I registered in 2012 or 2013. I wound up getting Donkey Kong Jr., Game & Watch's Mario Cement Factory, and Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins. It's not much when I think about it but it was something.
Aj Irving Wow, the first reply isn't someone not getting the joke that R.I.P. in peace is supposed to be redundant. That's usually the norm for RU-vid-comments.
One of the most positive customer service experiences I ever had was getting an error fixed on my Club Nintendo account this one time. I had just registered a DSiXL, but after i put in the code, my computer randomly froze. When I checked my account after, the code was used but I didn't get the 200 coins that I should have gotten for registering it. I called the support number, which was something I definitely wasn't used to because I was only around 14 or 15 at the time. It wasn't hard to get in touch with an actual human at all (pretty rare for support numbers these days), and the lady I talked to who helped me out was really nice and understanding. She added the coins to my account no questions asked (you know, besides checking my account to make sure my story was true). Those 200 coins put me exactly at 600, so I was able to get Platinum status that year, and I think that was the only time I ever managed it. I was really happy. :) That experience, combined with how good the Club Nintendo stuff in general was really made me appreciate Nintendo as a company a lot more. I feel like they care about their customers and fans more than most other big corporations do. I hope that whatever reward program ends up replacing it is just as good.
I really hope that they'll have some kind of successor to Club Nintendo soon, I was a little late to it (I think it was 2012 that I started using Club Nintendo), but I still thought it was really cool. Either way, this was a good video. I really like your style, Balrog. Your videos are kind of like Club Nintendo, they've continually gotten better, but still have some flaws, but even then, they've become a part of many people's lives.
I remember going to the site after I knew it had been shut down just to see what was left, and bursting into laughter upon seeing what looked like Mario at a funeral and Toad being completely in his own little world dancing around with Toadette when in reality, Toadette died three weeks ago in a horrible mushroom related accident and he's actually visiting HER funeral.
My greatest memory with Club Nintendo was the little reservable bags (red/white and blue/white) I no longer use them for their practical purpose of holding DSs but I still use them to put my 3DS on a soft surface so it kinda looks like a little red (and blue) carpet for my DS. Thanks Club Nintendo.
I will never forget the time that the calendar said "nobember" instead of "November" that was amazing. I freaked out and showed my parents like omg they made a typo!!! Amd its funny I actually found out about them when my ds lite broke and I wanted to see if they could fix it. Thankfully after that I was hooked and got to grab that statue in the coin block box. It is sad to see it go after all those years of running to put your codes in to get the newest coolest stuff, but hopefully we will get something along the same lines that will bring us other memories ^_^
I remember my first experience with Club Nintendo was through a chuggaaconroy post on Facebook. I think it was during his Let's Play of The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask for N64. He mentioned that Club Nintendo had the game up for Virtual Console Reward. And the Zelda Fanboy in me wanted a third copy of the game (I have the Gold Cartridge N64 and LoZ Collectors Edition, 4th copy being the N3DS Version) I signed up for Club Nintendo, looked for the code in my Wii and DS games and inserted them all into my Club Nintendo and I got enough Coins to get Majora's Mask. And instantly redeemed it and downloaded it on my Wii and I played that whole night. After that, CN was just a lost account until I heard the Service was going to shut down. So I got all my 3DS game codes in and had enough with the remaining to download New Super Mario Bros. 2. Sadly, I had enough to get posters, but they all ran out. Which really irked me and I said eff it. But yeah. I didn't have much fond memories. I know I did registered two of my 3DS but I didnt got Coins for my LoZ A Link Between Worlds 3DS XL. Which irked me a lot. And I bought Mario Kart 7 and Senran Kagura Burst through eShop and I didn't know the freaking Survey was available for those. So because of the time lapse when I did log on for the last redemption. I wasn't able to redeem those Coins. Which irked me. So I had more depressing memories with CN than good. Hopefully the next service is actually good.
