@@PechPongTT by the way, what do you think about big guys' problems? I'm 190 tall and having difficulties staying low in the match.
@PechPongTT
@PechPongTT 2 года назад
@@soldatschwejk1 I have a few students who feel the same as you, I would take a look at the taller players who play well and examine how low they get and see how you stack up to them. I don’t think you need to get so low and that your way of moving and playing the game will be different than say a shorter person. When I work with those students my main thing is for them to stay engaged and moving in the point and not get into a position where they are standing too tall.

Really nice video like always 👍. A bit busy recently that I don’t have time to leave comments in all three episodes😭(still have thumb up though). I like the diagram you make explaining 3 types of coming backspin balls, that’s also one of the thing I’m trying to improve.Hope to see more video like this. Would be interesting if you could share your service training !(I sometimes feel difficult to make my service low to the net.Is there any tips besides having low contact point?)
@PechPongTT
@PechPongTT 3 года назад
Bill Hsu thank you very much! Haha I appreciate any comments or questions you have. The diagrams can help I think! To get a lower contact feeling maybe you can practice throwing the ball up and waiting till it goes under the table then serve it, this will get you way out of your comfort zone and you’ll be able to serve it down by the baseline like you want it to achieve that low bounce. Hope that helps!

@@PechPongTT Thanks 🤣. Very interesting advice! I will try it next time in training 💪.
@PechPongTT
@PechPongTT 3 года назад
Bill Hsu no problem! Also so sorry you asked specifically for a drill not related to lower contact point and I miss read your comment. You could theoretically have a low contact point and still hit too bouncy of a serve if you are hitting down too much so you would need to make the serve more flat. You could practice serving under the net if you go by the net posts and lift the net up 2-3 inches so there is a gap underneath, if you can serve a roller you will know your not bouncing it too hard downward.

@@PechPongTT Ha Ha🤣. I was thinking of your previous comment like “sound interesting ,but how can I do that?🤔🤣” Now this one sound much more reasonable👍. I think you have point out the problem I am thinking too but can’t found a way to fix it before. I will definitely try out the drill you recommended. Wonder is there any drill with similar effect you could think of which don’t need a table? Sometimes I like to play around with the ball and racket at home but I don’t have a table.

I set my robot to a 4-5 ball setting and feed my backhand with different types of balls..no spin etc...I have to do a different stroke/footwork for each shot.

@@PechPongTT Butterfly...I can do back spin ,top and dead balls with side spin too if I want also decent loops. I have put it away until next fall I spent 6 days a week working it for 2 years...went from 162lbs, to 135lbs...I'm in good shape but it destroyed my match play, I have a lower level player I started practicing with and now it's starting to take shape, I'm going to start playing at the Fremont Table Tennis academy and maybe do some coaching too. I don't have any hi-level players to practice with I'm the top of the food chain.

I really like your videos!! Was wondering, how much practice or how much time did you put in when you improved from around 2200 to what you are now? Do you find that going from say 2100 to 2200 is a lot easier than 22 to 23 and 23 to 24 and so on so forth?
@PechPongTT
@PechPongTT 2 года назад
I put a lot of practice in to go from 2100 to 2300 it went to Sweden and practiced every day for about 6 hours. I wouldnt say that its harder to go from 23 to 2400 I think it comes down to being a little more disciplined and above all it comes down to having the right instruction and the right practice partners who can push your game to the next level, very hard to improve without those two things.

If your trying the Fed, you should try the Kreanga. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fdc42cP1jDc.html like at 47:07. At 53:34 he even does something similar to your backhand training with a push followed by a quick coming topspin using a close to the table yet near full backhand stroke.

That guy! Full backhands from point blank! I can only do that when they pop the ball up after misreading my serve! He’s fun to watch when he gets off the table!

Hi, what is your equipment setup
@PechPongTT
@PechPongTT 3 года назад
I’ve been using viscaria and MX-P rubbers max sponge Both sides
@vivekpadmanabhan9599
@vivekpadmanabhan9599 3 года назад
Why I ask is that is because I have a feeling that you are having too fast a setup and you are trying too hard. Focus more on control/ feeling and match strategy. A point won just by serving a dead ball is still a point, Return of serves: all have to be on the table. Do not give away points. Opponents bat angle has to be checked. Do not continuously watch the ball only. Your game is very good. Now have to get it together.
@PechPongTT
@PechPongTT 3 года назад
Thank you for the advice! I agree being consistent is important, I do not want to give my opponent free points. I’m really terrified of going to a slower setup because most of my points are won by aggression. Most of my opponents say they don’t like playing me because I’m relentlessly attacking. I feel a slower setup maybe would make me more consistent but I’m worried about becoming too soft.

Pls don't take me to be obtuse. As an experiment, Suggest that you try blades like tibhar force pro blue, or primorac 5 play or equivalent. Tacky rubbers like big dipper, hurricane, earth, And thinner backhand rubbers. Blue fire m2 equivalents.
@PechPongTT
@PechPongTT 3 года назад
Vivek Padmanabhan no worries it’s alright I like the idea sharing, I think I can learn from anyone anywhere so I’m always open to new ideas, I played with hurricane a few months ago and had ok success I liked how it opened up the table for me but I kept getting injured in my arm because I think I wanted a certain speed out of it that I’m used to getting with mxp. I have also tried 1.9 sponge mxp on my backhand and liked it for a year but I feel now that I have to control to use max sponge. I also tried using Nittaku Ludeak blade which is all+ maybe off- and enjoyed the slowness of it but again I didn’t feel very threatening to my opponents so I switch back to my set up.

Thats Awesome!! Keep putting in the Hard work, I took a look at the videos, it looks like you are well on your way to developing strong fundamentals, some tips I may give you want them. Forehand - try to keep feet stable while doing underspin loops it looks like your left food slips back a little. Second Try to open and close your forearm you start bending your torso to get action on the ball when you could just open your forearm and then close it on the follow through. Backhand - Looks Really Solid! I love how stable your elbow is and the stroke itself looks flawless! I would say for the next step try to get a little more wrist action and spin (not to be confused with UP spin but more so forward spin) it should be a combo of spin plus hit so just work on putting a little more action on contact to make friction to make the ball go down it seems to float long a little. Moving- looks nice I like the body posture and your very mobile, when you move to the forehand side try to turn/rotate/open the hips, right now your backswing is mainly your hand going back and should eventually be a whole body turn. Keep it up hope my thoughts help!!
