The 8 is great! I think the only reason to get a 9 or 10 is the non-integrated lens and the front screen if youre gonna film yourself. Otherwise you wont notice a real difference.
Thank you for making this video! It was really well thought of. 😊 Although the hero 10 is great, i'll stick with my hero 8 for now and wait for hero 11.
I ran my HERO9 and HERO10 side by side on a dual mount with similar settings (5K30 on the H9 and 5.3K30 on the H10) and the battery drained at the same rate. The only differences occurred with higher frame rates, with 4K at 120fps consuming the most power, considerably reducing the run time. If you switched modes at all then that will have had a big effect, even running 5.3K at 60fps will have had a large effect. Regarding picture quality, look at the shot at 6:27. This is the type of shot that shows big differences between the H9 and H10. In my own tests of similar shots, the H10 produces much more detail in the grass areas, and on gravel paths etc than the H9. It's so different that even in compressed RU-vid footage it is visible. The compression system on the H10 seems much more efficient and better able to detail with fine detail such as blades of grass, foliage etc. And the noise levels are also vastly improved as well. Viewed on a 4K reference monitor, I can see very noticeable differences between the H9 and H10 in terms of fine detail reproduction. I've also noticed that skin tones are also much better on the H10 in my own tests.
@@stefpix If you run 4K/60 it's generally the same a the H9 in the same mode. 5.3K /60 is a different beast and will run the battery down more quickly (though not as fast as 4K/120). I did a river trip last weekend with the H10 running in 4K/60 SuperView and the battery lasted most of the trip. I wasn't running it constantly though.
@@simonwyndham what is nice about 5.3k is the 19 megapixel still grabs. Can be good for diving. How long does the battery last at 5.3k compared to 4k? Can’t swap batteries when the housing is wet.
the 240fps test at the end was interesting. It seems like the hero 10 doesn't exactly have more resolution, it is just less line skipping and less artefacts which is a much more pleasing image. I hate the digital look of high frame rates on older GoPros. Its almost making me want to buy one just for this alone
"All settings the same" unless you want to compare auto exposure correction, you should use manual settings, and set EVERITHING to fixed value - such as white balance to e.g 5600, shutter speed and ISO according to your scene... not auto. Appreciated the zoom for the resolution.
Why not in 4K? It is impossible to tell the difference in video quality with such low resolution and that's even more downgraded with RU-vid processing.
Just scooped a gopro hero 10 for $399 from the gopro website. Hopefully this new firmware update on November 16 fixes some issues it has before I get it
If someone start with gopro now. Its better to buy new gp 10 but if he has already gp 8 or 9 its expensive for update.. personaly i love my gp max for skiing or biking. I am not vloger and dont need hero model 😃🙂
I am new to action cam and I’ve never owned one before but I’m looking for my first Gopro considering my budget around 400 dollars, which one should I buy? Mainly will be used for water activities surfing, snorkeling and longboarding
Thinking about buying my first Gopro to mount on my mountainbike helmet.. the Hero 8 is available with warranty for $250 these days.. seems like a smart play?
The Most honest Comparison? Really? You talked Nothing about the Over Heating Problem with the Hero 10, which seems be quite a problem. It has been said by many, that at around 20 minutes of recording time, it over heats. That's a pretty big issue to leave out.
@steve g, it’s not. Gopro is not a studio camera, it’s action sports, means you take it outside where there is airflow. It’s reverse, those YT’ers mislead you without saying that disclaimer. It’s not a long form camera. If you shoot 60/120/240/480fps at 4K/5.3K, you can’t defy thermal physics. To get around this, use a power grip like Ulanzi BG-2/3/4 and you can relieve some heat from the internal battery. Maybe open the battery door. Since Gopro is waterproof, heat can’t escape and there’s no passive or active cooling built in. Use it in outdoor and in water and you should be fine. And shoot in 24/25/30 frame rates and you can go for awhile. I’ve got the 7/8/9/10 and they are fine. I’ve got the Insta360 cams and apply the same and they all don’t overheat unless you use it indoor and high frame rates as it wasn’t intended for. Maybe what Gopro should add is a high temp option like Sony does and now Canon R1 has that as well. It pushes the high temps from the processor but will degrade it over time. The overheating is just a safety measure to throttle or shutdown to protect the sensor and circuitry. Think of it like cars, it can go much faster than the speed limit but there’s safety issues involved. In this case, it’s protecting the sensor and components in the camera. This review was pretty honest and showed some flaws on the GP10 that like any camera will have bugs and take some time to iron out. Most of these brands try too hard to please their investors and/or consumers and need to come out with a new product each year. There’s not enough time to fine tune everything and usually takes months or years of firmware updates to have it cleaned up. Better to come out with a new product every 2-3yrs but not every company has that option. And since consumers keep buying but complain, these companies will keep coming out with unfinished products.
