For those who wanted to know I built the car myself, the interior fiberglass came from Marks Custom Kits (out of the mold). The 5 main electronic boards in the dash and the LED display in the lower console came from Jupiter Electronics, the other display boards (upper console) and pods I made myself. I sold the car some time ago and have built 2 other replicas for other people since then. I now have a 89 Formula that I plan to convert as soon as I get the time.
The window controller is a DEI 530T, you can find them on Ebay for about $50. Most alarms will work with this window controller as for the engine starting system I designed and built that myself.
Awesome KITT replica!!! You have truly outdone yourself... I would love to have one just like it someday and I too am in California so if you ever want to sell it....
You can always have the car shipped after it's built. You might want to check the prices for shipping a car to your location first. The nearest shipping port from me is Sacramento, Ca.
Awesome job on the car. looks great though it needs the classic bowling bowl wheels / hubcaps to truly complete it to it's classic exterior look. I love the scanner, though when you have the fog lamps on it seems to show up a bit behind the scanner light, I'm sure something could be put there to better black out the scanner light from the reflection of the fog lamps. Anyway, great job, two thumbs up, if I had the spare cash I'd love to make one myself.
The steering column came from an 84 Camaro with digital dash (rare), this is a great column for a KITT replica due to the fact that it has electronic turn signal cancel and has a nice clean look because this column was not built with a turn signal lever, it only came with the tilt lever. I does however take some custom wiring and a couple relays to make it work.
I remember those rare columns. I believe I had to to some repairs to one of those turn signal systems back in the day, but I believe it was on a different GM model. May have been a Fiero, or Buick. Can't remember.
Yeah, KITT's missing the turbo cast rims with the bowling ball hubcaps riding on them. Other than, it's Great looking! The monitor is BIG like that because it's a 4th season dash. KITT's dash in the TV show was big like that in the 3rd & 4th season. The 1st & 2nd season dash had the 2 TVs...remember?, am i re-freshing your memory? lol =) My fav. season KITT was 4th season, with the 1 TV dash like this guy has....simply because of the Green lighted gas pedal. That part on KITT was cool!
That is one amazing replica!! I love the screen that's in there. It looks much nicer. That dash is fantastic. The exterior looks really good as well. All you need is some Turbocast rims and bowling ball hubcaps. Who made your dash and electronics?
awesome hey brother where do u go to install the dash and all electronics and the custom outside the carr did u did it by ur self or u buy the gear and send it to a place to be esamble?
Hello, It has the original Pontiac 305 motor and I never tested it for it's top speed, When I got the car the only plan I had for it was to make a replica of KITT.
I made the switchpods myself but you can get some that look the same from jupitere(dot)com the turn signals required replacing the steering column with a column from a 84 camaro with a digital dash, it has an electrical turn signal cancel switch inside the column which I used to wire to the turn signals.
WOW! That's all I had to say. Well, not really, omg, I hadn't seen anything quite awesome and that is a true replica, of KITT, WOW! Oh and one more thing, how much money did go into this? I would like to know, but if you wouldn't say, than that's ok, I understand, but WOW again. It's just great!
Wow , very good Job ! Your replica looks perfekt !Only the rims was not original ! I built a Replica too , i built a A-Team Van Replica they have not so much Electric like KITT ! have much fun with your Replica ! Greetings sends Mike from Germany !
Hi, I am one big fan of Night Rider and you did a Great Job on the K.I.T.T Replica. I have always wanted a Trans Am and make a Kitt replica, but I am not as smart as you guys out there doing this. But I guess I better stop wishing because I know it will never come true. Anyway You did a great job on this. one more thing, how much are these kinda cars worth if someone sold a kitt replica.
Beautiful car ...... I'm from Brazil and would like to know if you like having a kit of those here .... can be mounted on a 1985 pontiac trans am?? Watch all episodes of the series ... and it would be great to have such a car .... .... thank you and congratulations for the car .....
No that Teacher guy from Boy Meets World did it. Although, kasey kasem woulda done a good job, but then hanna barbera coulda done knight rider and shaggy coulda played michael knight as well.
awesome replica, lol too many buttons for me though, i thought it was cool that you actually had functions for the buttons, most kitt replicas don't even use the buttons.
