I work on the big project most days, but there's no point putting up a video until there is enough interesting footage to watch. I doubt there would be much interest in watching me cleaning stuff, measuring things and standing around thinking a lot!

Lovely Video! Sorry for chiming in, I am interested in your initial thoughts. Have you heard the talk about - Rozardner Successful Handyman Reality (google it)? It is a great exclusive guide for how to start a handyman business without the normal expense. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my old buddy Taylor after many years got cool results with it.

Spotted the cover peeking out from behind the big pile of books and knew instantly it was the Collins DIY book. I've owned this book for years and can vouch for how good this book is. In an age of RU-vid I must admit to not picking it up for a while. I've wasted many an hour watching videos that turned out to be very unhelpful when my first port of call should have been the Collins.

Spot on re the tradies. But it's getting harder and harder to find guys willing to do it these days with the regs the way they are. I find the secret is calling them in first. Spend an hour with them and get them to tell/show you what to do. Rather than calling them and saying "come finish off this job". Nice video :-)

Maximus Bookthumper..... Remember everything runs on smoke....so if you let the smoke out it wont work. I.e. if you turn on a washing machine and smoke comes out......thats it ...kaput! Same with electricals! 😉

Sound advice, thanks Max; it occured to me that in these days of going straight to the internet for the answer I'd forgotton about my Collins DIY. I've just dug it out and found that mine dates from 1998. Time to order the new version!

I like your approach to getting things done. I found your channel by chance round about part 4 of the Landrover rebuild when looking for something else. Watched all of them, then the tractor engine rebuild and the ZIL. Looking forward to seeing more on project Awesome The stuff in the the one minute Teaser looks fascinating.

Loving the series. I would guess that the TV build was a 405 line set. While working as a TV engineer for Radio Rentals (remember them?) I can remember the day the last 405 line trasnmission was shutdown from Crystal Palace.

The Audel series are rather good. They have a series for pretty much any trade and have been around for quite some time. I've a 1959 copy of the plumbers and steam fitters guide. Though somewhat dated, there's a chapter on lead work, it's still useful and interesting.

The problem with this society we live in these days is ...if it’s broke ...throw it away and buy a new one , or pay someone silly money to come and fix it . I’m sorry but without me sounding a tight arse , I’d rather try and fix it myself the amount of decent books and you tube /inter web etc anything can be achieved by someone with a small amount of savvy . Excellent video once again sir 👍

He was a clever chap, much like yourself! He was chief electrician and projectionist at the Glasgow Empire (I think) in the 30's. My fav tale of his was an officer in the war asking if he could ride a motorbike - "No, Sir", Officer hands him the key "you will by by the time you get to London!". Cheers Max, I sit here drinking a homebrew that you inspired me and my eldest to do earlier in the year. "He's a lovely man!" he always says, he's an aspiring blacksmith though so he's biased!

Would you have a look in your new 2018 edishion of the Rural Planning Handbook for the ISBN book number so I could use it to obtain a copy ? Regards Dale

Sadly, it's no longer possible to make your own lead acid batteries in the UK, as sulphuric acid (in the concentration you'd need) has been reclassified as a regulated substance and you need an Explosives Precursors and Poisons licence to buy it, possess it or use it.

Up until this year, I've just got Rhino Drain Cleaner and cleaned it up a la Nile Red: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4DUGRWjdNLI.html But, this year, Robert Dyas have replaced it on their shelf with a sissy version and put "the good stuff" behind the counter and I haven't plucked up the courage to ask for some yet.

In fact, we know that you know that you know that we know! Getting back to the point I wanted to ask, are there any books you know of that exists which focus on converting a vintage horse box into a motorhome?

Well it's been about 20 years since I went looking for such a book but I remember I had a copy of John Wickersham's "Build Your Own Motorcaravan" book and found it very useful at the time. There are probably many others written since then though!
