As far as kick pedal tension, most extreme metal drummers use as much tension as possible. I use trick pedals similiar to Tomas' maxed out on tension. Takes a sec to get used to, but for fast tempos its a godsend, your kick pedals are harder to start moving but easier to keep moving. It's a bit like using heavier sticks, that momentum helps out in a way you might not expect intuitively.
@krusher74
@krusher74 3 месяца назад
I play pop and funk mosty, and have ended up using Danny carey stick (2B) that weight/momentum one you get it moving helps you out.
@i.r.drummer
@i.r.drummer 3 года назад
I believe he’s using Trick Bigfoot pedals. The best part about that song is that if you took everything out except his hands, it’s the most basic 4/4 groove. The pattern he’s playing on his feet is called a herta, and if you go back and listen again, the pattern are slightly modified every time he comes back around to it. Also, if you’re constantly laying into open hi-hat grooves, not having your arm across your body is key. I honestly think his left hi-hat is only for keeping time. He had opened and closed hats on the right side and he doesn’t employ hi-hat “hops” on anything I can recall.
@R...-...R
@R...-...R 3 года назад
And the rim shot is on beat 3, that's also why the time signature seems weird.
@GhostDrummer
@GhostDrummer 3 года назад
I play open, lefty on a righty, and I’m able to play beats and rhythms that I couldn’t play if my arms were crossed. It’s a very valuable tool.

Bleed is about what it is to experience an aneurism. That's why there's the constant droning, the sudden complete silence, the thumping like an accelerated heartbeat, etc. Besides being a fantastic show and orchestration of drumming, guitar and bass, it approaches its subject matter very well too.

Search Dick Lovgren and Tomas Haake drum and bass sessions. They are in sync every song all the time. Also for this type of music the tighter the spring tension the better. Gotta build up them cavs bc having them that tight is a struggle at first from the resistance but once it becomes your norm and your legs start building up that strength it’s a different ball game. Stoked to see you stoked on this man 🤘🏻🙌🏻

And your knowledge of the various kits, setups, cymbals, and techniques makes you stand out from many other "drummer reacts" channels. If I had a recommendation as to a drummer to check out soon, it would be Joey Baca from The Contortionist.
