Thanks for the opportunity Tim! My daughter really enjoyed helping her dad with this project. This gave her a much needed distraction from school or lack there of! It was 498 messages more like 356ish. Thank you all for the mostly positive feedback. This stuff is not easy...so we should go easier on Tim! I will work in the umms for the Tacoma review.

I have the 2019 STX RWD. I’ve never achieved 26mpg on highway but do average approx 25. I’ve noticed a significant difference between going 60-ish mph and 70-ish mph. Somewhere in there may be the point where 2.7 really has to start working hard to move a giant brick through the wind resistance. I’ve also noticed the dash mpg indicator tends to indicate 0.5 mpg higher than actual on highway. I love my truck by the way. By far, the XL-STX is the best bang for the buck in the 1/2 ton truck world!

Nice truck! enjoy it! By the way, you should do oil changes every 5k miles on the ecoboost motors. I have done a lot of research because I am interested in buying one but haven't pulled the trigger yet but everyone says, 5k oil changes is the way to go.

Stephen Galvan if you’re changing full synthetic oil that early, you’re just throwing money out the window. It also depends on how hard you’re driving it, like towing or off roading in extreme temperatures.

50 to 60 dollars every 3000 miles is a small price to pay to keep those passageways clean especially with direct-injected engines and tiny turbos i would say if you can find a 5 liter f150 go with that some people are lucky but most aren't with ecoboost engine they run extremely hot but i feel you most people arnt as anal with there vehicles as me and for that reason my 1.20. 15 and my 75 year old trucks all still run like new 3000 or 3 month witch ever comes 1st regardless of brand or type of oil it all breaks down the same

I change it every 6000 miles. Got told by a quiklane worker he said they go be the percentage he said 10% oil life is when they change it. I left laughing the guy was still talking oh hell no 6000 is a good number.
@noniespam
@noniespam 4 года назад
Brian your mileage should go up with some mileage if you can stay out of the turbos.. I have a 2015 3.5 with 36,000 miles. The last time I filled it up my range said 784 miles.. The last dozen fill ups my computer says averaging 22.4, but I would say thats 75% highway cruising at 70mph. I noticed if I drop down to 55 it starts to clime but come on who drives 55??? So I did the math with a 36 gallon tank and 784 mile range that is a hair under 22mpg. I’m satisfied with that on the 3.5 twin turbo.. Nice looking truck and good luck.

I just traded my 2015 F150 - 3.5 EB @365hp (82k miles) for a new 2020 F150 - 5.0V8 @395hp.... I was very skeptical with all the comparisons I've been reading, however the 2020 has the appearance package I've been looking for, so I went with it. Let me tell you, I l LOVED my 2015, but my new 2020 is insane! The 2015 turbos had to catch up with full throttle sometimes, whereas the 2020 has zero lag, when you tromp it in Sport mode, get ready for great sound, solid torque, and no lag going thru the gears. The 2020 5.0 transmission has 5 modes - Normal, Tow, Wet/Snow, Eco, and Sport. I traveled from Nashville to Chattanooga TN yesterday in the Eco mode (2 hr drive) and since I-24 is a 2 lane past Murfreesboro, my speed fluctuated from 65-80 depending on traffic. I landed in Chattanooga at 22 mpg! We are traveling to Naples soon for Christmas, and I expect to get at least 23mpg. My advice is, while there is plenty of respect for Eco Boost, check out the 5.0 V8 before you commit!

I have the same truck, purchased in July 2020. The fuel mileage is decent, but the software has a different potential distance per tank, every time you fill it. Everywhere from 950km to 1180km per tank. That's a 125L tank (33gal). Actual distance driving, which I do frequently, and with ECO enabled usually results in 1050 to 1200km per tank. I constantly watch it just to see. That's 590mi to 745mi for you guys south of the border. During Canadian winter with studded snow tires on, I was getting an average of 1000km (621mi) per tank. Towing my 12' enclosed trailer with about 3000lbs of weight in the trailer, resulted in 600km (373mi) with Tow Mode enabled or 750km (466mi) per tank without Tow enabled. Obviously not great, but it is a tiny motor with 325hp and 400ft lb torque. Overall, I bought it to be fuel efficient for distance driving, which it is, but it's still a truck when I need a truck. As an odd comparison, my wife's 2016 Mazda CX5 V6 is essentially identical for fuel mileage if you factor in tank size and mileage per tank, so still not bad for a truck in my opinion.

Personally, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a vehicle to deliver the mileage as advertised. If the sticker says 26, It should do 26. The real question is why do they get away with putting 26 mph highway on the sticker when the truck can't do that.

