I love how the names Karen and Mike are also used in the original Haunted Mansion story recorded around the 60's for the mansions opening. Whoever wrote this story is very much so a Disney enthusiast.

I've grown a huge fondness for Disneyland creepypasta.

Love Disneyland creepypasta. Makes the most "Magical Place on Earth" seem like the most "Horrific Place in Hell"! I went to Disneyland for my Grad Night, but it was in 1999. I remember going on the Haunted Mansion with my buddies and the ride shut down on us, both going pitch black while the music and creepy noises played, then the lights went on, but without the music and voice over (yet the creepy noises still played), all while sitting in a stalled buggy with things popping out around us.

The fact that the "Hatbox Ghost" has returned to DisneyLand's Haunted Mansion is just (in a weird way) amazing, especially after reading this story... Anyone agree with me?

The names "Mike" and "Karen" are featured in the 1969 Haunted Mansion album I had as a kid. Ron Howard voiced Mike. I wonder if the author chose these on purpose.

It's hilarious because the Hatbox ghost was restored in 2015 traumatising kids the world over.

Good news on the film front. The new official haunted mansion movie from Disney has started filming with director guillermo del toro

"My friends Mike and Karen..." I se what the author did there. For those who don't know, there was a record for the Haunted Mansion made for the ride's opening; it was a detailed story that matched the order of scenes of the ride and the main characters who visited the mansion were named Mike and Karen.

The Haunted Mansion is my favorite ride at the Disney Parks, hands down. Whoever wrote this pasta is definitely a massive Mansionite, from the whole focus on the Hatbox Ghost to subtle details like naming the friends Mike and Karen (such a subtle reference right there). Very well done pasta, gives me another reason to love that ride even more

The story about the two teenagers sneaking into a boat by Tom Sawyer's island is actually true. Basically the only times people have ever died at Disneyland it was the guest's fault. Follow the rules and you'll be safe. Yes, there have been freak accidents, but those could happen anywhere.

See, this is why I just go to Sea World. Nothing bad ever happens in Sea World.

Grad Night at Disneyland was really fun when i went lol i remember some areas would get really lonely you wouldn't even see the janitors/employes walking around it was creepy as fuck when you walk around and it felt like someone was going to pop out and scare you or something like that

Terrifying story and well told, very well done. Nevertheless, I question the story since this is not the only Haunted Mansion in the world. Disney has a few copies in the world such as Tokyo and Hong Kong has even its own "Mystic Manor. And as a European, I am only familiar with Phantom Manor, a much more darker version of the Haunted mansion. Are there also skeletons in the closet or is it just in Walt's original, The Phantom' who is laughing at you when he slowly drags the visitors/doombuggy's into hell... is missing for months despite being very important in the story along with his missing demonic dog next to him that threaten the visitors...the dog is missing for years now. Why not recover immediately, why so many months ... more than a year delay. Phantom manor did not exist during the period of Walt and can have no knowledge of any dark practices from him. But still, very good story.

I've been on the haunted mansion before at night too. It wasn't so bad. The ghosts are quite kind and I'd party with them any afterlife.

I remember going on the Haunted Mansion at Disneyworld with my mom, I leaned forward and knocked on the back of the Doom Buggy in front of us and scared the shit out of three teenage girls who were riding in it, made me laugh :)

The doom buggies just loop, I took a ride with a handicapped friend and we had to wait through the whole rotation to go back to boarding and leave through a secondary exit. Sorry for ruining the story.

i went backstage on the haunted mansion ride and i went where the carts go when they arent bein used and i got stuck and i went down into a door and i heard noises in the hall and i walked around and all the doors were locked and i found one door was locked and i went into that room and i saw a ghost but it wasnt a ghost it was a not ghost from the ride and then i heard a noise and i got scared and the lights went out and then a green light came on and i turned around and i looked at my kingdom i was finally there to sit on my throne as the prince of bel-aire

I went to disneyland for the first (and so far only) time last April for a band trip. I went on Haunted Mansion and kept thinking about this story the whole time. It was so much fun and I'm dying to go again

This cant be any more unbelieveable if you tried to make it so. i am a butler at Disneylands Haunted mansion. first off, there is no space under the exit ramp because the belt makes the shape of an hourglass about ten feet below it which can be seen by entering a door back stage. secondly, the attraction wont run for more than 1 minute without the unload console activated. thirdly, if you stayed in the buggies past the exit ramp, you would make a u-turn to your right, go straight for maybe 20 feet and then curve down to the left approaching the load area. no door. no staircase down. no utilidoor. the utilidoors are in the magic kingdom in orlando florida and you can find maps of its simplicity on google images. i couldnt stop laughing and face palming. i only listened halfway. oh and by the way, every half hour, the castmembers rotate positions. and the hatbox ghost is in a storage building backstage somewhere. yeah, no thanks.
