How is Carmen doing?
Well, super on the one hand and no so much on the other. Having to take her to the vet and then medicate her has given her a poor first impression of me.
When she first met me she was sweet and affectionate. Now she's shy and doesn't want to engage. However, she needed to go to the veterinarian and get medicated. And, with time, she will adjust. Plus, she and Boatrix eye each other often, so I'm sure that they will bond and become quite happy together!

I do, I sing to her at night. I started giving her a bite of my keto crepe so that I'm avoiding anything that will bring the yeast infection back -- and she likes it. She's getting something "special" and she knows it because I'm not giving it out to the whole flock. She also watches Boatrix and he watches her. When I see signs that they are ready, I'll start to put them together outside to see how they do, but they are giving me good signs so far :)

I am sure she will stop plucking after adapting. I read before getting Harry that female gc are more sensitive to environment changes and tend to be more fearful, and it can lead to plucking. Males on the other hand are more anxious and because of anxiety and hormones they can pluck. But anyway, it must be temporary cause her feathers look gorgeous. She is just adapting. And thank God she has you, usually people don't pay attention to infections before it is too late. Your gc will be best friends soon 😍😍

Yes, it's hard to read the signs of illness with a bird. Thanks, I'm expecting to see her come around once age settles. Frankly, I'm trying to bribe her with treats that aren't unhealthy for her ❤ like Leto crepe parrot-size bites 😊

The poor little girl is having a hard time, but I'm confident you'll win her trust back when all the medicating is finished and she's able to join the flock. Such a beautiful bird! I have a new girlfriend for Mango coming tomorrow; a little cinnamon-pied kakariki. After her quarantine, I'm hoping she'll fit right in and be a companion to Mango. Right now, he and the male quail live in their bachelor pad together and have become quite good friends, but I think he'll be happier with another kakariki!

@@ParrotBliss Yes, my parents will be collecting her for me on their way down from the city (Melbourne) tomorrow, which is really helpful. Otherwise its a 6-hour round trip for me to do the pickup. Kakarikis breed in Winter (now) so I'm going to keep the two separate until the season is past, so she can get used to being an indoor bird. Maybe we'll do babies next year.

Sounds like Carmen is having a rough transition…it’s only been a week. When our 15 year old African Grey came back to my husband…she had no belly or neck feathers…this was my first indoor bird experience. After a year, they grew back. You’re fortunate that you have such great humidity! She will settle in. Took me a year to win over Dax, our A. Grey…with your skills, she will settle in.

PS Our male Ecclectus, Clyde can have a call that gets up to around 80 decibels…not too often which is great for our sanity 😊!

Isn't that call something? I didn't expect that call at all. My girl Darla does the wings but not like that, she exercises her wings alot, but its not that fast flutter, my girl does it slower, then lets out her high pitch scream

She's not thrilled... the call is nervous. Big change for her, so we are adjusting. I'm trying to make it as easy on her as possible :)

@ParrotBliss yes, Darla is nervous too. She likes me, but was an outside bird, paired with a male. She did not care for the male, she is 6 years old. She is very sweet, but still quite nervous.
