thank you for the tip on using a gopro charger from an old gopro to charge the 360 batteries instead of paying for a dedicated 360 charger... saved me money dude 👍💰
Awesome video!!! Lots of knowledge I just bought my own the other day and really wanna use it to the MAX lol new channel too so I really want to make great content
Been toying with the idea of getting one of these, I have a gopro hero 4 sessions but I'm not really in to tech so everything stays on sd cards. This video is pretty helpful & informative, thanks.
Thank you so much for these tips as I was wondering how to get rid of the seam line on my helmet. Not used voice command yet but I do plan on doing so soon. The noise reduction and 360 recording is amazing, cuts out 30mph direct wind but still picks up people talking very clearly. I will be using a lot of these tips for sure
I've been using my Max for 6 months now so I thought I knew everything but a great tip here about mounting on a helmet, more aerodynamic too :) Great Tips Vlog, well done guys
Robert J Kral thanks - I think it’s the telesin 2.7m - I have both and it is pretty much identical to the insta360 one x extended selfie stick - thanks for watching
Here's a tip for those who use the GoPro Max in Hero Mode with 'The Remote' -- You can toggle between each lens by holding down the wrench icon on the remote. Handy if you place your GoPro Max at one end of your kayak and don't want to have to get out to swap it around.

Truly love all of these tips and have viewed this video several times to learn as much as possible. One more tip I would like to see is about the best settings when using the Max in low light conditions? can you add these as well?
Hey guy's great video thank you , you mentioned your computer crashing, could you give some advice on what ram or whatever you need on a laptop to edit 360 videos, cheers, thanks 😊 rick
@@EatSleep360 I was looking to buy a 360 Cam for shooting real estate tours of homes and localities And sometimes shoot my bike rides Would you recommend the GoPro 360 for me ?
mumbaiproperties I would recommend the Max for bike rides but for property tours there are better cameras - check out the Qoocam or the theta z. More expensive but a much better option for tours.
@@EatSleep360 I'm a skydiver and I video teams and fun jumps and a few demos (on to beaches and others) and wanted the 360 for those occasions. You just made my life as a video guy (person for those P.C.) a whole lot easier.
Hi. Did you find out how to record 6 mic sorround sound? With any settings i get only stereo sound. Fusion is not problematic about sorround sound. Great to listen on headset and spin around 360 vr video. Especialy on misic event like concerts.
Steve Shellenberger - Lets Make Some Art thanks for commenting Steve - yes it was great to be working with Mic - hopefully we will work together again in the future.
Useful video, thanks! Quick Tip #21! If one uses a power bank with at least 1.5 amps, you can do a hot swap between batteries as well as not be concerned about losing power while streaming live events. During those, the 1 amp power banks do not provide enough juice to simultaneously power both the camera and stream the live event.
Thanks Steve, that’s good to know. I haven’t tried a live stream yet but I know with the one x the camera has to stay connected to the phone with a cable so you can’t charge the camera at the same time - is there a work around for this?
Awesome tips! One thing I did with my Max is to set the default video mode to 360. I was surprised for a 360 camera, that this wasn’t the default. Frustrating when I recorded something thinking it was 360, but was in Hero mode. Ugh...
@@EatSleep360 UPDATE: Finally got around to using the GoPro Max and was able to successfully test out 360 spatial audio. Still no way to export it using GoPro's lackluster PC app but I did find a solution to manually extract the 360 audio and then sync up in Adobe Premiere. Here's a test video with the step-by-step instructions in the video description. I'm sure it will help someone who sees this comment and looking to utilize spatial audio of this camera when filming in 360. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OaHI-Z5o7R0.html
Any idea of how to keyframe my 360 material in order to create a horizontal rotation (clockwise or counterclockwise of 360 degrees? Just as if I had a Hero 10 in my hand and turn around 360 degrees while filming. Whenever I try it, the result shows weird accelerations/retads when trespassing a keyframe .. Would love to actually avoid more than 2 keyframes for that purpose .. 🙋♂
If you set the anti flickering option to 60 Hz the Camera will record in 30 FPS instead of 25 which makes the videos a lot smoother. But make sure to set it back to 50 Hz for recording under artificial light conditions in 50 Hz countries. The image stabilisation does not work when you export the video into a folder with "special characters" like "ä" or "ü". Sounds odd but it is true. I had exported my Videos into a folder named "Frühling" (German for "spring") and the footage was unstabilised.
rickybobbytalladega thanks for your comment. Take a look at this video where I talk about why I’m keeping both ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yOuC_akVWRI.html Come Tuesday when insta360 unleashes it’s new toy things may change.
