it because of you! I was trying to figure out the best settings for recording to a camera.. what in-camera gain and transmitter gain would be best? Low gain from transmitter to a higher gain in camera og the other way around? :) hope you can help

Excellent review and very useful info! One question: Does the gain adjustment adjust the input gain of the microphone jack, or does it adjust the output gain of the receiver for that channel? The RODE GO Wireless also has a gain adjustment, but it only adjusts the output gain of the receiver. This is an important difference, as not being able to adjust the input gain means that your audio could clip before it even reaches the camera or recorder.

I covered this at 13:06 The same thing for this unit. You can only adjust the gain on the receiver. Ideally, should be on both, the RX and TX, but it isn’t

On latency: long ago, I worked at a small-town TV station where the book (the days announcements) were recorded on a studio Ampex with 3 heads, so you could record and play back at the same time. The latency between recording and playback was about a half-second. Most people wearing headphones simply were unable to speak while recording and listening to the playback - they had to switch their headphones to the machine's input, which, of course, had no latency. But we had one announcer who could do the whole book while plugged into the play head. Quite a trick!

What I want to see them making is an actual micro 24bit RECORDER. No wireless loss to worry or to depend on a receiver... That would change the game in the wedding industry. A high res capable unit so small it could easily “disappear” when miking a bride or an interviewee, especially females. They just clip the thing right on their cleavage / bra. And usually, there is a triangle of space in that area which acts as a complete mic isolator. The mic would float.

@@jacek5384 thanks for the suggestion but this device is still too big and has no built in mic. I can’t have wires or run lavs. I need a 2x1” recorder with a built in mic that simply drops inside a bride’s dress in the chest area and press and hold 1 button with a lock feature. This item does not yet exist. I’m gonna see if Roland or Tascam wants to make it. But thanks again 👍

Hello. Usefull video. At first I was sceptical because from section starting at 11:40, when use start using audio from the M2. It sounds noisy. But as you mentionned first test is with the product out of the box. Then section from 16:30, the sound is better until the end of the video. I was about to buy a Rode Wireless Go II but thanks to your video I might change my mind and save a little money going for this Godox mics.

The built in mic is a lot superior than the lavaliere mic in my opinion. And, if you’re in the United States, ANYTHING you don’t like, simply return it. I see no risk whatsoever. two places that are safe to shop and no return headaches: Amazon and BH.

Hi, is your Godox movelink 2 has noise problem at the start of every recording ? I just bought it a week ago, and when I test it, it almost always has 5-10 second noise at the beginning of voice recording, and then it adjust itself to normal. Is it works like that ?

No, mine doesn’t do what yours is doing, but recently, sometimes I lose signal for a whole 5 seconds randomly one or twice when recording my RU-vid video, especially in the middle of saying something important!! Then, I won’t know it did that until I edit. Not happy about that either. I’m using this unit for RU-vid only. For everything else, a wedding for example, I always rely on expensive wireless such as Sony or Lectrosonics. I cannot afford to have these issues on an actual production.

I’m an iPhone user. No, there’s no problem. BUT, always do a record test first to make sure the audio is indeed being recorded. Because it’s a lightning port, sometimes it ignores it (any external device). For the best results, get the Filmic Pro App. You can even control the audio input level!

Hello. Thank you for your nice and detailed review. I bought this microphone from Godox website, in STERO mode B transmitter is disabled, only A transmitter works. Both work in mono mode. I asked Godox and they said that you need an external sound card (professional) for stereo recording. It is not possible to record in stereo on a normal mobile phone or computer. Have you experienced such a problem in stereo mode? Respects

I’d rather have them making a *high bit rate* clip on 1” x 1” micro recorder instead of wireless. Sony, Rhode, Roland, Tascam…It baffles me that yet NO ONE makes it. And imagine such micro a recorder that a bride can simply clip inside the dress chest area. When you done, she can actually remove it herself and give to you. And no wireless to go bad.

@@ArtVideoProductions The rode wireless go 2 transmitter have up to 48 hours of internal recording (must be activated via dedicated app), so in case of signal lost, the audio is safely recorded in each transmitter. But 1 inch micro recorder sounds like a great idea ;)

That’s a tough one. I have both and as far as I remember from my review on that one, they both perform almost equally. The MoveLink is very small and doesn’t use the busy UHF bands while the WMics has more menu options and more control and settings and it’s powered with AA, which you can change instantly without charging wait.

@@genocideist either one, using them in normal range such as interviews or anything within 20 meters, no issues whatsoever. Anything crazy far, regardless of what the specifications say on these units for distance , you have to spend at least $700 on a wireless system. And 20 meters is a pretty decent distance for most everything you’d need. I also reviewed the Wmic if you would want to browse my channel for it.

@@genocideist like I was saying, wireless is expensive, especially for long transmitting distances. Both Godox systems are great, the do the job well for being on a budget side. If you can’t get the MoveLink in your country, and / or the WMic is on a sale price, get the WMic.

Thanks, These are *not* recorders. You’ll need a recording device or your camera’s audio inputs. I haven’t had the opportunity to fully test how long the batteries last, but what I can tell you is, during the entire filming of this review, which takes me 3 hours to complete, the battery didn’t die.

Comprei uma Sony ZV-E10 e estou na dúvida sobre que microfones utilizar. Estou entre o Rode Wireless Go 2 e o Godox M2. O que me recomenda? Também estou analizando ter um Microfone estilo Shotgun acima da Camera. O que me indica?
