Nice to hear.. can I ask, so you get many comments on it. I'm on the waitlist for a Sub, I love this watch but I'm worried i get sick of trying to explain hiw good it is and who GS are etc
Wow, what a beautiful watch! I just bought my first GS, I managed to find a SBGE263 Eagle 🦅 US Limited Edition of only 110 pieces. I am. SSSOOOOOO excited 😁😎
What an extremely elegant timepiece. I disagree that the power reserve and the date make it too busy. I like the 4 O'Clock position of the date, and quite happy with its functionality. Also really glad the date doesn't have a magnification as I really dislike that. Thank you for the informative review, I can't wait to test drive one.
Great review and watch but I'm confused, Tim Mosso's review says it's 14.6mm thick and 48.5mm lug to lug but if you included the endlinks it's a whopping 50.7mm? If that's true, then GS still hasn't worked out the sizing kinks IMHO...
Now we are talking. This is exceptional. Not perfect by any means, but getting there. I feel I would have to get a loupe attached to my eye just do I could examine the dial and hands all the time.
If you are beyond the point of having something for name recognition and want something that is actually "crafted" , GS is above and beyond any Rolex. Rolex does make iconic designs and are robust and has its merits. However, if not in denial, GS takes the cakes in technology and craftsmanship. However, too many GS has the ever annoying power reserve indicator and would do much better without it. As of current, GS is still a niche brand but it won't be long until the masses know about its superiority. Remember. Omega was the brand before Rolex overtook it and matter of time, GS overtakes Rolex esp. With the artifical inflation and limited supply.
Oscar Martinez (. Argentina )
It’s not even guys with smaller wrists. Mine is about 7.5” and I don’t want a 44mm watch. It’s just too big! 40mm is absolutely perfect. I agree, I’d love this case for a diver.
As long as Rolex sits back and conducts business as usual GS will make a big dent. I think for guys 60 and older with the cash Rolex will retain those customers. But the younger up and coming watch guys GS will take over!
The elephant in the room for Grand Seiko is the word "Seiko". Your average person on the street views Seiko as a relatively inexpensive but reasonably quality watch. However they won't spend several thousand Pounds, Dollars, etc to buy one. And the same person will likely view Grand Seiko as being just another Seiko. Its a bit like Lexus and Toyota. Toyota a good quality reliable reasonably priced vehicle but to go upmarket they have the Lexus brand and not Grand Toyota. So yes Grand Seiko can compete on quality of their watches but their name will always be a issue for your average person on the street looking to buy an expensive watch.
Their watches, cases, movements are brilliant. The dress watches were too small and the sport watches were too big, and their straps and bracelets... rubbish. I've been in love with this brand for years and yet I never pull the trigger when it comes to making a purchase. The final touch (and what touches the wrist) are well behind the quality of the watch itself. A small item perhaps, but for this kind of money I want the WHOLE package.
GS has done all the hard work, all they need to do is refine the issues people are not happy with. I'am still waiting for the day GS produces the snowflake in steel.
D They should add frame on date like in automatic or no date. Better clasp with microajustment and 1mm thiner and its number one best gmt watch ever i that price segment.
@@germandbahn yes heard that one before, I just find it very suspicious with the Grand Seiko. Its a little like when the Oris aquis caliber 400 came out. Someone is pushing behinds the scenes, I bet he is japanese 😄⌚
I really like GS! But... it is not overtaking or even close to Rolex. Build quality, movements, etc... doesn't matter when comparing. Rolex has morphed into a brand like no other. There are other watchmakers that put out a better product, all of them put together don't have the brand recognition like Rolex. And it's that brand recognition that distances Rolex from everyone else.
They haven’t got a chance of dethroning the five fingered crown 👑. Great watch, but terribly let down by their bracelets. I owned the SLA 017 reissue, a lovely watch yet the bezel miss alignment, was enough for me to say sorry, so ended up selling it! Maybe I’ll dive in again in the future, but will only buy on site, not via the internet...
@@willielarsson9651 Not so many comments from normal guys. But real watch guys love it when they see it. But i get most comment on my SBGK005 than all my other GS under $10000
Decreasing the diameter is one step. Can they go thinner with the SD, I'm no GS expert? I see that being an issue. Date window is poorly executed. Power reserve indicator needs to go on the back.
The power reserve meter is ugly, unnecessary and leaves no room for anything else. If they scrapped that and put the date window at 3 this would have been perfect
For those of us with large wrists I wish this was 42mm. I have 8 inch wrists and 42mm is the perfect size for a sports watch, 40mm for dress watch. My wrists even make a 45mm planet ocean look small.
I love this watch. My biggest issue is whether to choose the black or blue. I love sunburst blue dials in general but I already have a blue Tudor black bay 58 (matte blue). With no black sports watch I wonder if I should go for this or the sbge253. I also disagree with the date window. Most GMT watches have the date window. I also like the power reserve indicator as the days are clearly indicated and the polished hand is gorgeous
I'm still waiting for the FW91 review with close ups and glowing review. Let me pretend I can buy a grail now. Explain about the resin polishing and multiple features and horological history.
Love the spring drive. Hate that they mess up the dials with the power complication. I sold my Sgbv225 because it just wasn't very good. Mediocre bracket, crap clasp. They're still not in the Rolex league. I got my Explorer after selling my GS and never looked back. GS make some cool watches, but always seem to take a couple of steps in the wrong direction to mess it up. Like crappy bracelets, unnecessary complications and poor size choices.
