dpYGO (Yu-Gi-Oh!) Sooo here is an idea, they could put these in duel links. I know that you basically cannot afford the cost of the castle but this deck would be very fast there, so what i am seeing is a deck that hits hard and fast but is also wildly inconsistent and hit or miss. If they made this with the castle and the strong chick as level-up rewards I think it would pretty interesting. Let me know your thoughts. By the way love your vids!!
dpYGO (Yu-Gi-Oh!) Well if you prevent your self from banishing with the effect it will pop itself but you don't banish 10 plus you most likely have a way to get another one in field so you can keep abusing the effect
Gustavo Ramos Plascencia which is still not as bad. If it was the other way and the user had to mill 10, you could argue this deck could be worth it. Small "could" lol
titan in the Anime the effect for the castle was. It can't be destroyed and also your opponent sends half of their deck to the graveyard as cost. Yugi won because he ended up having only 1 card and thus could not halve his deck.
Gren Maju decks are terrible. Even if for some masochistic reason you want a gigantic beater that dies to effect negation and is a shiny target for every kind of removal imaginable, just play Utopia Double or Draglubion. And if you prefer beater that DOESN'T get totally screwed by effect negation, just use ANY monster with a serviceable Atk stat (and preferably protection) and then double said Atk with Dugares.
looking at these cards the only way I can think off the top of my head to survive longer is to play necroface, which you will never be guaranteed to have in hand and is possible to banish with castle. All the opponent has to do is stall long enough to let you mill yourself out, if you have less than 10 cards in your deck castle will pop itself and their entire deck will be the equivalent of hung over. Therefore, I shall be referring to this as the drunk archetype
Wait Konami made these fricking filler arc anime cards a thing? What?! Of all the anime exclusives they could choose from they went with this?! What crazy pills ended up in the water coolers at HQ?!?!
I am pretty pissed they didn't print Starve Venomy and Dark Anthlion.. Nor the last D/D/D Pendulum Reiji has or the Odd Eyes Gates.. I feel like the Fairy Tale cards should have been in the TCG version first..
Konami, being self aware? KONAMI? I think they lost that ability half way throug making mgs phantom pain buddy -___- edit: probably earlier now that i think about it for second, sweet christ
Oh i get the field spell, it's everything else that makes me question their grip on reality. These things were special back in fricking duel monsters when special summons weren't mandatory just yet. These things got printed at least five years to late
I like the idea of the archetype. Not just as a Cinderella/fairy tale thing, but really high risk/high reward. If they could make the banishing of 10 somehow worth it, it would be really exciting to play with/against.
While I completely agree you're going to use the continuous spell on opponents monsters pretty much all the time, I do understand what it does for your own cards. Most of the good effects are on summon so it (kind of) bounces them to summon them again for their effects next turn.
Considering the fact that all these cards weren't even really connected other then by who used them in the anime... I have to say, they did a good job in the conversion to real life.
run the brilliant fusion engine. with the predaplants you also have a link 2 aromaseraphy jasmine OR rank 3 invoker into thousand blades which give you more plusses when you go into the link and seraphinite sending tricklown. and if you add lonefire, it will increase consistency, cause thats 9 cards you can draw to have seraphinite
I don’t care if they are bad I don’t care if I’m going to lose every god damn game I play I just wanna play this Archetype because it reminds me of the time before I understood what an archetype was... in the middle of the synchro era.
I'm really glad they FINALLY released this archetype. The banish 10 face down maintenance cost is pretty high but otherwise all the cards seem fun. Definitely not ultra competitive, but also not terrible... *whispers* unlike the red - eyes link, new Trish and Seraphic Judgement *what's that.mp4*
Some dude went and made 2nd place YCS portland using this card, the bird that searches it, and Hex trude (the level 8) and it basically is supposed to hit you RIGHT in the temple with a 16k Gren Maju da Eiza on turn 2 or something (he also ran eater of millions and ran 3 pot of desires...You're supposed to win with eater of millions or gren Maju and they both can get #bigBIGBIG.)
Not sure why they kept the high drawback on castle while also removing every benefit that justified the drawback in the first place. this archetype would be really neat if golden castle wouldnt play desires each standby without drawing you 2, also normal summon restriction
What is nice about this archetype is free isolde access. Field spell into hans into iron knight into isolde is a start that can lead to some very broken boards. Additionally, since iron knight doesn't specifically state opponents card effects, you can fuse with it, ritual with it or pop it with a card like diagram or a metalfoes monster and search ANY warrior in the game. The archetype as an archetype is bad. The archetype as a support archetype has a lot of potential, especially if your combos feature ancient fairy dragon in any way shape or form.