For some reason they never sent my Zelda posters and I never got them I forgot to redeem my coins for status every single year I forgot to download like 3 games digitially. I forgot to get the smash bros CD So, basically.... I lost probably about a hundred bucks worth of merch that I could have gotten from club Nintendo But you know? Still loved it anyways. I just have many regrets. Many, many regrets....
I remember spending several hours filling out surveys to build up enough coins for the gold Nunchuck. I'll never forget that day. It was definitely worth it since it perfectly matched my Skyward Sword WiiMote. Club Nintendo definitely holds a special place in my heart, and I'll never forget all of the great rewards I was able to get from it.
"Europe had awesome stuff" ...not until recently. The only thing I ever wanted was the SM Galaxy soundtrack and then some Wii Points. They've only added the cool stuff recently- we didn't even have digital games until they announced it was shutting down. But it was nice to hear about your experience on Club Nintendo :)
I think Grill off with ultra hand deserves it's own trophy and stage in smash bros just for the fact that even when no one wanted it... It was always there for us.
+Balrog Well here comes another detour! Let's begin! After Video: 6:20 HEY THE CALLENDER! I USED TO HAVE THAT ONCE FOR A YEAR!...oh my gosh what memories.....End of video: Hey isn't that the small shit or the medium? ANYWAYS I liked how you explained a lot of details of club nintendo and your expirience with it and such, I liked every story you put, from the fact that you got the wrong sized shirt of yoshi's new island, to how you ended up getting games digitally, to the fact that you got an entirly new poster of the skyward sword poster WITHOUT the flaw in it. and so much more. As for MY club nintendo expirience, I don't remember it that much...and I did do it for awhile, and I always kept my account because I loved the Emails about the new nintendo games that were coming out and such...and it was thanks to that that I first heard about metroid prime trilogy for the wii in an email that had a some Christmas deal on games like new super mario bros wii, and two others, WITH metroid prime trilogy, and I clicked on the part that had prime trilogy and the trailer that played was so well done that....I FELL IN LOVE WITH IT AND WANTED IT SO BAD!....I got it sometime months later. and I liked it. As for when I stoped getting emails about it and gave up on it...I think it was when I got my very own laptop, I ended up not carring about it anymore and just...never bothered to log back in to get the Emails. As for the prizes I got, it was of a callender, as I mentioned earlier, and I think it was ether 2009 or 2010...I forget which. and an animal crossing card set, which ONCE used the plastic cover that the cards came in, with the cards in it as a support thing to keep my 4 wheeled night stand which was missing a wheel, to keep it supported....I got a new nightstand now and....now I wonder what happened to thoughs cards...hmmmmmmm. Well That's it for now...and probably for ether right nor or...the day, I don't know I'm kind of exsausted right now on seeing all these videos for this comment comentery thing.....so I may ether do the last detour and review for sometime later today, tommarow or someother time during the week. Who knows...OK See ya later! and nice videos bro!
This video made me remember the final reward. I looked at all the Platinum rewards with my girlfriend, who had also reached Platinum, and I was amazed at what choices I had. I was waffling really hard when my girlfriend suggested Mario Kart 7. We both got it for free and proceeded to have a ball with it. Thanks, Club Nintendo.