I do the same with my 1931 Ford Model A (3.3l @ 40HP zero turbo 🙂 ) Why? Moisture condense on all metal.. it gets in as well as dirt.. OIL is cheap and Ford dealers do oil change cheap. Brian finally took the plunge... congrats! Best of luck with it sir. The 2.7 has a CGI block which is similar to a diesel. Of all the EcoBoost engines, this one should be the best. There is someone on the Ford-Trucks forum with a 2015 and 2.7 with over 300k on it. The FordPass app sucks... My 2017 Escape AWD with 2.0 EB rated at 20/27/23 gets 15 mpg around town. One more thing don’t trust your dash to tell you fuel economy, my Chrysler Pacifica will tell me I’m getting 27.6 MPG’s and check it with a calculator and it’s really getting 23.4, FCA’s MPG calculating are notoriously optimistic, the a Pacifica is an awesome driving van just as I’m sure their RAM trucks are and to be honest (I love my F150), but if I could have afforded it I’d gotten the RAM Rebel, hands down best looking truck on the market.

I was thinking today as I was driving my truck take 500-1000 lbs off this truck and a 8-10 speed transmission it would be right there with the rest as far as mpg even with a 14 year old engine design. And it’s reliability is far above the domestics imo.

I think if it's maintained it will. I've owned both Toyota's and F150's. My F150's were a lot better. I use to be a mechanic so i always kept up on on maintaining them. It makes sense that Ford would have more problems. They crush Toyota on sales. Almost a million F150 a year vs Tundra maybe 100k. Yep. Tomorrow, I'm interviewing my friend who just bought a new Chevy Silverado LT Trail Boss. I can't wait to bring you that video! Last night, I did a walk around of the Chevy Blazer and will have a review out soon on that. I do agree, lots of Ford in the news lately.

you are not a ford fan? Your last name is Branco, I know it's not spelled the same as Bronco, but come on, lol.

@@officialyasir Lol, Yep I would like to own one, but not new. I remember dealing with Ford for warranty issues, and in my experience, it was one of the worst companies that I have dealt with when you have issues. If you are lucky, then you are good to go. Yes not all manufacturers are great with warranty, but with the Fords I had owned in the past, I would never go back again. My head hurts thinking of it, Lol. All good. :)

Peter Branco oh that sucks! I owned a f150 for 3.5 years under warranty but never had a issue that required any warranty work. Honestly, I avoid dealers as much as possible. But I agree, from my own research, I feel like Toyota dealers are better, ford is bad and Jeep/RAM is the worst!

the extra "peppiness" in the truck by getting 91 octane gas is all in your head. It doesn't increase your horsepower.

I’ve had several problems with my 2019 Ford F-150 FX4 crew cab with 2.7 engine. First I had water leaking into the cab from a air vent that was located behind the back seat (driver side). Ford had to remove my trucks bed and remove all of my trucks lower interior to do. Ford scratched up my trucks bed, broke several pieces of interior, and didn’t bother to put back a few other pieces of interior when they “repaired” the water leak (16,500 miles at this point). Then my truck crapped out on the side of the road leaving me stranded. Truck towed to Ford and I was eventually told the issue was due to a faulty temperature sensor. That repair required taking out the intake manifold and some of the injectors. When I got the truck back it’s still didn’t run right and had to go back to the dealer again (approx 17,500 miles). Now I have a bubble in the dashboard in front of the passenger seat which the dealer is saying they would have to remove my entire dashboard and replace it to correct the problem. I also have a small cloudy spot in the factory windshield which if I want corrected would require a new windshield. I am at the point now where if the truck leaves me stranded again or I have another major repair I’m going to have to get rid of it. I can’t afford to have a vehicle breaking down on me all the time. I bought a new vehicle to avoid all of these problems. Other than all the repairs when the truck is running properly it meets my needs and I really like it.

If you’re really having that many problem with it then look up the lemon law requirements for your state and lemon law their asses on it so they have to buy it back. I actually just bought a Transit Connect that was lemon lawed over a bunch of minor crap mostly. “This trim piece is coming off. That trim piece broke. A fog light burned out.” The biggest item they repaired under warranty for the previous owner was a blind spot sensor went bad so they swapped the whole rear bumper. All of that let me buy it at a good price. 15,800 miles on a 2018 xlt model for $17,900. If you truly have issues with yours then make get those requirements and make them buy it back and get yourself something else.

I’m in NYS and I don’t think the Lemon law here fits my situation so far.

Cliff Morrison might not, but just for reference a quick search led me to this for New York Duty to Repair: A reasonable chance for a manufacturer or its authorized agent to repair a problem for a new car is considered to be: Four or more attempts to repair and the problem continues to exist; OR The car is out of service by reason of repair of one or more problems for a cumulative total of 30 days or more. So while the first problem doesn’t much apply since it has been multiple issues for you, you might fall under the second part at some point And remember while you are under the bumper to bumper warranty any kind of repair no matter how involved they must do. And if that dealer does bad service you are not obligated to use them for the warranty repairs. You can take it to a different dealer for repair work even under warranty because the warranty is issued by Ford not the specific dealer and any Ford dealer can do the warranty work and still get paid for it

What person in their right mind would buy a heavy full-size [crew cab] truck with the smallest engine available? I would've at least with the NA 3.3L V6 or the 3.0L EcoDiesel powertrain for a pickup like his in the video. Furthermore, one doesn't buy a full-size, crew cab, 4x4 truck with the smallest possible powertrain option in hopes of getting great MPGs. Lol...
