And brings a tear to my eye. I grew up watching these beautiful idiot's, i was devastated when i heard about clarkson leaving, and all these years later i still ball up inside when i watch that first episode of GT.
This scene is amazing. I was mad at clarkson , and still am, for being a bad person and punching someone and ruining something great. It was never the same, but this scene is amazing
That scene where the trio are going through a field of cars is in my opinion one of the most iconic moment in TV history. A lot of motoring enthusiasts nowadays, especially young ones are motoring enthusiasts because of the trio. It's like a mother goose flying through a flock of her sons and daughters. Absolutely spectacular.
*Some say "The Three Wise Men" still send the Stig a postcard, a letter, a fax or even an email to him on how they're doing, what is going on with them and the Grand Tour and they constantly say, "Come out and see us, we miss you Stig! It would be good to hit the track and burn some rubber! Just like old times." That scene when May and Hammond pulled up next to Jeremy brought a tear to my eye. Also heart warming was how many of the old Top Gear crew i.e. Cameramen and Camera menwoman, sound recordists etc went as well. Not to mention the man himself, Andy Wilman.

The greatest opening to any car show ever. Taking into consideration the history and the lads' affinity for one another. No other car show will ever have as much of an impact as this opening scene. If you can watch this and not get emotional knowing what happened, you're not a true car fan.
I think you guys are entirely too biased. Chris Harris is actually a better motor journalist and a better driver than any of the original 3.. And this is coming from someone who has watched Top Gear when it aired live since season 9.. They just need to find 2 more people that can actually drive. Freddy Flintoff and Paddy arent too bad.. They should have chosen Chris Harris / Tanner Foust / Sabine Schmitz as the main 3.. Having 3 skilled drivers in a show about driving cars would be nice.
Just a reminder but after Clarkson had left, the BBC offered Hammond and May huge amounts of money to stay but they declined and chose to run with Clarkson. Now that's friendship
With the announcement that we only have one more GT left before the trio hangs up their hats, it is worth mentioning that when this show (and top gear by extension) at its best, is not just a car show. It's a show about people and their relationship with automotive machines. Cars can amazingly be whatever you want them to be. Be it a tool, a hobby, a life saving transport or an outlet for expression. This intro sums that up without saying a single word.
This opening always made me cry. The friendship between these three were so precious that they became the real reason why Top Gear was the best show .... in the world. When James and Hammond would left BBC to follow Clarkson, it was a beginning of the end for TG, nothing will ever be the same anymore. The three would go on a new adventure. They would call it......The Grand Tour!!!

That moment the BBC made a huge mistake sacking clarkson made me cry and smile the part that made me cry is seeing clarkson depressed that he is fired But yea seeing hammond and James may definitely made me happy regardless of there argument and disagreements they act like friends or mates who's sort of hate each other but stick together like 3 flys on shit lol
When Hammond & May turn up behind Clarkson & Clarkson's face literally beams with happiness is one of the best moments ever seen on television. U just know that's true friendship right there
The moment they reunited was really nice, the BBC thought they had one over on Clarkson, until Hammond and May left to join him. The best thing that could have happened did happen and let's just take a moment to bless Amazon for keeping it alive.
The BBC couldn't afford Clarkson after this Amazon could afford him twice and keep the show going forever if they could these old trio will have the greatest send off

I showed this to a friend whose husband had been diagnosed with cancer. They needed something to watch while he went through radiation and chemo treatments. She was immediately hooked and they watched everything several times before he passed. They liked the cinematography and the fun the three had while shooting the show. He passed last year in 2023.
Even with the show being boiled down to just a couple specials every year, the last three seasons have been some of the best television I've ever watched.
30 people from BBC disliked this video. The great thing about the Grand Tour is that it's not just these 3 who left, they took the producers and camera crew with them as well. BBC be like, that escalated quickly.
Not only did James and Richard quit the BBC and follow Jeremy, but also most of the production team. I love that. This scene put tears in my eyes. I remember watching the first episode and I got emotional. My girlfriend at the time asked me why I was emotional and I told her I had watched these 3 men do their show(s) ever since I was a kid. I had grown up on Top Gear, Manlab, Brainiac, Engineering connections, James May's 20th century, Oz and James big wine adventure 1 & 2 and Jeremy Clarkson's Motorworld, Car years, Inventions that changed the world. Everything these 3 men touch, turns into gold.
BBC made a big mistake Grand tour is so much better that the new top gear (im sure everyone will agree) And if i may say Even better than the old top gear There is just somthing about amazon gt that the BBC never had

@@Dave534 Hi. But at the end of the day, The new top gear in my opinion is a failure. It doesn't have that excitement and joy the previous seasons of top gear had. But what can you expect from the bbc who had to find replacements. The replacements are uninspiring. The show would of stood a better chance of ratings if they got Rowan Atkinson to be a presenter.

This opening was so awesome it made a grown man tear up. Jeremy, Richard and James are actual friends for over 20 years and the fact they quit the moment Jeremy was fired shows their true friendship. So to see the boys reunited and back in such a heartfelt way was just beautiful.
He wasn't fired. Apparently he was going to be, but that would have left them open to an employment tribunal that would have been a mess. That's why they chose not to renew his contract and paid him the remainder of his term as scheduled
Jeremy's reaction seeing his friends join him and then James and Richards smiles to Jeremy made me tear up and cry and also just everything about this first episode intro was amazing. Good job Amazon

It's 2020 and this intro is still better than anything Top Gear has done since Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond left. I agree with many that have said it, that two minute mark still gets me every time.
We all are car entusiasts, doesn't matter your skin color, your creed, where you from or if you are guy or gal. it only matters that same taste for gasoline burning and listening to your car running, seeing other people projects (there's everything for everybody's tastes), I cry tears of joy watching this video! isn't only about one type of car.. in the desert part you can see hot rods, 4x4, motorcycles, exotic cars, it doesn't matter.. it's like a great family around the globe together because we all love cars! Fun fact when Clarkson was coming down the highway he didn’t actually know James and Richard would be there he knew they were doing a show but that is a genuine reaction from Clarkson as this was the first time he had seen them since he got fired
Season 22 was the last season and the end of top gear Now grand tour carrys it's own legacy but still holds strong and still has the familiarness of top gear
Personally I think they are better on Amazon they have the freedom to make jokes they don’t have to censor themselves because the the BBC’s ridiculous political correctness

Looking back from a nostalgic POV I wished the trio was still on BBC but I respect Amazon on the fact that they really appreciate the talent Clarkson Hammond and May bring to the table unlike BBC
still one of the best openings out there in my opinion, especially for their return, shows that they needed a grand opening to bring our beloved british men to return to television
There's something iconic about seeing 3 cars driving on a beautiful road, the moment you see it you already know it's them. I have to admit I teared up a bit when I saw James and Richard unfold behind Jeremy's car, after hearing about the end of Top Gear I feared I'd never see that scene again, it was heart warming.