The only memories I have with Club Nintendo is having to spend 300+ on video games to even come CLOSE to the amount of stars (coins in NA) needed to order something from the site. The only things you could order were folders, a 3DS XL Luigi Hat Case (Which actually doesn't even fit the 3DS XL, I spent stars on that) and pencils. New Zealand get's the short end of the stick when it comes to stuff like this lol
Actually, I was already a Club Nintendo Member in the early 90s :) No joke. Back then, there was also a Club Nintendo in my Country (Germay), complete with membership-card in credit card format :D With this card you could go to a local store that was part of their program and get a Nintendo Magazine for free ^^ Nothing big like Nintendo Power, but it had advertisements and information about the upcoming games, which was pretty amazing back in the day, especially since I lived in an area with very very little videogame coverage - finding a videogame magazine in a magazine store was an actual rarity! Unfortunately, I seem to have lost the membership card due to a move - I might be lucky and it turns up again, but I don't have my hopes too high. Still remember how it looked like clearly though :) I remember that the coolest thing the Club Nintendo ever offered here, was a golden statue of Link on Epona. I think it went for 7,500 to 8,000 Points back then (you got 250 points per game). Unfortunately, it sold out incredible fast and I hadn't had nearly enough points back then. I also lost a huge ton of points. At some point, Club Nintendo claimed that unused stars would expire after a set amount of months. So out of fear that I wouldn't find something to buy and the points expire, I didn't traded them in, but kept the papers with the codes seperately to turn them in whenever I need them. I never lost any points on Club Nintendo. The "points expire" thing never seemed to get into action... (in every newsletter, the section of "points expiring this month" stayed on zero...) But what I didn't knew back then, was that the codes for the points also had an expire date... I think I lost about 5000 Points due to this. Which is huge, and could've been spent on that awesome Toad Lamp Figure... :o Due to the Club Nintendo closure, they brought a lot of cool stuff into the shop so far. Since the anouncement, I got the Zelda - A Link Between Worlds Soundtrack and the Majoras Mask Lamp - they're both amazing :D Previously to that, I spent quite some points on Wallpapers and such (because the offers never seemed to be that great) and got some Soundtracks for Zelda Games and Baten Kaitos :D Outside of the Point Section, the Club Nintendo also offered a lot of Bonus actions for combined purchases. For example, buying the first three Professor Layton Games brought you a neat collectors box to store the three games in. Or the recent offer for Smash Bros: Buying both versions gave you Mewtwo on both and the Soundtrack CD. Or, remonstrating a console and one of a set of specific games, gave you another one for free. I got Pikmin 3 for free that way, as well as some other games :D A Highlight for me was the selection of being one of the first to be able to purchase a New 3DS - the Ambassador Edition :3 It's still untouched and the highlight of my 3DS collection ^^ It was a great service, it's sad to see it go, but I'm very curious for what's coming after :D
Club Nintendo works different in Europe as you have stats instead of coins, and every game gaves you 250 stars but if it's an indie game, it only adds you 50 stars and cinsoles give you 1000 stars but the thing was that in the Wii/DS era was only attached to First Party Games but in the 3DS/WiiU era the cides were included with every game. That, and there were no gold/platinum status. But we also have the surveys. Oh, and we even had the option to purchase digital games with stars until recently. Greetings. P.S.: With my stars, I bought NES Remix 1 and Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga both for the WiiU.
Aleblasco77 Seriously?I live in Europe too, everything applies in my country expect the digital game thing. They were never available here. The one game that was,was a Game and Watch compilation for the DS (that was physical) and some digital Wii points.
I never had a bunch of coins. I did get Gold Status the first year I did Club Nintendo though because I had a bunch of games I hadn't registered codes for and I got that cute calendar you mentioned. I think this was a year or two ago. Then, when it was closing I didn't have enough coins for anything cool or anything I wanted, so I decided to give away a code for one of my favorite RPGs, Golden Sun. I really wanted more people to experience it and hopefully they'll enjoy it as much as I did.
I always get a bit annoyed when people complain about club Nintendo. It was FREE STUFF, Nintendo didn't have to do it. Anyway, my favourite item is the ALBW soundtrack cd
What happened with the SS poster happened with one of the Kirbys Epic Yarn patches. Kirby's eyes were inverted color (spoopy), so they sent me another fixed pack, and an exclusive Parasol Kirby patch. Good times.
