29:25 "Derp." I was like WTF? But then I saw the derp/mistake. The player had a power-up force field ready to use. But he died without using the power-up. Making it a waste.
I started playing Parodius games with manual powerup and roulette on, it definitely kicks the difficulty way up when you aren't used to and know where the roulette capsules are (Jikkyou has those pillow though, those are easy to identify)..
I do enjoy fiddling with the power meter sometimes. Putting options closer to the front makes recovery much easier, especially later on in the game. Most of the time though I prefer the normal original Gradius style, much like choosing to play Gradius 5 with checkpoints, even if it does increase the difficulty greatly.
I keep my power meter optimized with option 2nd and missile 3rd, then laser, double and force field. Sometimes I think I should push laser and double back and slip force field into the 4th slot on the meter. The default meter is the normal Gradius way, but the game gives me that option to customize, and I take advantage of that.
