The only man in the band is Damon Albarn, who, on occasion, has a few people featured on the songs. The animator is Jamie Hewlett, the animator and creative story man of the group. If you ever heard Song 2 from blur, that’s Damon Albarn, so that may be familiar. Gorillaz always kept a dark edged story in the timeline to compliment the music, in which as you can hear is completely outside the Box.

The lead singer is the frontman for Blur. Another member is the writer for the comic strip for Tank Girl. The first drummer is Danger Mouse who formed Gnarls Barkley with Cee Lo Green. The rap group De La Soul is featured on this song and is in this video.

He’s not saying *doo doo* btw, he’s saying *feel good* under his breath, it’s kinda inaudible though, so I don’t blame you.

These guys are what is known as a virtual band. Animated personas only. The concept is to focus on the music and NOT the people. Just raw talent. And i think it is genius. These folks don't have to EVER worry about paparazzi. Daft punk and deadmau5 are a couple more that lretty much do the same thing.

Oh MAN! When I got the notification and read that you were reacting to my favorite band I just had to watch. This was one of the very first songs I listened to by them (it belongs to their first album I think) and got the cd from my Pops. you asked what genre they play but the answer is...all of them! Gorillaz doesn’t settle for just one thing and they tend to bring in and work with other artists (like Snoop being in their Plastic Beach album) speaking of art these figures in the video ARE the band lol. Although the creators/writers of the Gorillaz have on multiple occasions have “sort of” broken the 4th wall by making Skits where Murdoc (green skinned man with the Bass) gets the band ready to play on stage only to be blocked by the “real band” showing up and taking their place XD

Between them they created the fictional 'virtual band' - Gorillaz. The members of whom you see performing the songs in the videos. Most of their tracks feature guest artists too and sometimes they're given their own character animation. Both creators had major success before working on this project. Albarn was the lead singer and songwriter with the band Blur, especially famous during the 'Britpop' years and for their rivalry with Oasis. They were extremely popular, particularly in Europe and had a string of hits, as well as 6 consecutive number 1 albums in the UK. Hewlett co-created 'Tank Girl' in both comic and graphic novel form. It became a worldwide cult hit and Hollywood even made it into a film, which went on to achieve cult status itself.

Cool and all, but a word to the wise when you've got your headphones on you are really shouting.. like literally *SHOUTING* so loudly that I have to turn my headphones or speakers down because it hurts when you shout. We can hear you perfectly well, your microphone is sensitive, just talk quietly and we can hear you perfectly even over the music.

Fantastic review! The lead singer is Damon Albarn. He was the co/writer and singer for a FANTASTIC band called BLUR. Blur and Oasis were rivals in the late '90/2000's. Blur was a much better band IMO. They were unafraid to transform their music into many different genres. Blur could make you feel on top of the world, funny, ambient, sadness, psychedelic, and just overall awesome in nearly every way. Please research BLUR. I have a couple of Blur suggestions to start you out with. * Out Of Time" "Sing" "Coffee And TV" All of those songs have a different feel. (There's dozens more!).

ok, so since no one has answered your question, this band is similar to Hatsune Miku (if you have ever heard of her). BASICALLY, that is how the group looks....animated....and all their voices are well.....made in a computer....look it up, it's kinda hard to fathom if you've never heard of it but i'm serious that they are all characters made in a computer Edit: also, they don't technically fall under any particular genre. they have done many different styles but they are well known for their songs that include other singers and their main brand style (they've done a song with snoop dog at one point, as an example)