Mario Peña thanks for watching - this should be an easy question to answer but it’s not easy searching for the right mount. It’s so annoying that GoPro aren’t producing these. If you search for “joby pin joint mount” this should come up with the right one. Most that you see are curved and the joby one is straight. You do get one with the venture case and also the ulanzi case for the one x which is where I got mine from.
Hey guys I stumbled across one more thing. You can export higher than 5.6k by using the custom button on the max exporter. It is not upscaled it is truly exporting closer to the 6k that it recorded at
Great video since I just got my first GoPro.. the Max! You did not mention anything about the little clear lens protector that you can use while filming? Why? Are they no good?
@@EatSleep360 Hah Ha...That answers my question perfectly! Thanks. I'm gonna love the protectors, especially when I'm in the car or filming fish on the release! Thanks so much!
Héctor Manuel González thanks for your comment - in what way can’t you edit? Have you downloaded the clips from your camera first to the app using the download icon? Are you iOS or Android? Please give me more detail, thanks.
As an alternative to tip #12, I bought an aftermarket battery door for my Max and Hero 8. It has a hole for the charge port. That way you don't have to worry about your battery tray being exposed while you have a battery pack plugged in. Just search on amazon and you'll find some.
Tom S thanks for your comment, I haven’t got any inside knowledge but the fusion had 60fps and this (along with other things) has to happen to keep them in the game so my guess is this will come in the next 3 months. I know that doesn’t sound very reassuring but these things move slowly and i think there will be a big update which will address a lot of issues. or am I dreaming? 🤔 I hope not 😃
One thing I’d like to know, but I can’t find anything to answer. Is it possible to change the view whilst recording. What I want to do is record whilst walking then turn round to record my face.
I haven’t had issues with the Max overheating but haven’t tried it for real long records. If you take the battery out and only use the power bank this will help keep it cooler.
No Clip Mode... Hope you can help - I recently purchased a GoPro Max, it came up to date with its software, but I did check for updates just in case. I thought the clip mode feature would work well as I'm trying to capture cycling video from multiple cameras. Thus shorter clips would be easier to edit. However my camera does not have Clip Mode. When I click the edit icon it shows me Mode: with 360 greyed out. Nothing underneath except I think shutter. Did GoPro remove this feature? Its listed in the manual, but not with much detail.
@EatSleep360 Hi, Thanks for sharing the tips, I have a question, in your 20th tip, you are showing the clip menu, but In 360 video mode 'clip' mode is not available in my camera, I wish to take maximum 30 sec video in 360 mode. How can I enable it?
For the extended selfie stick shot it would have been the original telesin or the original insta360 extended sticks probably. I’m not sure of any other sticks they were using sorry.
Igor Stropnik thanks for the comment. I haven’t tested in depth or compared it to the hero 7 which I have. I’ve heard others say that the quality in hero mode isn’t as good as the hero 8. I suppose GoPro would lose sales if it was the other way round.
They have updated recently with slow motion but it’s a tiny update compared to what insta360 did last month - gopro take sooo long to to do update and solve problems
My dumbself recorded my first 360 video yesterday.... in hyper timelapse mode. So needless to say, that footage is junk. 40minutes of racing into 4minutes.
Normal that i have a loss of 20% of battery within 20 minutes? Thought this is a good battery in it. After 2 weeks of not using the battery is empty . Since weeks I have not used my Osmo pocket but still 60 per cent of battery
André Wiegner thanks for your comment - the Max should last around 1 hour so 20% loss after 20 minutes is actually good. If you take the battery out of the Max it’s less likely to go dead so quickly but unfortunately it will go flat after a while. Your Osmo pocket seems very good for battery.
Eat Sleep 360 oh I have seen somewhere in RU-vid that the person told it was two hours of use and he was astonished of this long time. So finally it’s not better than the batteries with Insta.
Eat Sleep 360 okay thx and when not using the cam means it is switched off .. Normal that the Cam discharge the battery by 50% since last Sunday? Never used it since then again
Desaster for Windows Users: I have a GoPro MAX .... if you are a Windows 10 user like me and may others, then you will expereince that the GoPro software is a Desaster. It has problems installing, throwing error numbers at you. Then you discover that 360 editing is not in the standard software but another software, that you need to buy from the Microsoft Store. This software continually crashes is also a Desaster. When you contact GoPro support ... they just ignore you. the GoPro Max us great, but dont think you are going to produce any 360 videos with it on Windows 10!
Chris Bentley WireUp yes I have windows 10 but use premiere which is really good with the Max but not cheap. They are working on a desktop editor but they take too long to develop the software, it’s a shame as the max has so much potential. Thanks for watching.