Its lacking in summoning conditions and its has a waaaay to heavy cost to have its main ace card on the field.I feel its sadly becoming.........*cough*VENDREAD*cough*
You can review and complain how this archetype won’t see competitive play. But some decks are simply made for fun. I my self will be playing this deck for many years. Plus we will be getting more support for this. It’s only the beginning.
There is a way to get arround the Cost. Thoght its a 20 years old trap card. Solomons Lawbook, you skip your next standby phase. So you play it and in your opponents draw phase you activate it. Sure its no permanent solution. But having this Field Spell 1 or even 2 turns longer on the board makes a huge diffrence. I will definetly try it out.
The issue is that it's a cost, you can't just ignore that and have the castle go bye-bye. If you can't get rid of the castle on your own in some way you're on a VERY heavy timer (why would your opponent care about the castle if it's hurting you more than them?)
Ballade90 everyone beings up the time limit, but most games are done in 4 turns anyway so I'm not so sure that's an issue 😹😹 (Of course you lose against grindy decks but how many of those do people actually play)
It's like people only see cards in a vacuum and not with the full card pool that is available, so again if you are playing Necroface and Eater of Millions this castle is a god send for those cards since you can get two very powerful monsters and refill your decks. Plus Hans and the Knight in combination with the castles special summoning condition makes this archetype a Rank 4 Spam engine and with number 27 being a thing well...
Which you have to normal summon. Which you can't do if you used the effect. So you're gonna play this then not use its effect then play necro or gren. Why even? For the mild protection it provides?
This archetype's suffering from a severe (read: brief) case of 'for want of a nail'; for want of a decent upkeep on the Field, the Field suffers, for want of a field, the archetype suffers. If not for that ten-card supermill, Stromberg would be a decent card, leaving us piloting an interesting-but-not-overpowered retro theme; as it stands, that first sentence of Stromberg is an albatross 'round the whole theme's neck, and we're left wanting a way to either subvert that or else (as in-show) force it upon our opponent if we want to actually run the archetype as a whole for the amount of turns it needs to actually function.
If you ever wonder how different Duel Links is to standard: Currently, Castle and Watts are… abundant in ranked duels. (That’s not even with the character who has an ability to skip your standby phase) Crazy how half the main deck size combined with only 4000 starting life points makes those 1000ATK direct attackers become a popular strategy
One thing i gotta say, works extremely well with a banisher deck (soul absorbtion, gren maju, eater of millions, ect.) bc none of the cards can be targeted without concequence for atk, gren maju essensialy gains 4k atk every turn, eater gains 1k every turn, and u gain 5k lp for every soul absorbtion on the field. And the combo is extremely effective on metas such as blue eyes and lightsworn if u have macro cosmos in play. Ive had up to 50k lp with this combo, it works perfectly. Alone is a seperate story bc u dont get any benifits from the 10 face down banished unless u have a necroface in ur hand.
Seriously though, all it needs is a boss monster that gains effect based on how many face down banished cards you have. Keep the fairy tale motif, call it the Grimm
the fact that terraforming is now a one card Isolde is kinda cool. If you run the equips, summoning Armageddon knight to dump malicious generates a lot of advantage. If you happen to make your way to ancient fairy and use its eff to trade in Stromberg for another field spell, you'll avoid having to pay the maintenance cost too. So in short, hans, iron knight and the castle might make for a cool warrior engine. The rest of the archetype is meh, but I'm glad these cards are printed and aren't absolutely unplayable :) (they're not great, but not terrible either)
I was thinking more along the lines of a warrior turbo deck, so something like temple of the elemental lords would probably make more sense. If you're playing a dedicated fairy tale deck, you might as well just grab another Stromberg with ancient fairy and then just wait till next turn to activate it, offsetting the cost and letting you continue your plays. Pseudo space wouldn't contribute anything since it wouldn't let you summon something else from the deck (HOPT on Stromberg).
