The Colors of the sunset on ps2 is quite unique. This reason alone makes me prefer the ps2 even with worse frame rate and less polygons. Is very playable for me and that’s enough

really a pity that no GTA was released on the Gamecube. In my opinion that was one of the main reasons why the Cube didn't sell so well in the end. Would have liked to see what GTA would have looked like on the Cube.

I really prefer the Xbox version (got some better textures, models, etc), but I can't believe they've realeased with those bugged palm trees... They're a classic element from Vice City, they could let the PS2 models/textures instead of that crap...

while the xbox version has a more stable framerate and s bit sharper image, the ps2 version hs more details like the more realistic palm trees and the ocean

The trilogy will always be better on PlayStation 2. GTA 3 to San Andreas were pretty much designed for PlayStation. Xbox had better resolutions though.

Nothing like the original version, PS2 wins! Despite the years and the low resolution, PS2 is still the best platform to play the classic trilogy.

Lot of nostalgia bias in the comments. I grew up with a ps2 and the gta trilogy. The best version of said trilogy at least on console is definitely the original Xbox versions. The original Xbox was a beast and nearly every single big multiplatform game looked better and ran smoother on it. Half the ps2s library only did 480i ffs

a few years ago i decided to play the 3 ps2 versions of the GTA games back to back, for what i remember GTA III runs fine but i noticed that VC looked blurier and the frame was worse, what shocked me is that SA runs better than VC despite being a bigger game with this comparison now i can see that by design VC had this blur effect, probably to simulate heat or something based on the setting the game take place, after watching this comparison i think the XBOX version is better at least visually, it loads faster and had better textures in buildings, cars and the water looks better IMO, the blur is still there but the better resolution make it less annoying to watch.

The Xbox version seem to use higher resolution rendering than the Ps2. I think the Ps2 version is actually rendering at 512x448 but scaling from that to 640x448. The Xbox version seems to be 640x480 straight. Aside from that the Ps2 version seems to have better detail in distant foliage and palm trees. Texture wise they look very similar with the Xbox version having some better textures here and there, but the Ps2 version seems to have more detailed water textures.

I’ll always pick the PS2 version any day of the week, since the game was designed for that system. The Xbox version is fine, but I found it to be more of a lazy port than anything else. Not only does it look largely identical to the PS2 version (even worse than the PS2 version in some spots), but it fails to take advantage of the Xbox’s stronger capabilities. Graphically, both versions aren’t particularly impressive by any means, but if Vice City was built for Xbox from the ground up (almost happened with its predecessor), it could have looked a lot better than what were seeing here, but since the Xbox version is just a lazy port of the PS2 build, it doesn’t look much different. If anything, it looks even worse. Also, there are some differences to take note on. For instance, there’s glitches and tricks on PS2 that were patched in the Xbox version, and there may be some content differences like the removal of the tear gas weapon, as well as changes to the dialogue, sound effects, weapon names, etc. These changes apply to both versions so it depends on the version you have. If you ask me, the original release of Vice City for PS2 is the definitive version because you get to use the tear gas and you won’t have to worry about the fixed glitches and tricks and the content differences. Obviously, this version doesn’t exist for Xbox since it was released much later than the original PS2 version.

In theory Xbox may have better car models and hands compared to the PS2, however there is a few flaws with the Xbox version. The main problem is that the Xbox version its based on the pc port of Vice city which has a lot stuff missing from the PS2. In the xbox verison the newspaper on the floor on has zombie Elvis, I recommend you watch Vadim M PS2 vs PC for my examples.

PS2 and OG Xbox have GTA Vice City's atmospheric display so leave it in the customization area

Vice City's Xbox version is the real definitive edition.

All three GTA run the best on Xbox The graphics are also better. Only the PS2 version did better is the voices of pedestrians and how loud they were. In the Xbox versions u can barley hear pedestrians and Tommy vercetti rarely talks in the Xbox version

I have the PS4 and I have the PS2 backwards compatible of the game and it's terrible I don't have it for the PS2 console back when it came out so I don't know what it looks like on it but I do have the Xbox version and it looks great

Till this day, I tell dudes that historically, xbox always has a better system than Playstation. They just never got the games PS has. Anything multiplatform though was guaranteed to be better for Xbox.