My worst Club Nintendo memory is when I was a platinum member as a little kid (like 10 or something) when the Mario and friends statue came out and I got it, and then I gave it to a friend sometime later. Now he doesn't have it and it's gone ;_; But probably my best/weirdest experience with Club Nintendo was the Smash Bros soundtrack! I bought both versions, registered them immediately, and claimed my soundtrack. Then, when it was time to get it, I never did. It had been a few weeks and I hadn't received my soundtrack, so I kept calling Club Nintendo and they said they would only do this once, and they would send me a replacement soundtrack, and now I have it, safe and secure!
I got each of the platinum rewards. A Mario hat, a mario characters figurine in a block box, some mario pin buttons in a neat set, a set of translucent playing cards, the Majora's Mask soundtrack, digital copy of Dr. Luigi, and finally a digital copy of DKC Tropical Freeze. They had some awesome items I just wish we had the same selection that japan did
I remember wanting the Gold Nunchuk when it got announced seeing as I had the gold remote and classic controller pro. The thing is that it costed 1400 COINS. It was gone in 15 mins and once I had enough, they never re-stocked it. Good times.
I'm from Australia so I think that was apart of the Europe store, got a few cool posters, t-shirts some random things, was pretty nice. The last things I got was a Super Mario 3D world CD which had a extremely nice album cover and a really awesome Majora's mask light thing I scrounged all my remaining codes to get.
I just got Club Nintendo because of a deal with Mario Kart 8, & I didn't get much, but I got a 'Nintendo Consoles' them for my 3DS XL, Super Metriod, Super Mario World & Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. Well, that's what I did in a PAL region.
in europe, the last year was the only time stuff were actually worth getting besides the mario galaxy soundtrack, we didn't get coin statuses and we didn't even get digital downloads until 4 months ago, you werent really missing much
I'd use this service all the time, but I have one memory that haunts me to this day. So id never usually buy anything really, I tried to save up if Something cool came around. But other than that, I had a good stash. So one time I noticed a game and watch ball. And I wanted it so bad, so It took me a while, and I dug up all my old games, but I ended up scraping together the whopping 1,000 coins to get it and- It was Gone. The game and watch was gone. I don't know why. Maybe out of stock, but it was gone. I was super mad. I was really mad at the elite status rewards too. I had most of those games, and didn't wanna give up precious games to make space for something. I know you're staying "oh boo HOO poor kid with All his video games" but I was mad about it. They couldn't have done like, some of the older things they had, like maybe the figures or maybe some of the things from other countries club Nintendo systems. Other than those two moments I was pretty happy with it. They were free things, so I shouldn't complain, but I'm wondering if I'm the only person who acualy did the surveys.
I live in the UK and I got a Club Nintendo (Mainly signed up for the Smash CD) and I have restisgred all my Wii U/3DS but I don't have Stars left since I have used them on Nintendo Points & Duck Hunt for the VC.
don't worry dude, Europe had no idea about the toad figure either and were told months before to spend their stars or lose them forever. Everyone has spent their stars because of miscommunication. Anyone who did save them used them on the Majora's mask statue. No one has stars to buy the toad figure.
I remember earlier this year when the retail games were on Club Nintendo, I had to go searching all over my house because I was low on coins and lost all my codes. Also the physical games had a time limit to enter the codes. That was pretty dang annoying.
When the SSB4 Posters came out, my didn't come for 3 months. So, I called and asked them where they were. Then, a week later, they sent it fast and sent two sets. I was happy.
