Great egret spiritual meaning
Two pure white, large great egret birds flew over our house and landed behind us in the farmland. I grabbed my camera and to my surprise they were in the same place where I filmed the great blue heron with the big one that got away video and right above them is the new buzzard nest from the two large birds of prey! Very interesting. So I dug deeper into the meaning of these beautiful, majestic birds, know as the silver heron (grote zilverreiger) in Dutch and aka the white heron in English.
Accepting Jesus Christ as my saviour and Son of God, I of course first looked up the Biblical view on the great white egrets :
“In Christianity, the egrets, just like the herons, are symbolic of longevity. These birds can survive in the wilderness even up to 22 years, which is quite difficult for most waterbirds.
Additionally, these birds are also known to represent good fortune and prosperity. The Christians believe that because of their long-suffering nature, egrets are also symbolic of gratitude and contentment.
Lastly, because all egret species generally have white plumage, they also symbolize piety."

Amazing. Everything is from and for God. So the meaning or message for you, could be something completely different. Don’t forget that. It’s always a personal message, or often at least, is my feeling.
Great egrets like many herons, are patient in their fishing, hunting and nesting behaviour. As such, I turned to Romans 12, verse 12 for this Bible quote:
“Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer." "I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry." "Whoever is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a hasty temper exalts folly." "But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.”
Some other spiritual meanings of great egrets include one which has a particular meaning in today's crazy world with all of these, quite frankly, Biblical events:

Once again, a “sign” will often come with prayer, as we learn in 2 Chronicle 32:24,
“In those days Hezekiah became mortally ill; and he prayed to the Lord, and the Lord spoke to him and gave him a sign."
Do not worry, even in times like we’re seeing in 2022. Luke 12:24,
“Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds!”
Consider the great egrets! They do not worry about tomorrow. Nor should you, in God everything in due time.