I'm a vlogger/dancer and I'm looking for a new camera. I'm think about getting a go pro because of how compact it is. Should I get a hero 9 or a hero 10 as a newcomer?
Todo bien pero no crees que es mala idea grabar te contra luz de la ventana ?!!!! No se pero creo que si pongas unas persianas negras te van a quedar de maravilla 👌🙂
The difference between 60fps and 120 when it comes to fluid images is almost the same, slow motion obviously will look better, however, like many people have been commenting here, we do not need 5K, it is simply harder to edit on most machines, and even if you wanna upload it to RU-vid, on most people's internet speeds and devices will not play smoothly, it is simply a waste of time. I used to be a GoPro super fan, until I had the marvellous experience of owning a DJI Osmo Action. Think about it, while GoPro has released the 7, the 8, 9 and 10... Dji releases ONE Osmo Action, that's it. If you've had the pleasure of owning anything DJI, you'll know that the quality and reliability are second to none. Dji's Osmo Action is still the best action camera on sale today, and at a lovely $190 usd, the best value for money.
@@thewalkingvloggingman7152 I was using the SanDisk card that came with the Hero 9. Lots of SD card errors and I even lost footage from an epic glacier hike in Iceland. I took someone's recommendation to switch to Samsung Evo cards so I tried that and haven't had a problem yet since I switched. I don't think it's every Hero 9 with this problem but there are many.
@Bleron Rrustemi, You can use a all weather cage like 3BR Powersports (they have for all the GP3-10) and waterproof power bank like Dark Energy Poseidon and you should be good. Or just use the Gopro USB pass-thru door if you have the GP9/10 with the Dark Poseidon power bank. There are other waterproof power banks but I haven’t tried them. Waterproof means iP68 rating and you can dunk it under water but not swim all day with it
Hi... Love from India ..Nice video...! I don't have go pro action camera but i have a plan to buy one Go pro..please suggest me best one - GP9 or GP10.. Which one is BEST?
i have a 9. and i see there is a 10. SHIT! but after seeing this i will say go for gopro 9. my point of from my point of view, there are some more background
I must say 8 is best. I just received 10 open today....and listen 10 reviews all over RU-vid I feel ghastly disappointed. I reasons bought 10 because of Linear + Horizon
I was a bit bummed out about getting the GoPro Hero 9 for Christmas until I watched your video. It looks as though GoPro made upgrades that are worth it, in some areas they actually slipped backwards. From your video, what I learned, is that the 9 is the logical choice unless someone gives you a 10 and it’s already in your hand. One item you should have mentioned and I’m sorry if you did is an obvious one, the difference in price. For a $100 U.S. dollars more you get the 10. Is it really worth the extra cost? Probably not as I have discovered. So, the other obvious question viewers want to know is, how does the GoPro compare to other cameras of the same (or close) type? Has Sony kept up with the competition? What about DJI or some of the Chinese knockoffs? I guess the question of, “what am I going to use this camera for” should be answered. The question of what can I use this camera for and is there a substitute to consider such as a cell phone camera. Also sending the video to a computer for processing is important to know. Editing using flat video mode would be interesting to tackle. Speaking of tackle, not football but fishing, is there a trick to the lens cover getting wet and developing water stains that might prevent it from happening? Thanks for the video!
@@thewalkingvloggingman7152 I wouldn't say it's trash, but you have a point, as much as I love it. You're right. I gotta open my coin purse 😂 Instead of looking for reasons to justify not upgrading, yet. Sounds like excuses waiting for a 1 inch sensor but the 10 is more than enough 🙏🏽💗 Thank you. What are you shooting with?
I haven't upgraded since the Hero 5. If I have a trip coming up in the spring and might buy the 9 or 10 on Black Friday, which one should I get? Also, the Hero 10 has overheating issues in no air movement shoots. I tend to use a GoPro in a sports or vacation setting. Should the overheating be an issue to consider?
but on 9 i hear front screen isnt really good tho hood thing to know if you plan to use it. to be exact has delay and such stuff maybe even stutter but im not sure i didnt search anything about it afterwards so you do if you wanna know for sure
No, why in the hell would they do that? They are trying to sell the new ones, then no one would buy the new cameras. And why would they upgrade old cameras with less features and detail as the 9 & 10? Stop being CHEAP and UPGRADE!!
@Spicy Gaming, I don’t have the GP10 in hand yet (on the way) but if you mean using the GP audio adapter, you should be able to use it like the GP9 with external audio but not sure if it needs a firmware update like what happened with GP9. Alternatively, I sometime use the MyK (paid version) to control the GP with my iphone via bluetooth. I can record it and see live view (a little laggy) and it records on the iphone or external audio (I use the Rode Wireless Go 1/2) and it makes sure the audio is not out of synch and give gps telemetry data. Lots of options if you know how to go around it.