club nintendo had some great customer service...like the examples you gave were awesome my one and only platinum year was the year where i got playing cards...and they didnt get here after a month so i called them and the woman on the phone was very polite and rather than saying itll be there in a week no they actually used priorety mail to have it here either the very next day or within 48 hours...i forgot which
I remember club nintendo i never had alot of money to get games but tbh i enjoyed all the rewards i got like the only physical reward i got was the pikman totebag which i use alot for library books but i got a ton of virtual console games including majoras mask, mario kart 64, and other games i cant remember Goodbye club nintendo! So sad i didnt get to get alot of cool rewards from you but i loved the ones i did get
remember before they had club Nintendo and you wanted to sign up for the Nintendo site if you were under 13 you had to print out a sheet for your parents to fill and then mail it to them
Oh, you know nothing of repetitiveness. In that mad dash with all the cool stuff in the last few months, I realized a couple of my 3DS digital downloads weren't in my account. All of them were, actually. So I contacted customer support, they were super nice and there was some sort of issue connecting to my 3DS, it was a quick fix, but then I realized, there were over 40+ surveys I had to fill out before they expired, 10-25 questions each, and don't you even THINK about leaving those short answers blank! Not to mention their website was down three quarters of the time so it probably took me literal HOURS to get my all coins. But hey, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze is pretty nice.
Ah, I loved it so much. I remember getting the platinum reward once, my brother-in-law got the gold rank. The reward at the time was these Nintendo pins or whatever, which is what he wanted (but couldn't get because he wasn't platinum). I didn't want them, so, being the idiotic young idiot that I was, I just ordered the gold calendar without thinking that we could both order the highest one available to trade them later. Ah, good times.
I was pretty new to Club Nintendo, I signed up when I got my 3DS XL for Christmas two years ago, but didn't really use it much until Mid-August of last year when I got my Wii U, I mainly just used it to get some free games, except for the Smash Bros posters (which took forever to ship), I will miss Club Nintendo though, even though I barely used it.
I remember hearing about the Platinum reward for the Mario figurine and I signed up the next year. Unfortunately, that's when the platinum rewards diminished in value, but I still loved them. I filled out every single survey sharing all of my thoughts cause I thought it would eventually make their games better. It really was sad to see them go. Also I swear I have a pic of Wallid wearing that small Yoshi shirt from when he first got it. Strangely, I don't remember how I got that picture.... It was probably social media. Probably.
Club Nintendo NA had several failings, but I still liked it a lot, and I'll miss it. I didn't know it existed for a few years, because I just ignored the little club nintendo papers thinking they were ads or something. When I finally found out about the program, I had to fill out tons of surveys, it was a huge pain. I took the time to carefully fill them all out, because I felt like I was contributing. We never got the best rewards on Club Nintendo NA, but I was still pretty happy with the things I got. They didn't have to give us free stuff, so it was hard to be upset at the neat things we were getting, even if other regions got better stuff. I wasn't with the program the whole journey, but I'll miss it, just like I miss Nintendo Power. I've heard they are planning to make a new program though. Do you have any idea if you'll cover that once we get more info Balrog?
I got 2 golden nunchucks out of it, best thing ever. I wanted to the luigi statue, but it was out before I managed to score more points. I do hope they do more rewards along the likes of actual accessories that are limited edition.
I definitely joined Club Nintendo late. I think it was around the time they were giving out special demo codes for Smash 3DS. I eventually got to Platinum by February since I stockpiled all the boxes the games I had for 3DS and Wii U which could be considered a lot. Managed to get some cool rewards like the Smash CDs, Smash posters, Mewtwo, and Earthbound. I just hope the next reward service is better
Really? I always though it was the same as the Europe store because there codes worked for it. I never payed to much attention to it but by the end I got some cool t-shirts, posters, CDs and I was able to get that Majora's mask lamp...
I joined the program late and all I could get were some shoelaces and a lot of virtual console games which where neat. Hopefully the new program will have better rewards like the ones that Europe had.
I remember last year, they had almost no physical rewards at all, and unfortunately I put in the rest of the codes I had, because I could, and I had at least 500 coins over the amount needed for platnium. Then this year, I barely made it to platnium, I had to beg my friends to give me the codes to their games. That was a fun 2 weeks. I just got my zelda 3ds pouch, and I love it like the dickens.
My earliest memory of Club Nintendo was the free " feather/quill" stylus for registering Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. One of the cooler physical rewards in my opinion. I still have it and its box.