Hexe trude is probably the better card from this archetype if only because you can, with one card, get a beat stick with 2600 as you can ditch the bird/use terraforming, get the castle, search Hexe, then you can have her hit the Castle and then swing twice. If you're going second and you have 1 of the 6 cards to search the Castle you can hit the opponent for a LOT of damage. If you have Iron Cage in hand as well you have a backup for when there's a monster your opponent has that she can't run over for whatever reason (it doesn't target or destroy so you send them away for good) and yank it back (and since it doesn't negate effects or put into defense position, you can yank Link monsters with this), so with two cards you can clear up to 3 monsters that they summoned and on your standby phase you'll have a monster you destroyed wtih Iron Cage. You can also repeat this pretty much every turn as long as you have another bird/terraforming in hand so you can have another Hexe on the field, you can destroy two cards and run over 4 monsters (and one of those cards you destroy should be the Castle). So far it really is just Hexe, Bird, Cage, and Castle that are 'good', and if more support helps negate that horrendous cost that Castle has, it seems like the rushdown potential is there. Otherwise you're playing...what else with those four? Even if you roll with 3 copies of each (terraforming included), that's 25 cards you have left to use and so far only 6 monsters, so with all the other necessary/staple cards, how much room are you going to have for monsters to actually swing with and have protect your life points?
There could be some nice builds with this considering castle being super searchable and it being able to summon the entire archetype. Could go Greif/Terraforming into castle to summon trude to destroy castle if you dont want to pay maintenance, or you could summon hans and knight to get a rank4/missus/isolde. If we get more stuff this might be kinda workable but the normal summon restriction kills it for now.
the only "potential" saving grace this "theme" has is that this isn't all of the cards leon used in the anime. there's a couple cards around sleeping beauty, tom thumb, and i think one other fairy tale, so we could feasibly get those at some point, though it will probably end up getting pushed back to next year like the second half of the timelord support did last year. so pick the stuff up now when it's most likely cheap, and get ready to flip the stuff if/when the rest of the cards get printed. but for now, i wouldn't take this stuff outside of a locals, and even that's a bit of a stretch.
Watch Konami print it with the condition "Cannot be activated during Main Phase 2" or "You cannot Special Summon during the turn you activate this card".
XBrain130 Malefic Stardust prevents Field Spells you control from being destroyed by card effects. You can see the same thing happen in Malefics elsewhere with Mound of the Bound Creator and Malefic Paradox Dragon. Paradox normally SD's when Malefic World isn't out, but Mound prevents it from self destructing because it's Level 10.
So remind me of the rulings here - the carriage says ypue opponent can't target the castle also it can't be destroyed . that applies to your cards obviously. So does that mean the castle won't destroy itself if you have 9 or less in the deck? I think its like how traps still have to pay maintenance cost even if they're negated but I'm not sure here - if you "have to pay the cost" but when you can't it stays, that's actually pretty damn good.
now wait a minute, hold up, the carriage has the effect that protects the castle from being destroyed by card effects, does that include the castle's own effect of destroying itself if you can't pay cost? because if that's the case if you have both the carriage and the castle on the field you're practically invincible as long as the carriage doesn't get blown up by a card effect AND having carriage on the field would cause the maintenance cost of the castle to become optional. but that's only if it works like that.
You right. :T wait till we get more support for them in the future though. Gonna be all about snow....n-not fairytail snow. Snow White. :O seven dwarfs are gonna be like them ojamas XD lol
These cards are exciting purely for the nostalgia value if you are an old soul who watch the 1st series anime. In the anime the Castle forced it's cost to be paid by your opponent and remember this was in old school Yu-Gi-Oh! so it seemed more broken than it was. Yes it's bad, but like most of the cards in this pack it's all for nostalgia. And yes if you can't tell, I'm one of those old souls.
I can't think of the name of the spell (just seen it a while ago on master duel) but you will have to stack 3 of that one spell that allows any spell card that affects you to reflect but for this archetype only
Playing Devil's advocate here, there's some D/D cards that can negate a spell's effect during your Standby Phase. They mostly get used to prevent the burn from Contract, but if they are splashable enough they could _in theory_ negate that awful banish 10 effect. I've never run D/D, and only played against them a handful of times, so this might not be feasible, but IF IT IS... It might be aite
true. the decks mostly about protecting the castle, and maintaining it. solomons lawbook, or negating effects during the standby phase, or even using necroface to help reset your deck after the massive banishing for some heavy face strikes.
