It's so nice to see a vengeful, angry, force of nature that is Godzilla. This is so close to the original Japanese film and I am here for it. Finally the force of destruction he was envisioned as.

Well this Godzilla is a walking atomic bomb, not a natural force, that's why he's taking revenge about what did atomic bombs made to him, from a normal lizard to a mutant monster.

Godzilla has had 2 roles in the films. He started as the villain, then kind of 'evolved' into an anti-hero. I like both. Really, his nature never changes. He's always a big, uncontrollable force of nature. It's the interpretation of his actions that change, whether nature is on our side or not. Regardless, it's Godzilla's world, we just live in it!

Toho has always switched between good and evil with godzilla but most of their stuff recently has been evil Godzilla.

Godzilla has always transitioned from villain to hero, nothing new about that. Monsterverse is leaning toward hero Godzilla, perfectly normal.

I'd say Monsterverse Godzilla still embodies the force of nature aspect, but in a different way. He's got his own agenda and loyalties but he's really just an ancient creature keeping his house in order. He's making sure the other Titans are where they're supposed to be and putting the less cooperative ones in line. He knows humanity is a factor and is content to leave us be unless we provoke him. And while his origins aren't completely atomic in nature, it was still the dawn of the nuclear age that woke him up and brought him back.

A lot of people forget that showa era Godzilla literally has a whole arc where he goes from villain to hero as the films go on. He’s whole view on thing’s changing and he became more of character instead of just a plot device.

@@gspida25 By the end of the Showa era Godzilla films he was protecting the Earth from aliens, befriending giant robots, and he was a dad teaching his son how to be the best kaiju he could be. Over the last 70 years, the 33 films Toho made have taken Godzilla in every direction possible.

I just watched this movie today and I think it deserves some awards. The music, the CGI, the ACTING. Wow, what a human story. While I can nitpick on a couple things in the movie. It simply was incredible. I am SO GLAD that it was released in the US and I went to see it in the theater. This is by far my FAVORITE Godzilla movie ever! I'm still excited about it! - Yes I know I repeated myself from the first trailer you reacted to. That is how excited I was after watching this!

Do you guys watch Peter and Kidra from "Ordinary Adventures"? They were actually just in Japan and the whole city of Tokyo was in full Godzilla mode in promotion of the movie. Their hotel had a 100ft Godzilla head coming out of the roof. Pretty cool.

We have now come full circle and Godzilla has returned to the original form in the original Godzilla movie. A royally pissed off Godzilla causing nothing but sheer destruction due to man's ignorance and arrogance. I remember watching the original black and white movie as a child and it scared me. And this movie has that same feel to it!

Godzilla is just like a hurricane: comes from the ocean, hits coastal towns, creates massive destruction, and retreats. Except, unlike a hurricane, Godzilla has a brain. And, even though it looks like chaotic destruction that Godzilla sows, I sometimes wonder if it is exactly the way Godzilla wants it...

Godzilla Minus One is essentially a modern remake of the 1956 Gojira. Not the edited, Americanized Godzilla: King of the Monsters that replaced all the anti- nuke scenes and dialogue that was the heart of the film with the Raymond Burr subplot. So it looks like Toho Studio is looking to go back to Godzilla's roots. And from the looks of the trailers, this is one remake that actually works!

Hello Movie Couple, Great reaction. Don't forget to react to the trailer for the new "Planet of the Apes" film coming out in May of next year. It's called "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes." In my opinion, the trailer looks amazing. Just so you know, "Godzilla Minus One is already breaking box office records in Japan. It earned $3 million dollars in it's first day alone & has managed to accumulate $7 million dollars in its first three days of release. This is the biggest opening for any "Godzilla" movie to date. This has also managed to eclipse the opening box office numbers for Legendary's Monster Verse Godzilla flicks. The film's opening is also 3 times higher than that of "Godzilla versus Kong. This should bode well for Apple TV's Godzilla series as well as the "Godzilla vs Kong" movie due out in March of next year.

Maybe run diagonally so you can run away and to the side? Maybe split up so he don't have just one target? Maybe use the limitless $ u have to keep rebuilding the city to get better defenses that cannons that just make him mad?

1. It's called panic. Large groups of people act irrationally and in a disorders fashion 2. What are you even talking about? The movie takes place literally right after ww2 reduced most of Japan to rubble. It took them years and years to rebuild. Many are living in little shacks. This isn't set in a Sci fi future with anti godzilla weapons.

I agree with the movie couple, that Godzilla is meant to be a good guy monster, but a baddy. Japan was behind America in effects, but this is top notch work and better than what the U.S. studios done so far. I also think it will do better than the Godzilla x Kong movie coming out.

Glad to see a Godzilla back to hating humanity and just destroying everything! I hate what Legendary has done with Godzilla. Toho reminding everyone they run the Godzilla game! and this movie is supposedly on a 15 million dollar budget and looks better than 300 million dollar movies over here. This is more than likely going to be the 2nd best Godzilla movie.

I do like how this is the original, uncontrollable Godzilla, not mixed in with King Kong, no corporate conspiracy/power play. No MechaGodzilla. Just a monster wreaking havoc. The fact it's WW2 technology that's fighting it...sheesh. BUT I would like to see another futuristic rendition, also based in Japan called "Godzilla and the Rise of Ultraman!" 🙂
