Part 3 of 5 on the Philips 212 from hell. A more detailed explanation of the automatic shutoff adjustment is in Part 5.

I've contemplated picking one of these up cause they do look nice but after seeing you struggling with the overly complex design i'll be passing on these from now on.

There's a reason this turntable's design was not enduring :)

I have my Philips 212 up and running now and working good but still have one problem in that the cueing switch is not responding at all and so have to manually place the needle on the record. Any suggestions to troubleshoot? Thanks…

Unfortunately this repair took place long ago and I do not recall how that works. Downloading the service manual from vinylengine might help. I looked the exploded parts diagram over and I don't immediately see how that mechanism works.

Individual stocking , from bank robbery to fan belts, turntable and back. Used to listen to all my records on that "garbage" philips GA212 turntable. Loved it, and so many of my great memories with my father and friends, listening and talking on late evenings during the weekends. SaturdY and Sunday mornings listening to the greats. Very classy table in the 1970s. I wish I still had one. Dads long gone. I miss him terribly. My younger brother is looking into finding an older audio system, and recreating some of those nostalgic evenings. Your video is much appreciiated. I showed the video to my mother, shes 78 years old now, and it brightened up her day, and put a big smile on her face.

Glad you and your mom enjoyed the video. My first stereo was a Realistic STA-20 passed down from my dad to my brother and I. It was the whole setup…crappy Realistic (BSR) turntable, small ‘box’ cassette deck, and two RS bookshelf speakers. Great memories listening to the albums he gave us on that stereo.

Thanks for response and yes also have a badly melted gooey old belt to clean off. I thought got a great deal on this turntable as visually looks mint but has some internal repairs needed… your video is very informative..@@millervintagehifi3034
